One of the more ridiculous movies I've ever seen. This is what Dan Brown looks like without the lightning-in-a-bottle luck. It clocks in at 2 hours 10 minutes, but it feels like 3:10. Unless you're desperate, stay away. If I had it to do over again, I'd see something else.

To be honest, I rather enjoyed The Davinci Code movie, but I think that's because I avoided the book and all the hype like the plague. I took a gamble on it and I wasn't disappointed, even if it was a Foucault's Pendulum rip-off. It was well-structured and its logic hung together, and it was well-directed by Opie.

Angels & Demons is insufferable. The story is absurd, and Opie managed to make Rome look ugly and boring. A total phone-in job.
 
I read both books and I enjoyed both movies. Nigga, I don't give a fuck.

The first movie had Audrey Tautou and this one had [spoiler:23245b4f46]AIR MOTHER FUCKING POPE[/spoiler:23245b4f46] so I really don't see where the dislike comes in.
 
I read all of his books at about age 12/13. I don't know why. I think it has to do with liking to read a lot, boredom, and having them on-hand due to having a middle aged mother. In terms of adult detective pulp, they're pretty decent. Kept my interest long enough, they read quick, etc.
 
Damnit we need a real Angel VS Demons movie. By that I mean both sides kicking eachothers ass in heaven and hell.

PS. Yeah there has been stuff like Spawn and Constantine but still nothing in depth like maybe a clearly defined hierarchy for both heaven and hell among other things.
 
Wait a sec, do you mean to say that a crappy book + a mediocre director + awful movie predecessor + generalized poor taste + money fueled media hype + "we want tha big bucks" film-making mentality = bad, ridiculous movie??

Good Omens is sort of that. But it's not a movie. But it almost was.
 
Your expectations are too high, its a pulp action movie, not some ground breaking artistic creation that shakes the foundations of modern society.

Just a decent, enjoyable movie.

God's army was always one of my most favourite movies, even when it was almost only for the great presentation of the Angel Gabriel by Christopher Walken ! :mrgreen: ... seriously the other Gods Army movies suck.

Isnt Dan Brown really believing in "some" of the stuff he is writting? I mean I am not sure about everything and such since I am not a "real" fan (I thought Da Vinci code was pretty boring since most of it is just that, fiction). But from a interview I have seen he said something along like he realy beliefs in the offspring Jesus Christ beeing the Grail.

This must be one of the most stupidest convoluted stories ever written.

And anti-matter detonates harmlessly when in the air?

He stole all that from a pseudo-factual book called The Holy Blood and the Holy Grail.

There was a court case about it IIRC that he amazingly won.
 
I thought the book (Angles and Demons) was much better than The DaVinci Code, but then again I read them all in the correct order, so The DaVinci Code just seemed a rehash of Angels and Demons.

One exception though; the ending blows so bad they should call a level 6 hurricane "Dan Brown" by default.

So I expect I will enjoy the film, and just try to forget about the crappy ending ...
 
Angels & Demons has even more obvious factual inaccuracies than the DaVince Code.

Frith those books are shit.
 
I don't get all the hate - where's the love, mangs? I mean, sure, it's not the greatest film of all time, or even of this year, but I didn't feel cheated of my five quid when I saw it. I liked the story of the book, and I think the film picked it up nicely.

"Oh it's a stupid story that's so unbelievable." Waah wahh. God forbid that a story might be unbelievable. Lord protect us from artistic license. Now let's all go and watch good, believable films like ET. :roll:
 
what is interesting is how fast people tend jump on the bandwagon of blaming the catholic church for every single incident and accusing it of some kind of big conspiracy after another book from Dan Brown is released. I mean to not get confused I am not a fan of the catholic church, nor do I think from them in a very positive maner, but I do not believe in a clear "black vs white" scenario neither since its a pretty big organisation and quite a lot of people particularly on the lower levels of the church do a lot of good work without the dogma to evangelise everyone and everywhere or stop any kind of discussion. I can remember to had quite a lot of very interesting theological discussions with some intelligent catholic priests to not agree doesnt mean not to tolerate each others oppinion and have a dialogue with each other. People like to forget that the church was not or is not always a source of "violance" and "bigotry".

But well as long one can make a hell lot of money with it ... and some love to just criticse everything without a sense.
