Aladdin Trailer

As a huge Disney nerd, I wonder what is up with all these live-action/CGI remakes of their movies. There was The Jungle Book and Beauty and the Beast, and now Aladdin, The Lion King and a mother freaking remake of Winnie the Pooh. Is it not enough to just leave the animated classics alone? Come on, Disney!

Imagine a world where this happened to Ghilbi movies.

Eh, I think it's less creatively bankrupt and more "We have all this money and cannot figure out to quickly make more money with it! Our writers move too slow!" and some just suggests that they remake all of their popular films. Then they realize that a new animated version for nearly any of these would be received poorly but live-action could forgiven enough by most people and they'll go watch it because they like the original and cuz why not throw 15 dollars a person away just to see the movie again?! People love big movies!

I cannot understand why people go to see blockbusters like at minimum once a month while it's in theaters. The rate movies hit disc/digital now, you could spend like a dollar more and have your own copy. Sure, theaters are the way movies are meant to be seen but not when I have to pay 15 bucks and it's just another blockbuster. I can't think of the last time I saw a movie in theaters near me that wasn't a modern horror/thriller or a blockbuster, or just looked like complete shit. I want some more stuff like Alien, Сталкер, and Apocalypse Now. Hard Candy is even good enough for me. I guess there's a reason I enjoy seeing Tarantino make yet another movie. At least they're more interesting than others.

I'm also upset they might do this to Mulan at some point.

Oh god, Will Smith Genie. This looks like a complete trainwreck and honestly don't know the point of these live action remakes.

Probably because of this.

TL;DR, it's nostalgia, reintroducing something popular to new people and "adding lore".
