Emil clarificates

Hmmm...
Some good things and some bad things:

Good:
- There are "good" muties and ghouls.
- The AI will rest against walls, etc. to make for a more realistic atmosphere.
- Power armor reduces agility (Can be viewed as bad..)
- If released, editor will be free.
- Some enemies will run if outmatched.
- Enemies will pick up their fallen companions' weapons.
- No fast travel locations at the beginning of the game.
- 4 human races and 2 genders for customization.
- Beards are in.

Bad:
- Fast travel is in (No dotted lines)
- No random encounters when fast traveling.
- No child killing
- Some NPCs can only be knocked out, not killed.
- Wearing barter/mechanic clothes will increase your skill.
- Weight limit.
- You can aim at targets, making it easier to shoot things.
- No editor on CD
- Crouching is sneaking
- No weather effects
- Radar is not toggleable - only the HUD is
- No traits

Some of this was already known, but now we're sure about the traits. Bummer.

Its sounding more and more like a bad oblivion mod.

Whats funny is some of the features left out are things that were modded into oblivion a long time ago.

I'm not sure if this is already here in any thread, but related to Emil's last visit to the official Fallout 3 forum, we can find this list of skills at briosafreak Fallout 3 Blog:
Speech
Small guns
Big guns
Energy weapons
Melee combat
Unarmed
Medicine
Sneak
Lockpick
Explosives
Science
Repair
Barter
I count 13, is anything missing?

Edit: corrected from 14 to 13. I guess I counted something twice! Maybe I should had slept more last night...

I wonder if the robohorse is really just a play on Philip Dick's "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep" where many of our favorite household pets and farm animals are recreated as androids that look like household pets or farm animals. (Note, this could be a cheap escape for Bethesda... "Oh yeah... that's what we're doing.. paying homage to Blade Runner. Like the .223 pistol....).

Three Dog- I wonder if this is a reference to Three Dog Night. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Three_Dog_Night

A band of absolutely no relevance to the Fallout world (Or more evidence that Bethesda doesn't 'get it.')

You count wrong. It's 13. Nothing is missing.
Thanks, already corrected that :)

Stupid question: 13! Could this be on purpose, as a "in game" reference to Vault 13?
Yeah, it's on purpose. As "in game" calling you stupid by dumbing down the system.

The 1 shot = 1 AP question is leaving me hanging.
Mutated grizzly bears, heh.

Take a look at this screen. You see 83 AP. I would not bet, that you can fire 83 shots in one "pause-turn". ;)

Yeah, I guess your right :D

But I also think that's more for the future Fallout 3 fans rather than to the Fallout 1 and 2 fans.

And I'm a Fallout 2 fan, more than any other game I ever played, and I doubt that I will ever be a future Fallout 3 fan (I don't play a FPS since the old school Duke Nukem 3D.)

Aww, don't be like that. Far Cry is lots of fun.
I missed a lot of fun games for lack of a decent PC (i.e.: money to buy one). I really missed a lot of them, Far Cry included.

I was lucky to play Fallout 2 on a Cyrix 133MHz that could barely hold it together, and also on a Pentium III from a friend of mine, where I played Baldur's Gate.

Then I was lucky to play Freelancer on my AMD 1300 (I don't remember any other game I played there, besides Fallout 1 and 2).

Now that I have a PC that can probably handle Crysis, I really don't care much about FPS, even though they can be fun, I rather play Neverwinter Nights 2 and its Expansion(s) with everything setted to "High".

Well, my aversion to modern FPS has also something to do with my bad eyes-hands coordination, that doesn't help in very fast paced games (the only 2 FPS I ever beated were Duke Nukem 3D and The Spear of Destiny).

And that really helped me getting into Fallout, because there I don't need to be fast, I have all the time in the world to think before I do anything.
Well, at least I had, until Fallout 3 started to be shaped...

Why are weight limit and aiming bad? Also, crouching to sneak is better than walk+"sneak" sign=sneaking. I might have overlooked it, but where'd you read no weather effects? Not too important to me, I wouldn't expect a lot of rainstorms in a post-apocalyptic wasteland atmosphere, but I just can't recall seeing that anywhere.

Not sure about the weight limit, but uh, did you read about the combat system? When you aim (besides it reeking of "hey we played CoD4 and thought that the aiming mechanic was totally cool dood"), it negates most of the wobbly aiming penalty that results from having a low skill. I'm not sure how anyone could consider such a mechanic a good thing in an RPG (not that wobbly aiming is really a good mechanic in the first place, but still). So, if you have a low skill in small guns and are shooting up the super mutie in random dungeon #201, you can aim and shoot him dead on. The only result will be that your low skill will make the bullets do little to no damage. Somehow, getting better skills with your guns will give your bullets better penetration abilities.
Also, crouching to sneak is better than walk+"sneak" sign=sneaking.
No one said it had to emulate the walking + sneak tag from Fallouts 1/2. It's just an obvious carry-over from Oblivion to have crouch = sneak. I'll bet the animation is exactly the same too. Also, who exclusively crouches while sneaking? I've had many night-time forays to the refrigerator that required some stealth, and I don't ever recall crouching.

Weather effects != exclusively rainstorms (although acid rains would make perfect sense and be pretty cool). There's dust/wind storms, overcast vs. sunny... and, well, that's all I can think of actually.

Well, that sucks... :\ But if you don't have money for an average PC, you certainly don't have money for a console, right?

Besides.. I think in light of the 50's children's fascination with the Old West, a robotic horse would fit the 50's retro-future. I can see the ads now. "Safer than the real thing!" or some such.

um, at least the 360 is a lot cheaper than buying a PC that can handle the same games.

Irrelevant, as by the time you've bought five games, you've spent enough money to buy yourself a new PC rig, or at least a considerable upgrade.
