Bethesda announces another E3 press conference

So Old I'm Losing Radiation Signs

For people that have been following Bethesda for a while you'll know that this is only the second time they've done this. Rumours fly, of course, about what their press conference will actually be about but one could reasonably assume it will likely include details about future Fallout 4 DLC and probably a future release of one of their other IPs (Doom, Dishonoured, possibly others).

I'm betting they'll release a very cryptic teaser for TES. It'll involve the Dwemer in some way because they haven't been done yet. Bethesda's creativity was spent years ago. Their BIG thing in Skyrim was dragons. So I'm betting dwemer. And dragons will be in it because.

Is the "butthurt" just wishful thinking on our part? Yeah Fallout 4 got bad user metacritic ratings, but I haven't heard any negative press anywhere else.

I haven't seen bad scores from large journalists, but I have seen quite a bit of passive-aggressive attitudes towards many of the issues we have no problem shouting about over here.

(This one's a bit rubbish, his issues are negligible compared to some of the more glaring ones).

Ugh. I hate those articles. All of them always start with "Fallout 4 is good BUT"

Why is it so hard to say that it is just shit?

Perhaps because as individuals they feel they must bring light to its flaws but cannot say that they did not enjoy themselves playing it. In short, they can't say that it's shit because it's their personal opinion that it isn't. Just with some noticable flaws is all.

Sigh. I just wish there was more of an attack on Bethesda's bullshit.
Agreed. I love most Bethesda Games, but I can't deal with their shit. All these Bethesdrones everywhere are defending them to their last breath. I once came to a forum where I got death threats because I was tired of Bethesda fucking things up

I see a lot of people talking about going back to skyrim, "games over, what is there to do now," and more than a few "Skyrim is better" threads around. The general consensus among the BGS fanbase seems to be of disappointment. Even a super fan site like Sugarbombed had a staff choice awards and didn't give FO4 anything. http://sugarbombed.com/forums/threads/sugarbombed-presents-the-nukawards-staff-choice.15932/

Dunno about no bad reviews.... This one was fairly scathing when you consider that he accused the game of being boring.

I remember that review leaking before the embargo lifted; everybody on the fallout 4 Reddit instantly dismissed it by saying that the review was just made by insecure journalists who were afraid of not getting any views... I haven't been on Reddit for a while I wonder if they like fallout 4 now that it's been released.

The Fallout subreddit has been a spiral of both denial and acceptance. There's people shouting about how bad Fallout 4 is, people going on about how it's normal for Bethesda, people denying it was bad, people admitting it was bad but enjoying it anyway, and then there's the ones who sit to the side and agree with a bit of everything, like me. But it's the most fluctuating subreddit.

The Fallout 4 subreddit, however, is a major haven for low-content posts. Memes, quick photos, easter eggs, fun facts, tips for settlements, companion appreciation threads, etcetera. Not much change you'll see there - I barely find any criticism there and any post with actual text and discussion in them gets downvoted in favour of more deathclaws and settlements.

The other Fallout subreddits are as peaceful as usual. The gaming subreddit goes on posting gifs of it like Battlefront, Call of Duty, Just Cause, and every other source of random gaming content out there. The games discussion subreddit doesn't care about it anymore.

I guess I should have seen that coming, Fallout 4's biggest problem is lack of substance, I simply can't see many people having discussions about its story and characters. Good to see the main subreddit is completely divided, hopefully they have meaningful debates about FO4's worth over there rather than trade death threats and insults as is prone to happening on reddit.

Discussions about Fallout 4 characters must be real fun over there:
"Remember when Preston gave you all those repetitive settlement quests after naming you general?"
"Yeah or the time you watched that ghoul dressed as a pirate kill a random guy? He was a hero by saving you from corruption"
Yeah that must be real fun. You forgot about wild speculation like how the ghoul kid is in a fridge is logical or why it wasn't a whole 200 years, ah nothing like being delusional.

Yeah the discussions over there is going to be like monkeys throwing big piles of smelly feces at each other with others getting caught in the crossfire.

I wonder what Bethesda is going to reveal.

Shouldn't some of the Fallout 4 DLC be out by E3? Or were they telling the truth when they said they had no idea what the DLC was and sold people Season Passes without knowing what any of the content was gonna be? Seems kinda shady to me.

Why is it so hard to say that it is just shit?

Because if all you want out of the game is the old shoot and loot, then there's a good time to be had. Also, if you get really into base-building, there's some fun to be had there. So you can't really deny that people who enjoy the game *for those reasons* are justified in enjoying it. It's just that people who care about other things are justified in getting disappointed.

It's like a movie for example, one person can like a movie because it delivers excellent kung fu fights, and another person can dislike it because it doesn't deliver on the romantic subplot (or vice versa) and they can both be right.

It is hard to go against the grain so they take baby steps. Nothing in Skyrim was particularly or offensively bad but it lacks any substance. There was nothing in the game made me think that the game was worth playing. They could have delayed the game until the Sun dies and it still wouldn't be better in a significant degree. The story of the Dragonborn is a story of pest control. I can't bothered to save anyone in that world. The civil war would have been just as interesting if it was decided on Rock, Paper, Scissors.

If they just say that, then they get ousted for being hipster and nostalgia-blinded. No one listens to them after that.

Disguising it under a thin veil makes it easier to get criticism through. It's why comedians use humour to cover the political undertones of the statements they make, or musicians use good music to make their songs' true meanings harder to realise.

They're methods of getting through community censorship. And it's sad it has to happen, because the fact that gaming communities are outright harassing people with different opinions to the majority just makes gamers look bad. Publishers respect communities less as a result, and then the same thing happens all over again.

Sure, there are people who actually like it and also see what they consider flaws in them. Flaws and bad parts are subjective and for that reason you don't get a primarily FPS player to review a strategy game (i.e. EGM's review of XCOM 2).

Basically, they either do it to avoid getting censored by rabid fanbases, or because they're a fan of the genre and therefore see different things as flaws. The latter I consider fine - though I would rather reviewers and writers be experienced in the thing they are about to write about. The former is absolutely and ridiculously unacceptable.

Surprisingly enough, whenever there is a Fallout related post lately, all I see are comments talking about how much better New Vegas is. I can't stand reading anything Fallout related on reddit though, it's literally the same conversations over and over.

Not interested at all in this E3 conference, the Fallout 4 DLC will probably be some dumb shit like a moon base or something to do with an underwater sea monster, I don't know lol. Even if it isn't an announcement of that, I still don't give a shit.
