they wouldn't dare. seriously, they don't have the talent for either of those titles.

This is different from buying Fallout how?

planescape? it's built completely on dialogue. what the shit would they be left with? i guarantee it's not going to be planescape.

Nameless One: “I’m looking for my past. Middle-aged guy. Have you seen it?"

Morte: Uh...

Nameless One: [Intelligence] "I see that you are a floating skull."

I honestly think Todd would approve of that.

christ.

you guys are probably right. if they so fucking shamelessly endorse and continue to put out shit like "Oh I get it, it's a videogame. Fun!" what would stop them from putting the ol' intelligence brackets over any game deeper than they're capable of.

Nameless One: "Um... has anyone seen a floating sarcastic middled-aged man around here?"

heh. this is kind of fun.

Ravel: "What can change the nature of a man?"

Nameless One: [Perception] So you say man's nature can be changed?

I bet the "technical issue" was that they already had 32 types of ammo, and would overflow a register on a PS3 or something if they went to 33.

Like anyone gives a crap about the PS3 version anyway.

haha two of my co-wokers have the ps3 version, today i showed them the enclave commander mod and lorded over them the cool things that pc's will always get and they won't ;)

Crni Vuk, I didn't mention anything about the abomination that is GFWL... though it is a hideous extension of the ever-wretched XBox 360. And if I had to go with one of the "services", I'd take Steam any day.

But yeah, of course they signed a contract with them... Microsoft is desperate to win over gamers and they have (or had) the money to do it. Granted, they're laying off staff and losing business, but they have high hopes for their underdeveloped machine.

And Bethsoft is grabbing at cash while they can. That's all I can really assume from the Fallout buy-out... taking something they know they can make money off of and putting little to no work into making. Bigger profit margins.

Well think about it that way ... Fallout after a short time in the hands of Bethesda and distributed by Microsoft.

You know, talking about that, I always thought that it was strange the Laser Rifle in any FO games never had a scope.
You sure about that? I always thought that assembly at the top was some sort of electronic scope. Well it's left to the imagination I suppose.

Maybe we should read the skills as:

Small guns: Some recoil
Big guns: Lots of recoil (please ignore flamer)
Energy Weapons: No recoil

For my take on Bethesda's Gauss Weaponry that uses Energy Cells as ammunition rather than 2mm EC rounds, I will just consider them particle / Energy Gauss Weapons.

These have existed before in other Science-Fiction games.

Take, for instance, the Gauss Pistol, Gauss Rifle and Heavy Gauss Cannon in the 2nd X-COM game Terror from the Deep:

Quoted from X-COM: TFTD's USOPaedia:

"The Gauss pistol uses accelerated particle technology, a new development in modern weaponry. It is fast, accurate and functions above and below water. Gauss technology is a development of the Plasma technologies learned from the previous war."

However, the Gauss Weaponry in that game consume specially constructed ammunition, presumably due to the energy requirements and anti-matter containment issues.

You nailed it man! I lol'ed, and then I hoped I didn't wake up my neighbours.

That's true, but Fallout's Gauss Rifle actually exists as a projected weapon, I think there are even some youtube videos with prototypes, although right now they're weaker than a 9mm. And that's ammateurs. The US military already has railguns, it would't surprise me if gauss rifles were the standard rifle in the US Army by 2050.

What part of 'alternate timeline' didn't you understand?

Uh, the rail gun is a naval weapon. The problem with hand-held gauss rifles is the same as hand-held lasers. Power consumption is ridiculous. I would say we will get time sometime after fusion generators...

Also, what's the ADVANTAGE of a infantry gauss rifle? You are still shooting squishys. They still fall over if you hit them with a 5.56mm round or two - let alone a rifle grenade. You don't get bonus points in war for dramatic death graphics.

I guess there would be some practical use for a vehicle or strongpoint mounted gauss sniper rifle which could hit anything on the horizon.

I think Gauss Rifles were probrably made for use against enemies in Power Armor. I remember that Fallout Tactics had a unique Gauss Minigun of chinese design that was devastating against Power Armor. The chinese knew the art of dakka, it seems.
