As far as I'm concerned,Fallout 3 never happened. *spoilers*

You get different companions, Megaton's existence changes, you'll either get into Paradise Falls for free or 500 caps. You're right to an extent, though. I would've liked the Main Quest to change.

1, 2, 3, 4.

FOUR instances.

In the *entire* game.
I'm not entirely sure that's all, though. Also, how were the original Fallouts affected by Karma?

Simply put, they weren't. Half of it came from the fact that mistakenly all characters were flagged as non-evil, the other from the fact that it wasn't as important as, say, your character's statistics and decisions made throughout the game.

Also, I hear a lot of the original Fallout guys are working on Fallout the MMORPG. Keep yer fingers crossed....

From my understanding, Interplay has hired at least Chris Taylor back.

But... something about standing around waiting for a group of Raiders to respawn so you can complete a quest just seems to kill the idea for me.

Well maybe if they make it more about a perpetual battle for survival I might be interested. Lower the level cap and make high level enemies really good. Make it more about not dying than grind and mobs.

Then again I suppose that's the lifeblood of MMO's...

fallout 3 is not so bad, kinda fun, but there are better shooters out there.

i hate the illusion of freedom of choice, because you don't get to chose when it really matters... from begining to end you cant really do things your way thats the real flaw on fallout 3.

that and the fact that i feel the world is pretty much void, in fallout 1/2 i felt that there was a lot of life on the wasteland.

fallout 3 should be a step up from fallout 1 and 2, instead its just a step in another direction.

As much as I don't want to go back and play Fallout 3 it seems like I can't find another good game to play. 1 and 2 are dead to me now. I played the hell out of them and can hold no interest while playing them anymore.

I don't know, it could be done well if it was left to be entirely player-centric. Of course, we see how that kinda ends up with the Russian FOOnline project. But rather than it being the players vs the mobs, if it was the players vs the players, it could work well. Eve Online is a good model of this, although it gets bogged down and eventually becomes a job with deadlines and work hours and asdasdafgfsdhgjdlkhdlhjd;l';k;'k. *dead*

How big are the chances for a Fallout 3 restoration project ?

F3C? (MOD)

Pretty big since it seems that huge amount of interesting dialogs, quests and locations that are part of journalist version of F3 were cut from the commercial version.

Maybe they will add it in with the add ons.
Are we talking here about Van Buren or Bethesdas Fallout version. Quite a bit confused about that right now.

Though I was talking about a project to give Bethesdas Fallout the Fallout like feeling it should have in the first place. Or maybe even a project to finish Van Buren and port it to Bethesdas Fallout engine ? It would be quite some ambitious project.

I figured out there's another problem with Fallout 3's lasting appeal: the graphics. In Fallout 1/2, the graphics were low enough and there were enough generic character models for people to change the whole world. With Fallout 3, that's not possible

Perhaps not the exact right topic but at least it mentions Fallout 3 mods.

Fixing the existing Fallout 3 storyline/quests is not an easy job and I wonder if its not better to start all over again from scratch.

Another alternative I can think of is treat FO3 as if it has happened but not continue to much on it; the stuff that really annoyed people and pissed on the canon such as the Enclave and the Super Mutants/EEP as examples.
Instead a mod/fan expansion would introduce more new stuff and continue on to things like the BOS/Outcasts situation.

There are some issues (the vampire quest broke for me and I ended up having to kill all of Arefu) but there are some excellent quests too like the Blade Runner one (much better than the side-quests in Fallout 1+2 bring X A's to B). And btw, it is the Colonel who tells the soldiers to kill you, the President doesn't change his mind. But I did feel that part of the game was way too short and rushed compared to the ages of subways at the start.

Well maybe if even fans of the game complain about the main quest, then Beth will at least redo it in a patch or expansion. Always better to have the developers fix their own errors than fans.

Bah, what am I saying? Beth has already moved onto the expansions. More money to be had in releasing a conveyor belt of paid plugins and expansions than fixing a game they have already sold to you.

Do you really think that Beth will fix the writing issues that Fallout 3 had? This is Beth after all, I think they only released 2 patches for Oblivion.

Well. To "fix" it. And I mean make a trully good story out of the game would mean either 1) a much higher concentration on the writting and reworking the whole plott of the game with all its holes or 2) hiring more skilled writters and let them work on it.

Neither of it is very likely to happen, and it probably will not happen. It is only my idea, but I am inclined to think the ending how we see it and the change with the DLC was completely intentionaly and eventualy a marketing idea to boost the sales of the Broken [game] DLC. What I expect is a small change in the way you end the game. No ground breaking "omg awesome dialogue now!" change ... thats not how Bethesda is doing things.

Tells alot about the company. They were already ciriticsed for it already back then when they released this horse armor instead of patches. I am curious to see how long they will continue support this time ...

I just finished this game. Holy shit. And I promptly registered and am a NMA supporter.

Great post. The idiocy of the writters.... Fawkes can`t be harmed by radition, but he "doesn`t want to deny me my destiny"?? Makes me want to kill people... animals... plants... everything...
