ORIGINAL QUESTION

So I am near the end of FONV (I GUESS) I decided to help mr.house and now I need to gain the brotherhoods trust, And the missions they send you out to do are sooo annoying and tedious first there was the boomers sending you out doing chores, And then the omeratas, And now this? Why can't they let the story progress! But to be honest maybe its because I am aiming to help mrhouse,

But you have to highlight some great missions, I really liked the

Reppcon missions (Cuz fucking antler)
I really liked helping goodsprings
And the mission in the fort, Even tho I killed everyone and caesers cool displacer glove

IIRC you don't 'have' to get the Boomers to side with or against you, you could just return and go "eh, ain't gon' work boss."
The Omerta's are simple, just go in and slaughter them all.
The BOS is also quite simple, go in with Veronica, discard her as a companion after talking to McNamera, then head for the destruction thingie by the sim-units and engage the core overload or whatever and destroy the bunker.

If you find it to be tedious you can always cut corners.

You only need to get wrapped up in what you want to get wrapped up in. If you feel a particular group doesn't fit into your ideal New Vegas then perhaps they should be persuaded to leave, 1 bullet at a time.

I hate to say it, but there was a little bit of tediousness in New Vegas, at least after having completed it once. However, the freedom of role play more than makes up for that, so it certainly doesn't detract from it's status as a great game.

Looking back, I sort of wasn't a fan of the Followers of the Apocalypse. Their neo-communism is a little off-putting. The only reason I vouched for them then was because I wanted a mostly morally correct ending. Hey, maybe I'll go back and make sure they get exiled out of the Mojave on my next playthrough. This is a game where I can choose who I want to support, unlike certain other titles in the series!

The Followers aren't neo-communists, they're anarchists if anything but really they just don't want government intervention, which is understandable considering they're humanitarians.

Isn't there a "nah, I don't wanna do this" option for dealing with pretty much all of the factions if you go the Yes Man route?

They say a lot of leftist and collectivist things, but hey, 'anarchist' was once synonymous with 'communist'. It's all ignorance, and stems from the same twisted source idea. However, I'm not in the mood to turn this thread into a political battle- agree to disagree?

Sure, I don't want to get into a political debate about a fictional organisation, just want to make sure nobody gets the wrong idea about the Followers.

If you don't like doing all the long quests for factions, there's usually much shorter, quicker ways to raise reputation with them.

For example, with the Boomers, there's 5 easy ways to get Idolized reputation. The first one is a little slow, but basically,

1. first go listen to Pete tell you the history of the Boomers in their museum. Talk to Pete after this and make sure you ask him all the questions. Each question you ask nets you fame. After this, go next door to the medical clinic. If your medicine skill is high enough, you can heal 3 the patients inside there. By doing this you'll have max reputation in 0 time.

2. The second way is probably pretty damn easy if you're a hoarder like me. There are 2 people on the base, Jack and Raquel. Raquel is the munitions officer, and she requires missiles. You can give her as many missiles as you want, and this gives you Boomer reputation. Jack needs scrap metal to restore the base. Give him as much scrap metal as you want in exchange for reputation. These are very easy ways to get rep, especially since there are a lot of missiles and scrap around Nellis as it is, and they'll take stolen scrap/missiles.

3. If you have at least a Charisma of 7 (usually a bottle of alcohol + mentats will do the trick no matter how low your Charisma is), go to Novac. In the back of Clint's gift shop is a closet. Inside this closet you can find a bunch of toy rockets. Steal at least 7 of these. Upon going to Nellis, talk to the multiple children running around the base. With your 7 Charisma, you can give each one of them a toy rocket in exchange for reputation. Once you give all the kids a toy, talk to this one girl, Melissa. She'll inform you her toy bear is missing. Find her bear and you should reach idolized status.

4. Jack, the guy you can give scrap to, has a 2nd quest. He wants a girlfriend. Help him hook up with his secret lover and give him at least 10 scrap and boom, you'll have Idolized reputation.

5. You can simply do a combination of any of these. Listen to the Boomer's history, heal up people, give scrap and missiles away, give toys to the children, find the missing bear, you can just do all their missions instead, etc etc. There's tons of different ways to level up their reputation without doing all the quests.

So as you can see, "tedious" quests aren't required, there's a crap ton of ways around any situation in this game. :) Unlike Fallout 4 where the only option you have is to shoot everything. (sorry but I had to take a jab at that fucking game)

And that's just with the Boomers! Every faction in the game has ways to raise reputation without doing the main quests for their faction, excluding small towns like Novac and Goodsprings.

Wow, i didn't know you could roleplay Santa . I have hundreds of those things at my cavehome.
And yeah, sometimes the quests could get a bit tedious, especially for me the Gomorrah, becouse that place is a friggin' labyrinth. After DUST no more, though. Desperate looting is the key to learn weird layouts.

Gomorrah's really simple to bypass too though. If you're doing Independent or Legion, all you have to do is steal Cachino's journal out of his room (the game should give you a marker towards it whenever Cachino confronts you for the first time) and then give it to his bosses Nero and Big Sal. After that they gun down Cachino, give you caps, and you basically win them over. Easy as that. Oh, and if you talked to Mick and Ralph before hand about missing shipments and go this route, you get a special surprise from them I won't spoil. ;) Just make sure to talk to M&R before offing Cachino.

And if by Santa you mean where I talked about the rockets, yeah. That's pretty fun to do, the kids are adorable. Pretty sure if you don't have rockets you can also use dino toys.

I know, i did exactly that about the Gomorrah. But i was refering to the rooms/burdel/basement/courtyard area. I spent around 1 hour every playthrough trying to get around there xD.

Ah, yeah, I can understand that. I used to have problems navigating the place too. Though after playing through the game fully 6 times mixed in with multiple half-finished playthroughs I've pretty much got the whole Strip memorized save for Vault 21. Vault 21 is still a nightmare to navigate. I only go there for 2 reasons: 1, to find Carlos for that one quest, and 2, to bang Sarah if I'm a House-oriented or NCR oriented character. My Independent and Legion characters much more prefer the company of Red Lucy. Haven't actually played as a female yet. Now I'm wondering if female characters can sleep with Red Lucy and Sarah too?

If you repair the elevator, the only truly hidden thing is that unique green laser rifle, that was a the other side of the staircase barricade. Sarah is probably romanceable, and Red Lucy doesn't care of your genre if the quest gets completed.

OOH... laser rifles!

I think you meant to put Fallout 4. :smug:

Right, everything from New Vegas is real perfect, no tedium at once whatsoever.

Every game has a tedious part at one point or another, it's inevitable. Even if a perfect game is made, the least well-paced section of the game will be considered tedious. It's subjective but one part or another gets labelled in the end.

Real funny joke. Ha. I'm laughing. :wall:
