Bethesda hunting down Fallout 3 leak

@Killzig: lol, he almost looks like a mini Tom Sizemore there. He's probably just as angry too.

Maybe leaking a game is the gaming industry replacement of going to work with a shotgun and a rifle and killing everything that moves.
Maybe a disgruntled Fallout fan couldn't bear the stress of taking part in raping of Fallout and finally snapped and released the game :P .
I actually wondered this myself. Some people don't quite have their priorities straight.

I wonder when a game company is going to be smart enough to make every pre-release copy they send out slightly different, so they can always find the leak.

Some companies do...

As to the source, well heres my 2p worth as an industry insider.

The game has gone gold, which means its at the duplication factory, leaks are not unknown of at the duplicators. So highest chance is it got leaked there. The lowest chance of a leak is from the Dev Team itself. I've never heard of a Dev leaking a game, thats taboo, its just something that is not done.

my money would be on the production plant (or somewhere down that line) or localisation teams.

and yes, many development houses do mark their review copies in some way, though often it's not on totally individual basis.

much like the movie industry in that aspect.

but there's a lot of people around the dev team. other IT staff, interns, hell, even family.

a lot of companies do a lot of little things (subversion numbers, Specific items placed in game where it cant be got at and so on) to diferetate the game all the way down to the individual installs

The production plant was something I thought of too. I don't have any knowledge of how it works exactly, but my example was one of the workers simply tucking a disk under his jacket and walking out with it. Once he was at home, that's where he started his own form of duplication.

Anyone clever enough to get a copy wouldn't be stupid enough to torrent the game from his personal computer.

Bethesda's si just wagging it's cock around to make it appear larger than it is in reality.

I think it was this guy who leaked it:

Bethesda: You RUINED our hype!
Pirate: Yup!
Bethesda: I will hunt you down!

Bethesda will be made an example of like many other media companies before it. Some say this isn't normal pirating. But just to let you know, it is. Why do you think "The Scene" exists. They get leaked media, and release it onto top sites, which are then released onto p2p networks and torrents. I'm not advocating piracy but this comes as no surprise to me. I think its funny actually. I got tired of their BS previews and demonstrations. Maybe they can just release already so I can see what they did to damage the IP. I think this happened due to Bethesda incompetence. A lot of game companies who have made popular games have managed to keep everything secure. Now all they can do now is make sure the official release of the game has something the leaked copy doesn't have.

Lucky for them it was not the PC version that got leaked, but the Xbox 360 version. Not many are willing to make modify their console to run pirated media.

i wonder what perk and karma hit one gets for leaking f3. can they come back in 24 hours and the bethesda crew will have forgiven them? maybe they didn't receive enough warning what they were doing was evil and they just followed a quest arrow?

Also, I don't really think this was their final version. I could be wrong though. *shrugs* But it did not seem very polished to me.

Playable, and "just alright", but certainly not a grand work of art.

LOL! yeah, um...have you ever seen the final release of Oblivion?

its the same thing as pc the only diference its the pad so all the quest and endings are there, looks like somebody counldt handle the HORROR they were doing there and leaked the game , ¿that bad was the rape beth did at fallout 3?

to make matters ?worse? there was a spoiler attack on beth main forums with the plot of the game and ending ... fun stuff

lol, the game is leaked out and there is nothing they can do about it except finding the guy who was responsible and unleash all their anger at him. which wont bring the profit they just lost for this...mm.."disaster"

lets hope they can find the "right" guy.

Maybe some hardcore fallout fan did it who works in bethesda?

Oops, I shouldn't be saying that, but Beth is not reading these forums anyway :P

Sadly I haven't seen any of those videos...

Good hunting Bethesda! May the extra money you raise by catching the pirate not shine at you in the dark

me neither, I dont like to see videos from games i want to buy. I mostly rely on feedbacks.

the game might not be a fallout game, but it sounds like it has some good storyline behind it...therefore fun to play. I think I'm going to buy it nevertheless, regardless of the funny things in it that bash fallout lore in quiet a few places...but I'm an Oblivion fan too, so...

Or Morrowind? Or Daggerfall?

Releasing games with a ton of bugs is their M.O.

That's what they deserve for ruining our sequel with their FPS. And they done it only because they're going to get more sales for this than for a RPG.

Who the hell would create a game that will be played mostly by people who haven't played the previous games from the sequel!? Seriously, if this is really much like Oblivion with guns, I would prefer playing some mods for Fallout/Fallout 2 (like Restoration Project, MIB88's Megamod, Mutants Rising...).
