Your thoughts on Dogmeat

It was a nice decoy. But after a few hours, I built a doghouse at Red Rocket and told him to just stay there due to getting annoyed by his stupid AI.

Well said, though you missed; Power armor, 2 new songs (as all the others are re-used) and shooting stuff.
Oddly enough 1, 2 and NV have slight spoilers for the main quest in the trailer. FO3 and FO4 does not.

You can find all of the spoilers for Fallout 3 in Fallout 1 and 2.

Haha. Rehashed plot, I get it.

But seriously, that's only because Fallout 1, 2 and New Vegas have good plot integrated everywhere into the game. That's why it's a good game.

Fallout 3 and 4 barely has spoilers for their story because it barely has a story. Imagine if you took the combat out of every Fallout game. Fallout 4 would be the shortest one in the series.

Apparently people play Fallout 4 for its story and characters. This picture someone posted from the Codex is something I just had to post over here, this is hilarious if they're really playing this for the characters and story.

Hahaha, the first one in the video above where he just jumps off the roof, I literally spat my monitor. Too funny.

On the subject of Dogmeat I think it's lazy unimaginative writing by Bethesda, not that I'm surprised by that.

Had I been making Fallout 4 I would have tried to come up with a new iconic companion instead of basically rehashing an old one, maybe a pet fire lizard or something along those lines instead. And you shouldn't get him so easily, he should be in a cave which you've been told to clean free of critters or something along those lines. But instead of attacking you he's friendly towards you, you can kill him and screw it up.... but if you don't kill him and feed him he'll become your companion. Something along those lines. Doesn't have to be exactly like that, it's just an example. But I would have liked to see something new.

Kill him and screw it up? What do you think this is, OBSIDIAN? Please, Go... Todd wants to see you sir. Yes, right now.

I'm sure he would. And if I was making Fallout 4 I would actually go and see him. I would listen intensely, take notes even. And then I would do the exact opposite.

Another father/son chase you say.... sure Todd. Dogmeat you say? Again? Why not Todd. Liberty Prime? Again? Great idea Todd.... Power Armor and a minigun within the first hour? please keep going...

It *WOULD* make a pretty effective list of things not to do.

Couldn't they name it something else? Why in Bethesda's mind is every dog in the wasteland named Dogmeat?

Because it was much easier to waste time recording 1000 names for that stupid robot than doing something remotely sensible and let us name the Dog we find on the side of the street.

That would've been even better if they put in one of those quotes from a Todd Howard talking about the revolutionary AI or whatever he was saying. I recall him talking about that on Oblivion.

He is boring, he is useless, his ability is bugged out to shit, he is immortal, you are forced to recruit him and he is shoehorned into the plot. He is a microcosm of everything wrong with FO4.

The best is that even if you never meet and recruit him, he'll still appear during the main quest. "Your Dogmeat there can probably help." -"HOLY FUCKING SHIT WHO IS THAT DOG HOW DID IT GET IN HERE"

Why would there be a pure breed german shepard 200 years after the war? Who is breeding them? Shouldn't dogmeat be a mixed race dog instead? They could've even created their own Dog breed to make him unique... But they didn't, they just took the most popular Dogmeat reskin mod from the Nexus and pasted it in.

If I ever get the game, the first thing I will do is turning him into a Deathclaw. I am pretty sure there will be mods for that.

Though, I don't get it why that pooch made people cheer so much, literaly on every conference, video, or where ever Todd started to talk and show the Dog the masses started to become almost hysterical.
