Anyone have idea why New Vegas is already under $20.00?

I'm a very lucky person then. I've virtually encountered 5-6 bugs in the unpatched version, and only one of them was actually problematical.

It's not as bad as people make it out to be, I've had maybe two crashes and only one game breaking bug in all my time playing New Vegas, and that game breaking bug was fixed in a patch so it's all good now.

Edit: And I had at least two quests that I was unable to complete before the patches came out.

I didn't have much bugs on my unpatched version of the game, some crashes, and the "We will all go together" quest has become unbeatable but not much else. In cottonwood crater I once swam through the map and got stuck there, btu that was only once. Maybe some people just have bad luck.

Yeah I've never completed "We will all go together" either but I don't think it's a bug that makes that unbeatable, it's just really hard to find all the ghouls before you get killed by the radiation.

The quests I couldn't complete were the BoS one where they give you the power armor training since every time I got the training the game would freeze, and the one at McCarran where you had to stop the monorail from blowing up in time where it was impossible to get to it before it blew up.

^the McCarran Quest was broken? I never had a problem with that one. I always went directly to the train an deactivated the Bomb. But We will all go together is broken for me, I have searched for all the ghouls in the town, I packed a war size supply of Rad X and Radaway, activated the turrets and nothing, then I decided to check the Quest Marker and it sent me to the middle of town, and there is nothign there, I think a Ghoul fell through the map and I can't reach him now.

It was broken for me at least, as soon as I walked into the station the train took off before I had time to even walk up to it.

That's because you probably talked to... eh, that guy... (the NCR official) before. Don't remember his name. If you do that, the bomb will always blow prematurely.

Really? That still seems pretty broken, or just poor quest design at least. How the hell are you supposed to know you have to check on the train if you don't talk to the guy?

Picus, the Legion Spy mentions how he planted the bomb if you listen to the covnersation he has with his contact, the objective (deactivate the bomb on the train" appears then.

Nothing is "broken" there. You are supposed to be in a hurry since you just found out a bomb is being placed. Walking to the official before is wasting time, and that time is needed to disarm the bomb. Not sure what's so bad about that.

It was a bug? I always thought it was intended that you had to find the ghouls. It was damn hard and at least partly annoying, yes. But I found it still to be more fun than running from one quest arrow to the next, like it has been changed to after one of the later patches. Now this quest is a simple "run to x, kill, pick up, run, kill,..." quest. Before the patch, you had to take care much more, always with an open eye for ghouls with dog tags. And it was possible to beat it-- I have done it twice.

The quest arrow should have been shown after a ghoul was dead, not before.

But I think one of the Ghouls just fell through the map on my game, I have checked that place thrice, I only find Radscoprions, and I am 1 dogtag away from finishing the quest.

I don't know if it's a bug or not, but I've never been able to find the last two ghouls, although that might be due to overzealous companions killing them all before I get a chance to even see where they are.

If you're playing on PC, that shouldn't be a problem. You can always type tcl in the console and you'll be able to go through walls, floor etc.
However, the chance of game crashing at this point is maximized, so be sure to make a save game before.

Playing on the PC, with am minimum of mods, on a modern win7 system with current drivers i still get freezes and crashes to desktop every few hours, something that i dont get with any other PC game i play. and this is now with a fresh install of the game after its all patched up. Is it better then the cluster F%# it was at launch, absolutely. is it still at an acceptable level? no way and don't kid yourselves otherwise, which is what i'm getting at. The crashing to desktop has gotten infrequent enough (and i thankfully havent gotten any broken quests in recent memory) that i just deal with it but i am eagerly awaiting the OWB patch. Both Obsidian AND bethesda have QA issues, i'm not going to just bash Obsidian here, but honestly be it KOTOR2, be it Alpha Protocal, be it New Vegas. I've never played a Obsidian game that "just worked", they have themselves to blame for the reputation they've put together

Well, blame the engine. The gamebryo engine is very spacial, it eats gpu power like nothing else. My graphic card is in a permanent super-mode when playing Fo3 / FNV and no other game is doing this.

If it does this on the years old Gamebryo engine I don't even want to see what it'll be like on Bethesda's new 'Creation' engine.

Well hopefully some of the pros at iD has given Bethesda some times in terms of engine creation.

Though is this really some gamebryo engine unique quality or just poor optimisation by Bethesda and Obsidian ?

I tend to believe it might be the later.

And if they are already on it something in animation, graphic and level design.

Hmmm ... I wish ID would have bought Bethesda ... and not Zenimax ID.

Well, *Bethesdas* gamebryo engine. Over the years they have modificated the shit out of it already.

Are you sure isn't the dogtag in possession of the only non-hostile ghoul?
