Emil Pagliarulo Appreciation Thread

I like how Emil listens to ideas from co-workers when writing dialogue.

This just makes me question why the fuck is he making RPGs.

Edit. Also is that why characters walk away when I talk to them?

If I was in a game made by Emi, I would try to kill myself, only to be knocked out for a couple of seconds.

He doesn't make RPGs, he just talks to the fans on behalf of the company.

EDIT: Then again nobody in Bethesda makes RPGs

Well, why is he talking on behalf of a "RPG" developer.

And I'm putting RPG in quotes because they stopped being the Role-Playing long ago.

He's also the Vice President of Bethesda Softworks, say what you will about BGS but BS is a good publisher so he must be doing something right.

Lets not forget Bethesda as publisher is nothing more than Zenimax.
And even if he does have a hand in deeciding what happens in games like Doom and Dishonored, they don't require many RPG elements like dialogue or letting the player make their own backstory.

We used to be respectable... where did we become perverts?
I started becoming more active on the forums.

Anyway, as to Emil, so he's the lead writer. And it also says he's "senior designer", what does that mean exactly?
Cause I'm thinking of the writing, he's had 4 years to write all of this shit and if it comes out this lack-luster(?) I gotta ask; What does he do all day? I mean, if I got 4 years to write a bunch of shit for an RPG I'd come up with 'way' more than he would and I'd return to all my work to make sure everything makes sense. Since Fallout turned out the way it did... Well... What does he do all day? What is this "senior designer" thing? Is that what takes away his time from writing? Cause maybe Bethesda's writing would improve if he actually 'worked' on the damn writing.

Not that I care, I ain't buying any more Bethesda games but for Bethesda's own sake they should either take his ass away from writing or they should enforce him to work on it and 'only' it.

Let's also not forget that instead of focusing on meaningful quests and actual choice and consequence, he probably spent upwards of a month writing himself into the game with terrible dialogue where you can buy a debit card from him. He then went on to make sure you had dialogue (unfunny dialogue for that matter) with every single shop keeper in the game about the card if you bought it.

In other words, he was too busy sucking himself off with how "funny" he is instead of focusing on developing a decent story.

Is Emil at least killable in the game?
It could give me some fun.
