This is were I'd want to be in case of zombie apocalypse (or nuclear war).
Well, I'd like to be there anyway, but sadly I'm not a millionaire.
If I were, though...

That's cool, but it is in New York...

Wow, selling a $2,3 Million property you'd think they'd hire a half decent photographer for marketing materials but nooo.

Only one problem.

People know where they are so these juicy targets will attract flocks of raiders. Better to build your own small shelter somewhere extremely remote.

How about this place -

Now time for some -

Its remote but needs to be underground.

Knowing people, they won't simply accept its a single structure and attempt to look for entrances to possible hidden areas.

And what is wrong with New York? Its a wonderful state, close to Canada, lots of fresh water, lots of guns, army and airforce bases, is somewhat rugged and has 4 seasons (so you can expect the zombies to freeze for a few months at least). There are even islands and boats.... wonderful place.

I could understand your concern if this was New Jersey, but New York is a wonderful place.

I guess a zombie epidemic at the Jersey Shore would significantly raise the average IQ and lower the amount of infectious diseases there.
/edit: Added: "lower the" in front of "amount of". Sentence didn't make sense and I overlooked it.

Not if they keep fracking up the soil up north where the water comes from.

Euhm, legally owned weapons are restricted pretty severely in NYC, and there's a fuckton of armed thugs. Do you think they'll turn friendly just because of zombies?

He'd probably going to die for being so myopic in his preperation for any kind of catastrophe or apocalypse, zombie or otherwise.

Survival supplies are not in any way shape or form simply firearms and ammo. Food, shelter, medical supplies, water, energy, and the ability to sustain, repair, and grow what you need for long term survival are equally as important.

"I got guns, so I can hunt for food" is a rather simplistic example of setting yourself up for fail - for instance. Do you know how to hunt? Do you have guns and ammo for what you can hunt in your region? Do you know how to dress game? Do you know how to prepare game for long term storage? Which doesn't even address the issue of man cannot survive on game alone.

What about dairy, veggies, fruits, and grains? What are the best supplements to have to substitute for these items if you cannot find, harvest or grow them? Do you know how to make bread from grain?

Water alone can be the deciding factor of whether you live or die. Do you have a water source that isn't reliant on government to exist? Is it clean? Do you have a way to test and treat your water supply? Do you have adequate storage for water?

The stuff that kills you quicker than zombies is what you don't know about all the things we take for granted in this day and age.

Even if you are knowledgable enough and prepared enough to have all those bases covered - you still have a significant chance of not making it unless you have the ultimate survival skill: the ability to work with other groups and individuals to barter/trade and work together.

Don't forget a good stash of porn mags...it's important to keep morale high. :P

Exactly.
Stop masturbating - become God.
It's important to extend your powers beyond the limits of mere mortals in a land where the undead reign, so it would be beneficial to transcend by stopping masturbation.
De Aynesworth knows about this, but I think he's been hit with the banhammer.

Anybody read 'Feed' by Mira Grant or the sequels 'deadline' and 'blackout'? It's called the 'newsflesh' trilogy.

---

In 2014, two experimental viruses—a genetically engineered flu strain designed by Dr. Alexander Kellis, intended to act as a cure for the common cold, and a cancer-killing strain of Marburg, known as "Marburg Amberlee"—escaped the lab and combined to form a single airborne pathogen that swept around the world in a matter of days. It cured cancer. It stopped a thousand cold and flu viruses in their tracks.

It raised the dead.

Millions died in the chaos that followed. The summer of 2014 was dubbed "The Rising," and only the lessons learned from a thousand zombie movies allowed mankind to survive. Even then, the world was changed forever. The mainstream media fell, Internet news acquired an undeniable new legitimacy, and the CDC rose to a new level of power.

Set twenty years after the Rising, the Newsflesh trilogy follows a team of bloggers, led by Georgia and Shaun Mason, as they search for the brutal truths behind the infection. Danger, deceit, and betrayal lurk around every corner, as does the hardest question of them all:

When will you rise?

Feed was a great tale. I'd hate to call it something trite like "a zombie story for the new millenium," but it applies.

Where'd you hear about it? I had to get my copy off of Amazon, and the only reason I even knew it existed was because it was written by a friend of a friend of a friend.
