Zombie Apocalyse- OCC- General Discussion

Alice can teach any skill she knows to the other survivors (I'd say she could even teach Rifle), thus increasing everyone's chance for survival. She can also learn, and then teach what she learns. She does not need a classroom in order to teach. There is also another secret of hers that could be quite useful later on. Most of her secrets would take time to be useful, so they haven't been of use yet.

Our plans are still up in the air. We're going to pause after Chapter 1 (another couple of rounds) and then continue with Chapter 2 here in January. If we move the game, we may then restart and expand into several locations as we described. Even if we do (which is not certain yet), I can keep running this adventure here as long as we still have players who want to continue. Things are still in the planning stages, and we've got time to decide how we're going to work this. If we do move, it will take some time to arrange anyway.

When the new characters are introduced for Chapter 2, you can choose one of them to pick up. You can also have a third character - maybe we can work something out with that hiker idea you had. If we do move and expand the game, the hiker could also be one of the characters in the campsite story.

EDIT: Stompie, I also forwarded Duke's secrets to you in a PM, which Welsh just sent to me today.

Thats some good information. Thanks, Mr. Handy/welsh.

I have some other interesting cheracters, some student ideas, staff, and so forth.

You're welcome, Stompie.

Duke's Idea:

First of all, while Earl was cheap, the cost of a fire in the garage would be quite high and the risk significant, so he probably did not deliberately skimp on the extinguishers. It's far more likely he simply forgot to keep them current.

There may be another extinguisher somewhere around, but most of the diner's ground floor has been destroyed. They already found the only ones in the garage, so Duke could either look somewhere else on the ground floor that's intact, or somewhere other than the ground floor.

Hey Steve- I admit I was surprised you choose Alice because, on the surface, she's not that interesting. Deep down she's got some very useful skills to a group. So what Handy says is quite correct. The Teaching/Learning ability, plus some of her other deeper info is very good.

Alice is yours again. And there already is another dog: Max. He's different from Buddy, but he's interesting in his own way. There are no dogs in the choppers, of course, but there may be others later on in the story. I also have ideas for a couple of dogs for the high school thread, if we end up moving and expending.

Everyone's posted, so I'll update again tonight while I have time. I'll wait a bit for Stompie to post for Duke if he wants to act on his Idea (I'll update Systematic Annihilation and do a few other things first). We're closing in on the end of the chapter now. This next update may wrap it up, or there could be one more round after this. After Chapter 1 is complete, I'll roll skill XP checks and Sanity bonuses for the NPCs and give instructions for players to roll them for their own characters.

The problem with doing it here has to do with players. We're pretty thin at the moment. Gonzales may return, that leaves you, stompie and Suaside, with Handy and I playing keeper. I don't expect us to get much more, and if we do, there is not accounting for quality.

One thing I have discovered is that bad roleplayers can really piss of regular good roleplayers and ruin a good game. So I would rather move our good roleplayers to a forum with lots of good roleplayers.

If we stagger the game so that different sections begin at different times- than we can play for new roleplay games to open up for new players, who might be more willing to join older roleplays. It would also allow current players to get more zombie fun in.

Anyway, that's the thinking. Our main problem here is lack of players.

As for the Brownson situation-

I would suggest that Michael, Erica and Kimberly get in the helicopter and get out.

Baldwin and Wallace and Joe Barring should take the truck and get out. Certainly someone needs to warm of the truck, no?

I think once the truck gets moving it should be fine.

It might also be possible to distract the zombies with the helicopter. Remember, zombies go after the nearest food- not necessarily the easiest food. By using the helicopter once could, theoretically, bait the zombies away from the truck.

(those remember the original Dawn of the Dead might also remember the "cut the top of a zombie head off with the helicopter blade" scene.)

Ofcorse wallace will stick with the truck. He just needs to bum a weapon, and some ammo. even if the engine was killed, it would still be nice and toasty. as Mr. Handy said, though - it was probably left idoling anyway. the time required for an engine block to dispurse heat, and air tanks to bleed dry would take upwards of an houer (depending on the truck, of course) those new-fangled toyotas are hydrolic, I think. Volvo's are pnumatic (and reliable as hell is hot) ... (I had the displeasure of helping out on a toyota, while jobshadowing. I swear to god... I hate 'Yota's)

Chapter 1 is now complete. Tomorrow night I'll handle skill XP rolls and Sanity bonuses for everyone who survived, but I don't have time tonight. Chapter 2 should start in early January.

ahh yes. Custer, and the 7th cavelry. Only... this time, with helicopters... and zombies...

as far as rp locals; What about an indian reservation? (The tale of wallace redcrow... and his attempt to find his family)

Charlie knew where a nearby Indian reservation was. Wallace does have a family mentioned in his secrets.

Wallace does not gain any points in Spot Hidden, since his roll was a 27 (the link points to the Sanity bonus instead), which is not higher than his skill. He does, however, gain points in Track since the 62 you rolled for him is higher than his skill. You should roll 1d10 to see how much his Track skill increases and edit it into your post. You also forgot to roll 1d10 for Duke's Sanity bonus.

I'll fix that tomarrow morning. I am tired as hell right now, and need sleep. I will be busy tomarrow afternoon/night, so - I may not get to it. Though - I sould be able too in the morning.

Wallace is a badass, and there-fore, needs a splinter story.

Thanks for making the rolls, Stompie. Both links pointed to the same one, but I was able to look up Duke's Sanity roll on Invisible Castle. I already updated the character sheets.

I should be able to make the first post for Chapter 2 tomorrow, or failing that on Monday. We'll start out slowly, which will help the new players get used to the game. The next major plot update probably won't be until next weekend unless all of the players post sooner.

The secrets should be sent tomorrow or Monday. I know they still have to go out. My Outbox is full at the moment, and I'd have to go through it and see what I can afford to delete if I'm going to send anything, so it may be better if Welsh sends the secrets.

Don't worry about it, Stompie. I was able to look up the roll easily enough anyway.
