Dragon Age II: now more like Mass Effect 2

Well, in fact, the footage we saw is part of an early version of said demo. It will have the initial escape from Lothering, then a quest later in the game. More details here http://social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/141/index/6095169 .

There's also some kind of promotion where, if there are 1 million downloads, everybody receives 2 free in game items come release. Not a bad idea, I guess, but it seems they really don't advertise it enough for the number cap to actually hit imo, I mean, it's only in one of the many posts in the official forums. Knowing Bioware fans, however, some people with find a way to download it several times just for that. We'll see.

Please, it would have hit one million downloads without the item unlocks, it's on three platforms and DA:O was a hit on all three. This is just two free DA2 ads, all the gaming websites will cover the contest at the start and finish.

I hate to say it but this game looks like shit. I know it's not the most important thing but wtf?

Yay for sick teachers. Now I can play the demo. Link for those interested.

Honestly, I am overall pleased. The combat is actually better now, more faster paced but losing none of the tactical aspect that I liked. The melee Rogue and two-hander animations are ridiculous, but the rest is decent, and the Mage actually has very good animations this time, hell it seems like most spells get a different animation, Firestorm having an appropriately good one. If you liked Origins combat, you should like this game's too.

Visuals are improved, but not by much. It seems like they concentrated efforts on faces, and it shows, they are well animated overall, even if your brother looks derpy as hell and is a jerk to boot.

Writing is what you would expect in a Bioware game when the protagonists are fleeing a threat. Flemeth has some good lines, but they tried to force a situation where you are supposed to care about no less than two characters dying no more than 30 minutes into the game, but absolutely nobody seems to care about them more than throwing a few ''yeah, he was a good guy'' lines before moving on. Big failure on that part.

Oh, and Isabela's outfit :seriouslyno:.

But all in all it still convinced me to buy the game. Definitely picked my interest.

Thanks Sea, always value your criticizms. Never beat DA:O, never will, wont make a mistake falling for the hype again.

Having played the demo as a Warrior, overall the game's combat actually reminds me of Diablo. You clickclickclickclick incessantly (with the occasional extra click to select one of your uber abilities that deal TRULY massive AOE damage) and watch your character's ultra-fast hacking maneuvers as the enemies' health bars drop to zero before they explode in a storm of blood and brains.

I could stand a bit more fast-paced combat, but this is plain ridiculous.

not that i really care, but does the demo have a "boss" type battle, or at least something challenging? If its like Diablo, thats just sad.

After playing the demo, I have to agree with basically everything sea said. Combat is way over the top (though more fluent than in Origins), Hawke's voice actors, both male and female, are terrible indeed. Makes me wish for a mute character like the one from previous game. Aside from Varric and Flemeth, I haven't met any character I'd like to tag along or even talk to, but the worse of all is the forced, badly executed drama stories that pop up now and then...ugh, killed the game for me.

Never before have I played a demo of a game this shitty. This game seriously pushes the levels of shit and takes it to even more brown and green extremes. My god, talking about all the points of why this game is shit, is a waste of time. Seriously, *Bioware* made this? At least the first one held my attention somewhat, and Mass Effect isn't that bad. But this? Good lord. Even Fallout 3, in my eyes, is a masterpiece compared to this waste.

Managed to try it out on both PC and 360. 360 version is a tad better, but its obvious that was the intended audience. I put it on with all my buddies around and everyone one of them thought the game was bad. Even the hardcore Dragon Age fan of the group thought it had be jailhouse raped.

Perhaps I should talk some about it. The combat is completely hack and slash now. I don't mind hack and slash. I'm having a play through of The Force Unleashed as we speak. But this is not a good example of hack and slash. The party system I believe was supposed to add depth to the game, but I found myself sticking to one character and forgetting about the others. Having a party is just an illusion, they have no reason to be there.

The art style is just rancid. I usually don't give a fuck about graphics but this game just looked lifeless and empty. The dialogue is just atrocious. Only tolerable character was the dwarf in the intro. I gotta admit though, hearing the chantry girl talking to the dwarf was the best laugh I've had in awhile. Her accent is *terrible.*

If this is the future of RPG's, then I'm out, I'm done. I can find much better use of my time than this bullshit.

I don't understand this kind of product positioning coming from EA... What's the point of making a product, that competes with... your other product (ME)? Is the video game market so undeveloped that a scheme like this is a plausible way to make long term profits?

They are just streamlining everything into the same thing these days. It would be interesting to see some scientific research on the economic part of the video game industry. Wonder if there are any disertations on this topic :D.

I wonder if i spent my hours on DA:O just for nothing ...
But if the difficulty is almost the same then it can pass my clearance . Unless i need to press 4 buttons at once for some fatality move .

Actually putting (rather smashing) the normal attack button over and over again is enough. Press button XY for random skill each few seconds, and watch hundreds of trashmobs literally getting torn apart. Cutscene, Cutscene, Fight. That's Dragon Turd 2 in a nutshell.

Wow i mean just wow , what the hell .
I just saw many more videos of gameplay demo and even more comments .

And they think that their main audience , the console players , won't crack this bullshit ?
Bwhahahahaha . Fkin EA , just dumbfucks .
I will play this once and will not pay a single buck on it . All of my money goes to Crysis 2 and that's the only game they will get money from me, fuck this action derp age bullshit , they don't know the meaning of maximum power !

Disagree Surf. Maybe you played the console version (which will have an auto-attack toggle in the full version, yes not including it in the demo was stupid), but on PC, for me, it plays exactly like Origins but a bit faster and with those unnecessary flashy animations. Reviews that came out recently (mostly from German mags, not IGN bullcrap) say that the 'randomly press buttons' attitude is suicide at higher difficulty levels since your party dies very fast. Also, the mooks being torn apart easily in the beginning was intentional, to give the player a taste of power. Of course, if you disliked Origins combat then sure you won't like it here, but few things changed in that department.

Look, I am not saying the demo/game is perfect, I also have several issues with it (notably ridiculous animations and the failed forced emotional response) and think it was a poor demo overall, but saying it's hack-and-slash combat is just hyperbole. Reviews that came out say the full game is really better than the demo as an RPG

I thought the combat was pretty decent, it was fun and fast paced. But Jesus Christ, the dialogues in the demo...

Read the review and it has pretty much the same as most complaints about the demo. Also adds a few other things that make me think that I won't be bothering with it at all.

Yeah.

That was pretty much my experience with it.

The combat works a lot better now, less redundancy in the skill department but the dialogue is like... Ewwwwwww.

I played Devil May Cry thank you very much .
Don't need to press xyz for something to happen in Dragon Age or so i thought .
