Duke Nukem: Lost in New Vegas (Updated June 12th)

Hey I was wondering if you might put a link or something about some of the mods you've got going on here, or even just name them. Is that run the lucky 38 you have going on that adds all the casino folk?
 
Yeah I've been contemplating it a lot, but it still crashes a bit, is pretty buggy, and there are some minor quirks that would need to be addressed. I'm hoping he works that stuff out so I can add it. I would also need to add the road restoration mod too.


As for the mods, I did list the mod order. Check out the version over at the Order...The suite is added by Book of Earache which is available at VGUnderground. I'll try to list some links later maybe. Just ask and I will let you guys know what is what.
 
Yeah, I'd wait on XRE for a while unless you're ready to help do bug testing and the like. Not an ideal thing to use in a LP unless you want explosion powered cars.
 
Noting that you didn't download the level list patches for the Monster Mod, maybe you should go and fight in the Thorn against all the crazy shit MoMod adds.

Oh that takes effect there? Really? Will do. Yeah I wanted to see all of the crazy monsters it added before tweaking it. I don't like some of the changes that patch does, so I'm holding off.


Yep, that was what I was thinking too Wintermind.

Sometime I will be activating the zombie apocalypse mod too. Probably AFTER I do most of the quests, otherwise it would break some of them. Plus it tends to be unstable.
 
I love how quickly the game becomes unstable when you do basically anything to it. I don't remember if it was mentioned in this thread or another on here or somewhere else but I remember reading about how the Developers had to cut NPCs from areas to reduce the usage of RAM as they released DLC's.
 
Vegas is pretty unstable to begin with yeah though I had more trouble with random crashing in FO3. As I understand it they needed to cut npc's when they released DLC because the consoles couldn't handle it, with their limited resources. I know the cut npc's is true because the number of powder gangers roaming around primm steadily decreased as new patches got pushed out.
 
Yeah Bethesda's engine sucks dick. It's so immersive it crashes whenever you pass gas. My game is pretty stable tbh though. Zombie apocalypse adds hundreds of zombies, so it's kinda expected to crash every so often, due to the memory limit with the engine. That's usually why it crashes, due to the memory cap.
 
Jesus Christ those insects are horrifying. If they were in the vanilla game I would be too afraid to even touch the game cover.
 
Man, the way that some of those guns clip in first person would drive me up the wall. Definitely like that shield and that whole segment though.

Honestly, I haven't noticed a lot of clipping. After I'm done with the Suite at Lucky 38 (Some clever reason I suppose) I may be removing Book of Earache and adding the Armory, or something equivalent. I have had minor gripes with BoE so far. A few of the weapons aren't as good as the others, but the ones that are good, are pretty awesome. It's even worse that the mod author was a giant douchebag, that left the mod in an unfinished state, which is why some of the issues are still around.

My main worry is removing the mod halfway through the Let's Play. I want to get rid of it sometime soon, but I don't want to ruin the save game, plus I need a suitable replacement for new guns. Not all of those guns are from BoE either. So I'm left wondering if I should tough it out, since it doesn't bother me too much, or find something better, and possibly risk botching the save game. I have noticed even Millenia's weapons have animation issues which would bother me much more than clipping that I can't even notice while playing.

There aren't really that many options for weapon packs either. As I said before, BoE was a go to since it added a suite filled with ladies for Duke, the bullet rain function, and a ton of weapons. About 70% of the BoE weapons are alright. The ones that aren't are pretty bad. One of the scoped guns called Dark Knight has a texturing issue since the mod author left his mod half finished, so I had to sell it. One of the Sawed off Shotguns doesn't look that great. I had to fix one of the Grenade Rifle's, but it works fine now. I am wondering which clipping issue you are referring to though.

Maybe I don't pay as much attention to the gun I'm holding while I am playing the game, but even when I look at the pics, I don't see any major issues. It is entirely possible that the Duke skin, which is much larger than the normal one, is slightly different so it causes minor issues.

Edit : Yeah i went back in and used both of those weapons. The clipping was much more noticeable when I examined them better. Pointing the weapons down at the ground revealed the issue. It's the Duke skin that does that. The normal body doesn't do it. No big deal I suppose, since Duke isn't going anywhere. I can always adjust the pics to remove clipping stuff, to enhance your viewing pleasure. :wink:

Edit 2: Hmmm...I went in and sold all of the gear I had to try out some of BoE's top of the line weapons. You have to buy them from a special store inside the suite or at Mojave Outpost. Safe to say, these are the best weapons the mod has to offer. A couple of FN Fal's, Sig SG 552, XM8, WA2000, DSR-1, HK G36C, Makarov, AK74, and a XM-110. Tons more too. Each of those has high quality textures. Seems the ones that are low grade are some of the replacers, yet the Unique replacers are top notch. I could simply go with Millenia's replacers to even the quality out while keeping the good ones from BoE...I need to figure out how to do that. Don't want any conflicts...

Shrapnel might work okay with it, if loaded after BoE...

Okay I removed the replacer version of BoE. This leaves me with vanilla weapons with new unique weapons and additional weapons available to buy. Basically I cut out all of the crappy textured weapons, and left in the good stuff. Now I can either go with Shrapnel or Millenia's re-textures for the vanilla weapons. I'm leaning towards Shrapnel since I haven't tried it out before.

Well, I installed Azhtek's weapon pack with CASE, in conjunction with Caliber x and BoE. Man it's like a dream come true. These new weapons are going to rock this next update hard. I can't believe the variety. It even added some high tech weapons that fit right into the Fallout universe, like laser shotguns, plasma rifles, ray guns...

Safe to say, I will have some mighty fine guns in this next update. Now if I can only get my Internet fixed, I can start uploading photos again. Holy shit Nexus is missing out. Luckily I was able to find it as a torrent. I do believe I have enough good guns to even keep Wintermind happy now. :)

I tested a ton of them and there wasn't any clipping to speak of. They were so damn good, it made me die a little inside, since I have been missing out for over two years now. Even the minor weapons are impressive. I didn't see a single one I didn't like out of over 30 that I tried. Now these aren't tactical either like BoE liked to throw in, so they fit the theme better as well. Man I can't wait to crank out some pics for these. My only hope is that EVE plays well with the energy weapons, so we can get some good disintegrations. Here's the list. A lot I already have in game, but they will look and feel different anyway, besides many of these are actually slightly better than BoE's anyway. I think I have about 7 M16 and M4 variants. I didn't want to use CASE really, but the drawbacks are well worth it...

That pistol you used is eating dukes thumb, or it blends really, really well. Personally I don't care for 'newer guns' sticking in my fallout. Give me some stuff that fit in into 197X. Lots of milsurp, ideally, soviet and NATO guns from the 60's and 70's, preferably beat to hell and back.

A lot of those guns are from the 70's. Turns out Duke's thumb looks like that on most guns. He has really fat hands compared to vanilla. His hand doesn't really go through it. It looks like he has short thumbs or something.

By chance, what guns would you like added to this? Specifically. I have some of those FN Fals you said you wanted. I aim to please. :D
 
It's just my own preference for guns added to games. Cold War battle rifles, milsurp (if it ain't C&R it ain't shit) that sorta thing. I don't haven any overt preferences in variety of any ne specific gun for the mst part.

Dragbody armor packs from VGUnderground. There's over 30 of them out now. I have them all in one merged esp. That's where all of these armors are coming from. No ghoul version sorry. That specific armor is from Call of Juarez I believe. You have to be a member at their site, make thirty posts, and then request permission to access their database after a week, all to download their content. It's worth it though. That's where I got Monster Mod Version 10 after it was removed from Nexus. They have lots of cool stuff.
