Anyone Else think Shoddycast has become a Bethesda Bum-licking channel?

For those of you who don't know: Shoddycast is a youtube channel dedicated to exploring the lore of various video games, as well as other aspects of them. They look at Halo, Elder Scrolls, ect., but they seem to mostly focus on Fallout.

The reason I started subscribing to Shoddycast is because they give a non-biased view of the Fallout games. They simply explore the lore, with no added bullshit.

That was until recently. I have noticed that Shoddycast has pretty much been forcing a pro-bethesda comment in to every other video they've made. Like literally, if you watch through the channel, you'll always find these comments such as "This turned in to Fallout 4, which we all know and love" or "I'm sure you really enjoyed Fallout 4" or "Once you're FINALLY done playing Fallout 4.", ect., they seem to automatically assume that there viewers love Fallout 4, and thought it was a valid entry to the series.

This really bothers me, because they have never made that sort of comment about 1, 2, 3 or New Vegas before. Those games had nowhere near as much controversy as Fallout 4, but they never assumed that there fans had played and enjoyed them, yet the moment the most controversial non-spin off entry to the series is released, they suddenly start licking the shit right out of game's butt and assuming that everyone else is doing the same. This to me, doesn't seem at all like a coincidence.

It seems to me almost as though they are saying "We know that Fallout 4s created all this controversy, so lets pretend its an awesome game just for the sake of taking sides.", which makes it seem like they are being completely biased towards the game, know they are, and don't care.
 
I used to watch them a while ago, but they included stuff from Fallout 3 and then later on from Fallout 4 and so they tried to make sense of it, where there is none.

I liked them before but now they are on the same level as mr MattyPlays, who is one hell of a Fanboy. It is a pity though, I mean the lore was quite well explained most of the time though. Now, not really.

It happens a lot in industry, there are other channels like this who sell themselves out, because of that I unsubscribed and found a small ( 2k subs) channel that gives valid critique of different games.

I am not sure, but I remember they trying to make a kickstarter or something to try and get money for a Fallout project, and I think Bethesda shut their project down (because of the reason of making money out of the fallout name without authorisation). I can't remember very well, it was a while ago and made some modders angry too (because modders can't ask for money to make their mods while Shoddycast was kickstarting their project).

Maybe they are trying to kiss Bethesda's ass so they are allowed to ask for money later or something... I have no idea.
 
I don't watch the channel but I have a hard time believing that someone who prides themselves on Fallout lore is happy with Fallout 4. Also there simply isn't enough writing in the game for making serious explorations of the factions and characters and lore.

There's really not much to talk about with the lore in the game because there is a serious lack of writing especially compared to the previous actual Fallout games.

In my opinion, anyone who takes Fallout seriously should be pretty disappointed with the game, regardless of whether they enjoy playing it or not. Plus with the way the DLC is going, pretty soon they're going to have to do lore videos of Contraptions Workshop lol.

I would agree with you but Tagaziel kind of proves that there's something to be loved in Fallout 4's lore, I'm not exactly sure of what it is but if a vehement detractor of Fallout 3 pulled a 360 when 4 came out then there must be something to be enjoyed, it's either that or Tagaziel was replaced by an android.
 
Who? Oh right, Shoddycast are still a thing... I actually forgot about them until now.

I used to watch their lore series (paid it more attention when it was talking about 1,2 and New Vegas while ignoring the videos about 3 mostly and for the most part it was acceptable as a summary of some parts of the lore) but I have not been keeping up with the channel for a long time. I think I unsubscribed from them around the time they began to subscribe nonsensical clickbaity videos like this one:


Looks like their lore series is back up but I feel sorry for them now. They have the task of making sense of Fallout 4's convoluted writing and needing to continue the fan-fiction story they've created for that particular series.

Maybe you should chill out and accept that different people have different opinions and complaining about other peoples opinions is stupid.
Its their right to praise/enjoy Fallout 4 and its not yours to tell them not to praise/enjoy it. Its a waste of time to bitch about others opinions.
Go watch someone else's content if you dont like it, instead of forum crying about it.

My issue wasn't that I don't like there content, but that there content suddenly took a turn from being a non-biased overview of the franchise, to being a circlejerk. It feels kinda like they sold out to Bethesda.

Thats your opinion, fine. But its useless to forum QQ and whine about it, because Shoddcast arent just going to say "shit! NMA are complaining about us, better change", no they wont even know about you. You are just pissing against the wind because there is nothing you can do.
There are so many better things you could do with your time than complain about this of all things on the internet.

I thinks this should be a sticky. And always when someone registers at NMA he should be reminded, that we are not this kind of entity with one uniform opinion that simply rejects and hates everything.
 
No, I mean what do the people in shoddycast actually do when they come across the lore inconsistencies? I mean if their entire point is going through lore and they're being apologists for Fallout 4 then what do they actually say when they come across lore that is inconsistent with previous lore?

Even when the lore is incredibly clear they act as though the information is vague and full of holes (this is more to keep the main character from being omniscient then it is bad writing, at least from what I can tell), so they probably do the same when the run into inconsistencies.
 
To be honest you guys need to stop whining about lore inconsistencies because its stupid, they are the most tiny things. Frigging, whether its T51 or T60 in Anchorage, or whether the Pip Boy is attached to you or not. Get a life
