Bethesda's Fallout 3 forums opened

Here's where heavy-handed moderation puts you at a disavantage. NMA, DAC, RPGCodex, we've been dissecting RPG basics for years and years through open discourse. Sure it gets heated once in a while, there might be some spam in the middle, but I've never seen such a passion for debating the finer points of an RPG as I have on those sites. And I credit most involved for using logic and reason to support their arguments rather than personal preferences. You have a culture on the Bethesda Boards which is coddled, and babysat, where heated debate is a no-no. I don't think they know how to react when someone calls out their B.S. using logic, examples and facts.

His whole little comment was a strawman anyway, because I haven't seen anyone advocate using the original engine or some 2D simulation.

The horror! The horror!!

I scanned through the Bethesda forums for about half an hour and had to stop when my eyes began to bleed.

Bradylama didn't pick up his reply to my post, then, he quoted my "knowledge is power" and, of the top of my head, said something like "The irony of that remark is not lost on me." and then asked for more clarification. I typed out a reply, only to be snubbed with a "thread deleted"

His last reply was just about as bad as his first post. I too was in the process or replying to his last post when i got the thread deleted message.

Truth be told, I'd rather they used the old engine than some Oblivous rip-off. That said, none of the fans are really recommending an out-dated engine... we just want a game that's faithful to the original. That's what the "3" indicates.

You are aware that, in Oblivion, you could position the camera in such a way that the game perspective was close to an isometric point of view, right?

Close.., it was still behind your hero just from high above and moving while running and it was unplayable that way. So Oblivion would be unplayable in isometric view as fallout would be unplayable in ego perspective, thats a conclusion.
But another is that Gamebryo for sure can be used for a isometric game.

Christ so the post was deleted... I posted before I went to work then came home to find it vanished... lame.

"A PipBoy interface, but with TRENDY COLORS!!!"

I've been browsing through that thread for the past hour. They've started debating whether the rights of women in the 50s were adequate enough to support the existence of "The PIPGIRL!!!" in Fallout 3!

It might as well turn out to be Oblivion with Guns, and people's main concern is whether it wil have "The PIPGIRL!!!" in it or not...

A pink PipGirl would be the final insult.

Now I understand why some people go crazy when the Koran or Bible is desecrated.

I really hate stupid non-roleplayers bringing politics into games :/ .

I'm starting to understand people that go postal  ...

Oh now you understand the meaning of religion. Only after you can find a gaming metaphor. I'm thinking of putting that in my signature. It's priceless.
