Classified US military video depicting slaying of civilians

Agreed.

They were in an attack helicopter, plenty out of the range of an RPG. The guy shoots into a group of people, who he can see don't have weapons. Then shoots into a van, again with no armed people. Sounding far too happy about the situation that he's getting to kill people.

I don't think anyone is arguing that the helo was in danger. Is an RPG a danger to ground forces.....YES. The helos cover ground forces. Some of the people in that group were armed. In the "huddle"? Maybe not, but in that area, associated with the people in the huddle, again YES. And what the hell were fourteen fighting age armed men doing in a back alley anyway? Collecting for UNICEF?

I agree about the van though, they didn't do anything threatening at all. If anything went out of their way to show they were unarmed. The initial strike though, absolutely justified.

No thanks, enforcing the will of a group of old white men on people without their consent isn't really a hobby of mine, I'll still pay my fair share of military wages and benefits with my also hard earned money, though.

Which you should be glad to pay taxes in the first place as it supports the USA, Even I pay taxes buddy ... However I get free college while I am in the Military and I get free college when I am out, now that I can defininetly thank you for ... so thanks buddy, I appreciate you paying for part of my college.

About people being upset how "cheery" the men are while killing civilians... Its called deer fever. And also the reason marines sound like blood thirsty murdering bastards, thats called training. It kinda is necessary to instill that bloodlust, because thats the important thing to have on a battlefield.

Way back when, maybe WWII or Korea, the military realized some our boys were "shooting high" IE shooting to miss the enemy. What human wants to kill another human? It is not common to have the killer instinct.

So targets on the rifle range changed from bullseyes to a human silouette, and propaganda posters had cartoon "Ivans" that looked scary/evil.

Can't talk about other armies but well it doesnt happen in Germany though.

And I think even in the foreign legion if I remember correctly as they teach their soldiers to respect the enemy. But I am not sure about that. Just what I have read.

Hurr, respect, who need dat for hadjis. :P

now I see. Well why should you not grant them respect ? Cause they are terrorists. I know youre proably more or less ironic. But still. One of the problems in my eyes is that most of the fighters get to easily classified as "one" group (and often enough simply terrorists) when you really have many different fighters. At least in Afghanistan only a very small minority are actually realy fanatics while the most beeing mercenaries. Or others simply believe to fight against some occupying force like they did against the Soviets. Many havnt seen anything else then fighting in the last 30 years. Particiularly this kind of fighting. To now believe all of them would be the same kind of people only in need for wars for the sake of killing would be naive though. There are enough ex-taliban fighters which either gave up that life (for example after the Soviets gave up Afghanistan) and did not wanted it anymore. Many of their fighters, the usual ones which see combat all the time, can suffer from battle fatigue just as any US, German or French soldier. Many of them just as like we have families. I mean we see in the US people perform hate speches and we see religious fanatics. We see idiots in TV which cant find their own state on the map. But does it mean that just cause we see those people we should assume this is true for every US or european citizen ? Just as we have diversity here you can find that in Afghanistan or Iraq.
