Bethesda dev speaks

Yeah but it's not as if these new weapons went and replaced the old Fallout ones as far as I know. They were just additions.
They replaced the "fictional retrofuturistic weapons" theme with "RL experimental weapons".

The problem is that Fallout could have a MP5 but it didn't - it had a MP9.
It could have an AK-47 or M-16 but it had an AK-112.
It could have a Pancor Jackhammer but it had a Combat Shotgun.
They are all derivatives of old/modern weapons but look different and often have different parameters. They are Fallout weapons.

Of course they can make a 5mm Carbine with high magazine capacity or a drum fed combat shotgun - but they should stay fictional and heavily stylised.

OK, here's a solution that meets the above criteria, but still fulfills the cries of my inner baby screaming "But I want the Jackhammer. The Jackhammer! WAAaaaaa!"

We modify the Jackhammer Mk3A1 design ( of which there are only two known existing prototypes, about as far to the edge of RL as you can get) to a new Jackhammer Mk3B9 model. The major modification is that it now has a laser sight, but instead of projecting a 1/4 inch dot, it projects a 1 foot circle designating the area of maximum effectiveness.

If this doesn't look futureristic enough (http://world.guns.ru/shotgun/sh10-e.htm)
additions could be made: a blinking LED, or maybe an air foil, or my personal favorite, a cup holder.

Could we both eat this piece of cake?

PS:

The thing that drew me to the Pancor was that it looked WAY more "retrofuturistic" than the Combat shotgun. I didn't find out it was a real design until after my first runthrough.

I like the rhythm of "retrofuturistic". It makes me want to start a conga line.

That may just be the problem, though. The fact that most of us knew it was a real design while you didn't.

Well, that sums up the problem. Purity of Fallout setting is more important than your "inner baby" and "I want! I want !! I WANT!!!".

And it doesn't meet the above criteria. There's no place for Pancor Jackhammer or P90 or CAWS or whatever modern RL weapon in Fallout's divergent universe of future of 50s.
Get it.
The technology evolved in different way.
They got fucking different weapons.

Non argument, non relevant, typical attack the dessenter not the issue.

What? I did not attack you, but illustrated a possible reason why you feel it *does* fit and most other people don't.

I understand now. My perceptions and desires are self serving and infantile, but your higher evolved capacities give you the wisdom and insight to cast Solomnic justice to preserve the true purity of Fallout.

Well Mulla Sorrow, I'm sorry, I thought we were just two Fallout fans talking about what made the games fun for us and my comments were just an admission that when all is said and done these are all just opinions, and I was trying to find common ground for a more unified appeal to Bethesda.

I would challenge both premises, first that only a player with pre existing firearms expertise give them better qualifications to judge the issue, and second, that most people don't feel that it fits. I've seen a reasonable number of posts that support my position.

Maybe we should have a poll-off. I would be willing to submit to any position surpassing the 50% mark.

Dear troll, it's clearly visible that you have no clue what are you talking about and where you are. This is NMA. "I want! I want!! I WANT!!!" doesn't work here. Nor trolling and "All is just an opinion" bullshit.

Opinions aren't equal, dumbfuck. You have no fucking clue about what you're talking about. When all is said, your opinion isn't worth a shit because it isn't based on original Fallout's future of the 50s alternative history design, but on "I want! I want!! I WANT!!!" and on Black Isle's monty haul fest which was already condemned by Tim Cain.
Your trolling and empty smooth talking won't change it.

Great idea. We need nothing more than a clueless troll encouraging Bethesda to rape the Fallout's canon.

Dear Mulla Sorrow,

I now see the light. Thank you for teaching this pitiful dumbfuck troll that clearly has no clue the error of his empty smooth talking bullshit and for confronting the will of Allah. His will is done and it is blasphemy to speak of changing it. I now understand how the inclusion of Satans Pancor would repeatedly rape the cannon into a Mario Party FPS.

I have now donned my burka over the explosives (yes, I am a pansy boy and would implore you to refer to me a such in the future) and am awaiting your instructions whether to target Bethesdas reception desk or the local Dunkin' Donuts where the infidel developers plot over their Coffee Coolatas.

Um...

You sound like someone telling everyone they don't have a say to a game being made for them to spend money and time on.

Well that's the difference between hardcore Fallout fans and people who "like" Fallout. We educate ourselves, we think about what made Fallout Fallout first and then we make wishes.

Hello everybody :)

I'm a really big Fallout fan, and seeing that Bethesda is developing the F3 doesn't make me feel good, and i notice it's the general feeling on this forum.

My favorite game genres were point and click adventures and fallout+arcanum rpg's. I have tried playing various fantasy rpg's, but just lost interest after a few hours. I've played some games from TES series, but, while visually pretty amazing, couldn't interest me enough to keep playing.

You all know what is happening with adventure genre, and if all the speculations about fallout 3 come true, i'll be left without favorite games to play...

While i have nothing against Bethesda, i would rather that fallout series stay dead than that i get my hopes up and be left dissapointed. While i believe getting the fallout license was a dream come true for some Bethesda devs, i really hope that they will have respect for the series, and leave things like turn based combat and isometric view, but that isn't highly probable. I'm hoping for this mainly because of my selfish reasons, as one poster in this thread said something in the lines of "99.9% of games are made for that gaming public, leave those 0.1% to us."

IMHO, stalker(altho being primarily an FPS) covers the field that oblivion-like fallout3 would be.

Apologies for the bad english

Amen brother. I wholeheartedly concur.
