As far as I'm concerned,Fallout 3 never happened. *spoilers*

There can be lots of explanations, nemetoad.

But you will never explain how these kids survived so long, when you have super mutants searching the wasteland for human flesh or new candidates for the FEV...

Since children are invincible they can not be eaten. Thus Supermutants have no interest in them ...

I actually loved it. The end was shocking (almost ruined the rest of the game for me), but it was a lot better then I thought it could have been. Keen to see if they can improve on FO3.

They won't have to try very hard, at least.

Well if Operaton Anchorage is their best try at "improvements" then we indeed have hard times infront of us ...

Damn it, that was so simple! Why am I such a moron? :P

One plot hole. Just one. Hole. Not holes. Hole. A hole that improved the story.

Replay value is vast. Male or female? Stealth or Tank? Good or Evil?

Mediocre? No. Not mediocre. F3 took the best elements of F1-2 (art design, setting, and lore) combined it with the epic Oblivion engine, and tossed in some fun references, like how Those! is based off of Them! So yes, they did a damn fine job.

Are you friggin' kidding me? ONE plot hole?
I don't suppose you'd like to explain which hole that was?

Changing gender or weapon preference does not equate to 'replay value'. And there is no good or evil. You can go back and forth every 10 minutes if you want.

And let's get this straight - one or two references throughout the game, such as to 'Them!', doesn't measure-up to actually having a random encounter with the Bridgekeeper from Monty Python and the Holy Grail, or the Knights themselves.

Spoken like a true Fallout pagan.

I agree with everything written by dingohunternigel.

And I would add that Bethesda did not take "art design, setting and lore" they merely molded it to fit their own designs. It is not "Fallout" I am playing when I play their game, it's not Oblivion either but it's not Fallout. It's a unique experience but it is a fleeting one. Fallout 3 will never be a measurable fraction of what Fallout 1, 2 and even Tactics to a lesser extent, and as a game it will fade from time while the simplistic, 500 mbs of Fallout 1 and 600 of Fallout 2 shall stand timeless and forever as juggernauts of the elite class of games known as CRPGs.

This is all very entertaining to read. But to come to some kind of final conclusion, isn't it best to see this game simply as another addition to the Fallout series, not necessarily its successor. Just like Fallout Tactics and Brotherhood of Shit. Lets work some cool mods out together or something.

This whole discussion should rather go in this direction:

Fallout Fan: "I like Bananas."
Bethesda Fan: "I like Apples."
F.F: "Eeeewww."
B.F: "And I like Bananas too. They taste as good as Apples."
F.F: "God, you're stupid. Don't you see? It's all a scam to get your money. Look at those huge worms in your Apple."
B.F: "There are some brown parts on your Banana, dude."
F.F: "You're right. C'mon, lets smack that UT n00b over there and then we buy some nice fruits from his money."
We like bananas because they have no bones.

"Gruck, lets eat dose boyz!"
"Raaaargh, good idea! They are soft and purty!"
"Ack, my teeth broke!"
"Dis meat is too hard, Gruck don't like!"
"Me too, too hard, like steel!"
"Try beating the meat with something, Gruck!"
"I just broke my steel pipe, Mok!"
"Les go, dem, they children be too damn hard to eat!"

Remember, If you don't like what beth have done with Fallout 3, There's always the G.E.C.K. which will allow you to well, change it to something better...

(Secretly looking forward to a Community developed FO3 plot Overhaul mod)

Core of the game remains. Mods can only make it less annoying to play. fake titties on a zombie, man.

you guys still play FO3?

Woooow...

after my 1st play-through, a 2nd to see what I'd missed and several attempts at having fun, I uninstalled it some time ago,

But If you guys are still playing.. well...

*ahem...*

[uncomfortable silence]

.. if you're happy.

Well, not me. I just flame the hell out of it to get rid of the frustration from RL.

<snip>

It's that one huge gaping plot hole in the place where the story should've been ^___^

Well maybe if they make it more about a perpetual battle for survival I might be interested. Lower the level cap and make high level enemies really good. Make it more about not dying than grind and mobs.

And that game is called Guild Wars. Well, sorta lol

about lamplight and the parents mystery .. well, people can have childrens pretty young. Especially in a post-apo world where survival of the specie becomes less civilized. But i doubt this is the official answer tho.

about F3 ... there's part i enjoyed, not as a fallout game, but really as an oblivion with guns. Dungeons, monsters, leveling, exploring. it can be fun.
But, i couldn't forget about the title on the box. it says : Fallout 3. And so everytime i met a NPC, with its same boring lines, stupid gamebryo moronic face and its monocord voice acting, i felt like throwing the game thru the damn window.

Well i could say more about what i felt playing F3 but im kinda tired right now,and i feel my english is at its limits right now.

Hope fallout online will make me forget about all this bethesda half-assed shit. http://www.fallout-on-line.com/
