So what are you watching and what are you looking forward too? What do you think about some of what's on?

To get this started-

I am looking forward to the Walking Dead, and while I generally like the TV show more than the comic (graphic novel my ass) I think last season got a bit slow at Hershel's farm, and I liked what I saw about where the show was going.

Regarding the comic/graphic novel Walking Dead- I think its getting repetitive and the writer is beating a dead horse.

I was actually rather pleased with Fallen Skies over the summer.

Not sure what to make of the new show Revolution, the first episode seemed to pack in an unusually high body count and introducing an uncle who is kind of a ninja fighter seemed a bit of a stretch.

I thought Breaking Bad was disappointing last season, I like the show but the last season seemed labored.

Been watching old seasons of Fringe and Battlestar Gallactica - enjoying both, although Fringe is getting repetitive.

Love Downton Abbey although I am wondering why no one is really that concerned that the central romance is between cousins. Hello, inbreeders?

I think Hell on Wheels has gotten better this season.
 
Watched the complete Dexter series released so far. It's good to see them finally wrapping it up because they dragged for a couple seasons and it was pretty noticeable. I still like the show, but it's not my favorite.

Game of Thrones sure is though. The finale for season two left me eager to see more, but the wait is going to be a pain in the ass.

I'm up to season five on Breaking Bad. Parts of it have dragged a little, but generally it seems to flow pretty well.
 
But don't you think Season 1 of Game of Thrones was better than Season 2?

I think the best parts of Season 2 were when Tywin and Arya were interacting. They were both great. Tyrion carried much of the rest of the season. The Jon Snow stuff was just dragged on and I am looking forward to most of the rest of the cast getting killed off. I do hope to see more of the Master of Spiders though. Dani and the "I want my Dragons!!!" was getting a bit repetitive.

Hard to say really. I thoroughly enjoy the War of Kings for some reason. Tyrion really is the backbone of the show, and I agree Snow's plot dragged a little long, but I see why they did it. Dani was the most annoying part of the show thus far, I honestly hate her character with a passion, so I could do with less of her, but I don't see that happening anytime soon.
 
Do you really care for any of the of Baretheons? Or the Lannisters besides Tryion? Tywin is wonderful to watch though. I know he's doomed, but still, he's a lot of fun. The Starks are getting a bit boring too, except Arya. I like Bronn, but Tyrion has got to realize that his strongest allies are hires. That was the lesson taught by the Hound when during the battle he basically said, "fuck this, I quit." Littefinger is fun to watch too. Glad to see the White Walkers... finally, and the big battle.. finally... I know the show is following the books and I am still reading through them. But the Lovejoys? I think the Lovejoys are secretly worshippers of Cthulhu. But it seemed a lot of the show was waiting for something to happen, and taking its time getting there.

I did like Renly and his wife a little bit, but I find myself liking Stannis for some reason. He does have a legitimate claim to the throne after all. Robert was probably my favorite out of that bunch. I really like Jaime too for reasons I don't entirely understand, maybe it's his brutal honesty. Tywin is pretty entertaining to watch especially with Arya close by most of season two. Jaqen H'ghar is probably my one to keep a eye on because he is pretty badass, especially at the end of season two. Jorah is the only thing that makes the dragon plotline bearable for me. Melisandre is kinda hot too. At least it doesn't drag like Breaking Bad is though right?
 
Watching season 5 of Sons of Anarchy currently. It is quite nice, but I am slowly getting annoyed from all the "I love you brother" and "I love you, but..." There is so much love in this tv show, makes you wonder why they shoot each other.

Watching Dexter as well and yeah, I think it is getting a bit too long.

Also I am on the last season of Dr. House right now. Not bad either, but I liked the first few seasons a lot more. I hate that House fucked up with Cuddy so bad. That's not how I wanted it to end.
 
Well I watch cartoons too.

I am very excited for the second part of season 2 of Young Justice starting this saturday, Holy crap do they take a long time to animate this show.

I too am watching GOT, and I can't get enough of it. From what I've read regarding the books, a couple of the TV show's dragging points are an unfortunate result of how they decided to change the depiction of some of the characters. For example, Dani isn't NEARLY as irritating in the books, and you get the sense that she's much more noble and driven than she appears in the show. Jon Snow is also much more clever and forward-thinking in the books, meanwhile he comes off like a snobbish "Woe is me" bitch in the show. They almost made the same "mistake" with Robb Stark, though thankfully his portrayal in the show is coming off more badass than otherwise... if slightly oblivious.

Tyrion really did steal every single scene he was in, during Season 2. My favorite moment from the show was when he was schooling his evil, vile, conniving whore bitch of a sister in the first episode of the second season. "One? We had three Starks to bargain with. You lopped one of their heads off and let another slip away! Father will be furious. It must be hard on you... to be the disappointing child." I couldn't stop laughing/applauding when he said that! XD

I also adored the scenes where Tyrion and Varys were "bonding". Every chance you get to see the "world's" greatest actor/liar and master of spies being open and honest with someone that they genuinely respect is a golden moment you have to appreciate.

Other than GOT (which is on hiatus), I'm currently enjoying the latest episodes of the newest seasons of Boardwalk Empire and Castle. Boardwalk is just an amazing show, and even though I know so much about the history of prohibition, and that might "spoil the ending" for me in some senses, the show takes enough liberties with the historical events for the story to surprise. And surprise it most certainly does! I've found myself loving one character then loathing them later, and hating some characters then feeling saddened that they died. My appreciation for Castle is much more simple, by comparison. I liked Firefly, but Nathan Fillion wasn't the reason I started watching this show. I heard the premise, and it sounded good. Turns out it was REALLY good. Sadly, the show's gradually veering down the irritating road of popular cop-drama tropes, like super spies, instant forensics, and all those damned one-liners. But at the heart of the show, it's still following a pretty compelling central story, and the characters are and their motivations are the real heart of the series.
 
I don't like TV shows very much, and perhaps the last one I watched seriously was years and years back (a few Russian mafia 90s series, and early ER). However, I decided to take on the US Office adaption, and it seems like a fun adventure.
 
Sorry if this stings in your eyes (guess it will only apply to UK people though), but my favorite show on TV at the moment is The Great British Bake Off.

It's a show about people who wants to claim the title of best amateur baker in the UK (basically). It's not a degrading show like Hell's kitchen, but actually focuses on the art of baking. It also features some amazing characters. Great show that is extremely well put together! Can highly recommend it.

You will however get extreme cravings for whatever they bake. They're that good. You will also get a bit of a history lesson from time to time.

I cought the final 30 minutes of some-or-other movie the other day on the state channel, that really gripped me, but at the time I was too high to look it up. I was even thinking about it, while being too high... "I really should look it up, now that I have the chance. Come on... fight the apathy!"

Now I don't even remember what day it was :(

That show is annoyingly watchable. My parents used to watch it and I would get slowly sucked into the room.
 
I don't watch much TV: news, football and the occasional documentary. Oh and South Park.

Having said that, I'll echo the Game of Thrones posts.

Having read all the books first, I was slightly disappointed by the series - still, it's very good.

On the topic of the Lannister's, Jaime will develop into something more interesting and less overtly evil in future seasons. As for the Baratheons, yeah they are a pretty simplistic and/ or dull crowd. I was surprised that Renly was presented as gay in the series - in the books he is very close to Loras, however I don't recall any clear indication that they were fucking each other (whilst there are clear indications that Renly likes the ladies). On that note, I thought Loras Tyrell was pretty badly played/ designed.

Littlefinger stands out as the only character they managed to convey book perfect. (Though they came close with plenty of others).

That stuff was implicit in the books and there are hints, while it's actually pretty clear Renly does not like the ladies. The TV show just made it more explicit, but they didn't pull this out of thin air. You'll see it if you read the first book again.

They do this more often in the show, making implied things explicit (such as scouring the city for the Baratheon bastards). It's a necessity of the medium.

For that matter, I really enjoy the show because it does a few things differently from the books - and sometimes it does them better. Daenerys is a much more consistent character in the show than she is in the books, for instance.

This can hurt the subject if it's too strictly adhered to, however. For example, the lack of flashbacks to the events around the Tower of Joy. The show didn't establish the same characteristics of Ned Stark as the books, and it's entirely left to the viewers to decide if they BELIEVE that he's such a badass warrior, or honorable man; all the show gives them are the words of others. Meanwhile, it goes about doing its damnedest to make perfectly clear "don't trust what other people tell you", most clearly illustrated with the Lannisters, specifically Cersei (seriously, fuck her in SO many ways... fucking bitch). They implied many things about Ned Stark, then were explicit about others.
 
Young Justice Season 2 today.... holy fucking shiet, this is the BEST cartoon ever made about superheroes. The haters are just a bunch of anime geeks that don't recognize good characterization and world building because it doesn't hit them in the face. This one was calmer than the other episodes of this season, but that is an ice thing, going back to a more subdued pace.
I love this show. I want it in my veins.
 
People diss the DC cartoons? Ain't seen characterisation that fine in years.
What do you think of the Green Lantern stuff? Thinking of giving it a watch if I can find somewhere to watch it.
