Betheseda's claims 111,000 lines of dialogue for FO4

Same reason people still pre order games even after the Arkham Knight fiasco. They are idiots.

The real test of consumer idiocy will be the result of the Deus Ex "Augument your preorder" campaign. If they pull it off, we truly know that all hope is lost.

Oh that... I watched the trailer and was shocked people went for that. It was a money grab fist to your face.

"... most effective, most emotionally-engaging storytelling opportunities..."

I basically tuned out at this point, I was laughing too hard to actually listen to any more, I feared for my heart.

"I AM LOOKING FOR SOME SLAVES, HAVE YOU SEEN ANY?"

Yes. Effective and emotional, yep. (More or less verbatim line from Leroy in Fallout 3 btw)

Brian and Courtenay of course are going to say positive things about the dialogue and game to advertise it, regardless of how it turns out.

Emotionally engaging storytelling isn't necessarily a bad omen. I think Fallout 1 and 2 were emotionally engaging, as was New Vegas (particularly considering the companion quests).

I WANT emotionally engaging, I just don't expect Bethesda to deliver that. Well... except in the form of despair.

"Fallout 3 will have over 200 endings"

This is quite possibly true for the same reason. I mean, if you have to record a line twice to use different gendered pronouns because the protagonist can be male or female, that's two lines. If you have to record it with gendered language *and* to reflect the choice of three potential outcomes of a quest, that's six lines!

I mean, the 200 endings thing was technically true in the most meaningless sense, so this might be as well.

No, it is not, but I doubt Bethesda's writers are able to deliver in that aspect, and that is saying a lot.

Either way, 110,000 lines of dialogue is not that hard to work with when you are working in a multi-billion dollar company. Let us not forget the fact this is the first game in the series to featured a voiced protagonist.

I think thesmall sample of dialogue we have seen from the demos is enough to realize Bethesda hasn't really improved in that aspect.
Just go and take a listen to the Preston Gravy guy....

I'm really wondering if they'll take this voiced protag shit to Elder Scrolls. Would be weird with all the different races using the same voice.

Why not just limit the race to one only!

And then buy a Khajit DLC only $4.99 with optional voice acting for $0.99, if you buy all the races in bulk you get voice acting free of charge!
Pre-order pack will contain 3 random races with their respective voice-acting.

Why would they allow character creation ? Isn't it a bit too hardcore for an RPG ?

Oh shit, Lol. "There was 30 of us, Then 8, Now only 6" We need help

Player: "k"

*Transitions to power armor scene*

Holy shit, Such Emotion, Much Sadness, Wow.

lol they don't even need to bother with Radiant AI as it was originally meant to be, people have shown they'll go out and buy Beth's crap regardless of quality, why bother putting effort into Radiant AI when they can just do more of the same. What we will get plenty of is infinitely repeating pointless Radiant Quests, however. No doubt a bunch of those will be tied to building your base, since it'd take too much effort to actually put real quests in the game.

"Radiant AI" to them is:

- Eat same moldy 200 year old bread from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- Repeat same lines to player from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

I don't expect much improvement but maybe they'll have super smart AI that won't say "Must be my imagination"(even though an arrow is sticking out the side of their head) every time you shoot them.
