Graphics ...., looks like sh*t, game play...., feels like sh*t.

    Action with pause strikes AGAIN!

And Uncanny Garlic is right, Okami is gorgeous. Sometimes I feel the march of 3D is a good thing when I compare basic graphics of certain things/games from its earlier counter parts. Pseudo 3 D games back then looked atrocious ..., and brown. But the problem is that ever since the technology became available, there is this need to do it because it's there. Graphics should follow game play/settings/stories/etc, not the other way around. Let's be honest, a lot of 3 D games these days still look like crap. So why hire 5000 animators to "3 D", when you can use the money to hire some good character designers/writers?

It looks like EA really pushed em to re-position the game. It started as a generic fantasy game, the site and game logo were all about it: wood, steel etc.

Now they remade the site, changed the logo for the game and made a new cover for it. It's now all bloody as shit.

check out the super-duper progress bar when loading.

I'm unable to count the many times they used the wording "gritty", "mature", "bloody", "violent", during the GameSpot interview/demo for the game.
They're really trying to push this "mature" game, it's anything but though, all I see is an edgier dumbed down Baldur's Gate.
And the promises of "indepth, emotional character relationships" make me laugh.

BioWare guys use more PR talk than Bethesda, it drips glibly from their tongues.
I still have some hopes for Dragon Age, the combat quite frankly doesn't look that bad, especially since I enjoyed Infinity Engine games such as BGII and IW a lot because of how well done the combat was on a basic level not considering the few imbalances the system possessed.
I just wish they wouldn't focus so much on marketing the superfluous story and character relationship side of the thing, really, so few people care, hardcore RPG gamer or not.

You have to be fair. This marketing approach comes more from EA than from Bioware....I doubt the actual game will be very much like this..... This just doesn't seems to be Bioware's style..

Besides, the Developers themselves said that this is all just marketing on their official forums when the fans got angry..

You know, Someone should kill all the marketing departments (and the telemarketers)
Untill now, I had pretty much given up on DA:O, its promotional vids and tidbits portraying a horrible action-gore fest ripoff. Then I found Game Banshee's Dragon Age preview

Sidenote: It is refreshing to read an article written by someone who knows what he is talking about, for a change.

I spent some time reading through the info on the game's site and some previews.

I must say I'm quite optimistic about it.

Im not sure Ravager, there seems to be some really good stuff in the game like the "gambit" system but the official site and the trailers etc don't even talk about such good stuff at all.

    Stuff like:
are virtually unknown. It is possibly the first real step in breaking the stupid AI circle and you need to hunt a bone needle sliver in a gigantic hay-stack to find such info.

Yes, but there is *some* interesting info about it on the main site, if you can dig through the "omg so much blood \ decapitated heads impaled on swords" thing.

Particulary the mages seem interesting, at least now being a mage is quite hazardous to your health (mental, too). I like how they are trying to make everything gray, but the way they do it reminds me of the Witcher very much. Like they were copying it, I mean.

Anyway - no level scalling, party members who can actually speak their minds and give you diffrent conversations depending on where you are and what are you doing, a new ruleset, instead of D&D. Specific commands for your companions...I see a lot of effort put into the game and, at last, some fresh ideas. This may be the next great RPG, though I remain sceptical.

That being said, their PR and promotion campaign is bad, very bad.

I agree that the PR and Marketing campaign for DA: Origins took a dive from OK to worse a few months ago. However, you cannot deny the fact that DA: Origins finally got the attention it deserved when Bioware made 'this is the new shit' trailer to premier at E32009. Suddenly everyone talked about DA: Origins which they for sure didn't do before - sex and violence will always get people's attention, I guess.

I also agree that the Gambanshee preview of DA: Origins is one of the best previews I have yet seen for a computer game.

Yeah, the Pa for this dreadful, to be sure. I'm remaining on the fence with this one, the setting is a little tried and true, but i'm hoping for at least SOME grey moral areas, my computer is on the frits right now, so I'm stuck using a shitty computer with 512 ram.

Which means, dun dun dun, I'll have to play Dragon age origins on console most likely.

I'm still getting it, as i'm sort of a brand whore with bioware, hoping that each release will at least be as GOOD as Kotor.

Well, if grey moral areas are what you like, Dragon Age will be better than KOTOR because this game seems to have more grey areas than KOTOR...

I don't know for sure cuz I haven't as of yet played the game...

I'm a bit annoyed with the PR shit too, but to be perfectly honest there aren't many single-player pc rpg's on the horizon and this one definitely seems like the most interesting one right now.

If I recall correctly, there was barely any interesting info about the game before the N3W Sh!T. Hard to be interested in a standard cRPG you know nothing aside it'll be turn-based.

I don't see why Bioware just doesn't make their fantasy RPGs turn based,or make it an option like in KOTOR.

You have to hit the space bar every 5-10 seconds in them anyways during combat.I know that NWN2 has the feature, listed above, that you can set up party members to react in certain ways to certain combat situations, but if i remember reading correctly you should only use it if you know what you are doing.

So just use a turn based system.Better yet institute a WEGO system,if their afraid that people would be taken out of watching the fighting, where you gave orders for that round or however many rounds.Add in combat reactions, because the situation will change from the orders you have given, and you wouldn't be interrupting the flow of combat any more than you have to do now.

Cant say that I care about the PR, but definitely will get this one. I have been waiting a long time successor to BG series and I hope it will be just that. Since NWN never even came close and I have no Idea when next Arkania game will be released.

I just read the latest issue of Game Informer and was suprised to find out its being released on the consoles.

I may be wrong, but didn't someone from Bioware say early on in their forums that the game wouldn't be done for consoles?

    Maybe i'm thinking of NWN2.

Good news for me though.I don't think i would have been able to play it on the PC.

Wait, so it's not point-and-click like Baldur's Gate? How is that going to work on consoles?
