Arrogant modders?

Shaodeus

Still Mildly Glowing
I've been hearing talk about modders modding for their ego and being arrogant or something, what's the story behind that?

I guess it depends on the game they are "dedicated" to, that should change their attitude towards what they do.
I haven't seen any issues with Skyrim or New Vegas' modder egoes, though.

I doubt that those doing it for their ego would last long... The return on time invested is very small if that's your only motivation.

I guess some might be seen as arrogant because they don't always accept advice from other people. But since it's their own time they're wasting, why would they feel they need to accept everything some random guy tells them?

Maybe Bethdrones are calling certain higher profile modders arrogant because they won't mod (fix) FO4?

Probably talking about DDProductions. There were some "console breaking" mods he released which pissed off a bunch of console users, I won't lie, I would've done the same if I was being hounded by kids that don't understand what script extenders are.
So old news than...

Callinga a modder "arrogant" or just doing things "for their ego" sounds like actual entitlement.
See modders are pouring hours of their free time making something for free that they have no obligation to do. You aren't owed jack shit from modders, you have no grounds to demand anything from them. So, fuck off.

It's hilarious that the same people sending threats to and insulting modders will stop at nothing to defend Fallout 4 and Bethesda. One is a company that they pay $110 to for a product, the other provides products for free and entirely at their own expense, and yet the fanboys choose to defend the people taking their money over the people giving them things for free.

It's sad that there's such Tribalism out there in the world, even more sad that it's over some company that could give less of a shit about their fanboys, and some stupid video game.

Where can I find that info? I've been looking for it recently (like Someguy2000 apparently not wanting to do his planned Fallout 4 quest mods.)
That was what I was talking about. I also heard rumors that Trainwiz is not going to mod Fallout 4 and from what I have been seeing from lurking on the Nexus forums, a lot of modders aren't happy with Fallout 4. I feel this is only going to get worse once Skyrim Remastered comes out and the inevitable mass mod theft we are going to see from that.

I mean, most of the Top 100 Skyrim mods have been left alone since 2013, 2015 at most. Imagine being all chill in your house and all of the sudden, you have 999+ emails asking for you to do some shit you might not even remember how it's done anymore.
God, Special Edition will be a disaster. I feel sorry for them already.

I mentioned this in a different thread, but for myself and a few close modders I speak with, releasing a major/popular mod is an ordeal in itself. Having the popular mod out for years allows a lot of the nasty heat to die down and you can just sit back and sort of 'let it be' The idea of going through that all over again on the same mod is not appetizing.

Well modders are among the most enthusiastic fans of Fallout, and Fallout 4 upset nearly every actual Fallout fan, so I'm not surprised if modders aren't interested in working on or playing Fallout 4.

Post-release support is what takes up most of a modder's time, especially on a popular project. The only thing worse than customer service, is customer service on the internet for a product that nets you zero profit (and when factoring in man hours spent, has you running at a significant loss).

The mods that I've released for FNV are by no means 'high-profile' yet even on those, the sheer depth of some people's entitlement has almost completely stripped away my capacity to give any fucks whatsoever. I'm certain there are people who would misconstrue that as arrogance.

It's the double-whammy of ruining the franchise AND disrespecting modders that'll do it. All they're going to be left with is the casuals and guess what? They'll move on to the next big thing in 6 months and you'll be left with nothing, Bethesda. Good job.

The smartest thing for a studio like CD Projekt Red to do right now, would be to release mod support, at the same level Bethesda has provided, on their next release. The modding community would leave Bethesda in droves.
