Caleb Cleveland's non-FOOL FOOL art

Caleb Cleveland is a concept artist who has done some work for FOOL. While that work, like all things related to Interplay's project (including the fact that it is FOOL), is behind lock and key, he has revealed some of the art he did as a response to the brief. So unused, but as close to FOOL art as we'll get for a while.

Wow, I love his versions of the Power Armor. Really cool pics.
Also, I can't wait for FOOL, but I guess since OBT3 of FOnline: 2238 is on it's way it might hold me down for a bit. :P

not bad at all.

second gun in the last pic is missing the front sight post though.

wonder if the rifle in the first picture is influenced by Borchardt's action at all... hmz. looks pretty useless though.

I'm really, really trying to not get excited about this game and then you go and show me this!
I like his interpretations of power armor as well, his concepts are, thankfully, heavily tied to the 1950's. It's as if after he designed, he took a step back and asked if the style was appropriate in Fallout or not.

Very nice, I can't wait until Interplay cancels this project, we wait 5 years or so, and get new stuff from developers!

I wonder how the top one works what with a cylinder and a clip. It's like a BAR and a 10mm pistol made love and this is the result.

The first armor looks like straight from Fallout 3, so meh.

Second and third ones are very nice, though. Also, I love the gun in the middle of the last pic, other two look kind un-Fallout (upper looks like retro-western and the last is too 50).

In terms of *quality*, each and every is top notch.

Yep, the first armor looks very similar to Beth's version.

The third armor looks pretty good, though the legs are way too skinny for the upper body. It's a bit unbalanced.

The power armor in the first 2 pictures also has the Brotherhood of Steel logo on it... What's up with that?

Shouldn't it be a Guardians of the Old Order or a Desert Rangers logo?

I agree with Ravager69 as well. The first armor looks like it was copied out of F3 and lightly modified. Bleh.

Yet again new power armors? How plausible it is they managed to create billion different versions of state of the art technology in such a short time, after which they just pop up at random intervals in the wasteland without any sign of previous existence? Even the armors in Fallout 2, which were created after the war, are far-fetched.

Guns in Fallout are very basic and bland with lesser extent energy rifles but including them too. This is their appeal for me. They are just guns - stock, barrel and trigger. These and the Fallout 3 ones are all gadgety.

the same way the 10mm Auto pistol worked in FO1 & FO2. ;)
it looks like the pistol got on steroids and grew into a rifle. check the front grip style etc. it's all the same.

btw, it's called a magazine.

I dont know I like those Power armor concepts much more then what I have seen in Fallout 3.

Its marketing, no one knows or cares about the original games (other then us), so they make it look similar to F3's art so the Fallout 3 fans feel at home.

my head hurts.

Yeah, it looks like a slightly different interpretation of the T-45d.

Notice the "golden armor" is called T-51c.

And note that the Caleb did get a brief with some ideas on what to do. It's quite possible FOOL will follow Fallout 3 somewhat in art direction, for whatever reason.
