Any suggestions? I'm yearning for a new(old) game

The only games that come to mind that are close to what you are asking for, are Deus Ex, Arx Fatalis, System Shock, Nocturne (TRI game, not the other one), and maybe the Blair Witch Project games.

You could try the Thief games. I haven't played them, yet, but my friend is a huge first person stealth fan and she says they're pretty good. The first two are from the late 90's so they'll most likely run.
The Thief games are excellent. I bought the trilogy several months ago and I have to say Thief 1 is probably my favorite first-person game ever, mainly because it's much more about suspense (staying hidden) than action (fighting). You can fight in the game, but your character stinks at it. I actually worked up a sweat while playing Thief, just from the tension.

Best of all, a mysterious person or persons (probably ex-developers of the game) recently released an equally mysterious patch that fixes a huge number of bugs and makes the game run like a dream on newer systems.

Probably strange choices but I always enjoy a break with either Indiana Jones and his Desktop Adventures or Star Wars Yoda Stories.
They are little games intended for when you have a break or a free moment.

You can download them here for free.

Other than that, well Sub Culture, but there is no RPG 'ing in that.

Yoda Stories is an integral part of my childhood. I have no idea if actually played well, but boy I had fun nonetheless.

I think there's a newer version out now (that sucked), but the old game "Syndicate" was pretty awesome back in the day. Walk around town with a persuade-a-tron and get a mob of 100 people following you around with guns. The gaus Gun, etc.

ME and a friend of my spent way to many hours with the old one :O !

You could allways try KKND for some post appocalyptic strategy.
Or if you want some adventure check out the longest journey 1 and Dreamfall! Both games where really awesome but not that well known.
And if you havent tried it yet you should really play neveweinter nights with the 2 expansions. Havent tried the second game but it looks like crap and i havent heard anything good about it.

Edit: Ohh and someone mentioned Deus Ex. The first game is well worth it!

I don't know how the original poster feels about Amiga games but there is a website that offers various games already fitted with a configured emulator that can be played by only clicking the file (not hazzle with the various options in order to make it run).

The Amiga had some great games that are still fun even today, games which conversions on the PC often were of lesser quality back in the day.

If anyone wants to play these games and has any questions, ask and I will try to help you as best as I can.

^Speaking of, didya guys see this?

I grew sick of it quickly "OMG NOSTALGIA! MEMORIES... that midi... >:I"
but it's a nice blast from the past.

Makta, The longest journey looks very nice, as does Dreamfall. I must admit I feel a little silly not even having heard of this, being Norwegian... I will definitely be checking these out

I'm looking for atmosphere, above anything....

The vast majority of games are full of adrenaline-pumping competition, and I'm trying to find something to be a little alternative to that, along with a nice relaxing atmosphere. A game you can roll a joint to, without pausing it :D

Thief series is definitely what you want. Superb atmosphere, superb sound design, superb exploration and avoiding combat is pretty much the only way to play. Boy does it feel nice after a joint. At some parts I would stop just to enjoy the ambient soundtrack. Play all three games, there's nothing else like it.

I am keeping this one in the back of my mind as well. I have a... modest computer :D So, I am forced to check out games a few at the time. I so need an updated gaming computer :(

Why would you need an updated computer for Thief? Not enough HDD space?

Disk-space ;D

I feel like I'm back in the olden days, when I had to delete docs and images to "free up space", I hate this :D

Besides, I want a better computer in general, so I can play games that demand too much. Even if just to try them - such as Skyrim, Fallout New Vegas. I haven't even tried these :'I

Haven't tried New Vegas? Get out! :D

I am getting over it now, but I have had many a tearful night about it, especially when more and more FO3-haters begun comparing FO-NV to FO2 and praising it. Just what I needed :I

If you can, play the new Xcom. It's well suited to being played windowed so you can get your rookies murderd while you're fucking about on NMA or whatever other forum you go too. AFAIK it's not too crazy demanding and scales well to different systems. It's an unreal engine game IIRC.

Ugh... bro just stick to old PC and games like Thief for now.. New Vegas is good compared to Fallout 3, but when you really look at it from a non Fallout fan perspective, it's quite mediocre as a game.

Oh, I've seen enough of Skyrim to know what I'm dealing with, I even removed Oblivion, to re-install Morrowind.
But I am just sick of not even having the option to trying them out for myself :D
I often tell people - I can enter a game store w a 1000 moneys in my hand, and come out with no games, I'm very picky - but - I want to be able to run them if I wanted to.
For example - as a general rule - I can forget all about any upcoming games. By default. And that stings a bit :D

Couldn't disagree more. It's actually one of my favorites.

Hey Zegh! You played the original Resident Evil series? How about Anachronox? Planescape: Torment? Silent Hill? Catherine? Batman Arkham City? Earthbound? Chrono Trigger? Hentai Fuck Party 3? That last one is made up. Hehe. :)
