Extremly hesitant on beths next game

First time out of the vault
Or just not touching it with a 30' pole. I know many people here weren't for Bethesdas take on fallout in the first place but I enjoyed it especially since I don't get into isometric top down gameplay much, I have played them it's just very few give me enough enjoyment to stick through that like wasteland 2 I've been dumping a ton of hrs. into it. I digress what I mean is who has enjoyed the previous Bethesda games but after how they butchered fallout 4 are iffy on them. I just don't expect they will change because of how much fallout sold. They seem to be on the path of ea and Ubisoft.

We'll see. Their next Elder Scrolls game might be fine; they're the ones who created it, let them do whatever. It's Fallout that I'm worried most about.

Well at the rate Bethesda are going they'll likely have a chart with even less skills than Skyrim's(if that's possible) with cardboard cutout NPCs with two dialogue choices to tell someone you'll kiss their ass or to take their offer and cram it up their ass. Oh and a question like
-"I want you to head to X."
-"So where do I have to head to?"
No jumping unless you get a perk that lets you jump and run. Well that's my predictions anyways.

Dragonborn 2, you have to help us!

Yes! - Kill Dragon
No! - Kill Dragon later (so yes)
Sarcastic - Kill Dragon

Yeah those are points I agree with the most worrisome for me is if they decide they like the dialogue wheel because that's just bad, wouldn't have been bad if the game series started with the wheel. They shouldn't have pulled that outta no where, although from a money scheming point it makes sense since it's less money they have to spend on voice acting.

Ironically, for Elder Scrolls they make a well-written, well-designed game without the narrative input of Emil Pagliarulo, along with engaging gameplay, winning Game of the Year 2016, while continuing to throw Fallout down the "repetitive loot shooter" line, ALL just for the sake of pissing NMA off.

:smug:

Just sarcasm, of course. While they're probably not going to do as well as described above, I don't actually think they'll end up making a very bad game, but I wouldn't hold my breath on them making a next-gen successor to Morrowind. Still, if it appeals to everyone like they always aim it to, it's at least a 5/10 for me.

IMHO Fallout was merely a direct extension of their design choices with Skyrim. Skyrim for me was a repetitive list of dungeon crawl quests and linear story that had one decision (Imperial vs. Stormcloaks) and zero dialogue options. And this wonky game engine makes characters look so robotic that whenever they try to act dramatic (like the first time you fight a dragon) it just looks awkward. The dialogue wheel wasn't there, but those dialogue options were not options at all. In addition, a lot of quests were shallow and they just make you some God-King leader after a few quests like with the Winterhold Mages Guild.

So sadly I would be worried about both Elder Scrolls and Fallout, but I've already accepted they're probably going to be shallow irrelevant games. That said, they must have SOME people that know how to make somewhat deep games that resemble RPGs and if they look at things like Metacritic User Score and read some of those reviews maybe they will decide to go a different route. But nothing short of a total 180 degree turn is going to bring their games back to RPG status.

As it stands right now it looks like Elder Scrolls VI is going to play like an offline MMO so it might as well be titled Elder Scrolls Offline.

We have to wait and see I guess. You know what they say, the bigger they are the harder they fall. Bethesda wouldn't be the first nor the last studio that was closed because of one game that sold very bad despite of previous success. Such things seem to happen rather fast in AAA gaming. Or at least reform it under new managament.

Not, that I am saying this is very likely, just a possibility. No one can say what might happen in 5 or 10 years. And there are examples where some publishers and developers have really exhausted the patience of their playerbase, see Dragon Age 2, Mass Effect 3 or Aliens Colonial Marines and the last offender batman arkham knight. Interplay was also pretty big, but look at them now.

I think that it's possible they could break sales records again with their next game who knows. I just wish people would stand up to the mediocity that Bethesda keeps dishing out. I know their fans will try pointing out that art and quality is subjective but then I think back to Crni Vuk's picture of the good quality horse and the poorly drawn one(sorry if that was your drawing). I then laugh to myself wanting to call them out on their bullshit for thinking that, I'm not sure how one can deny Fallout 1 and 2's superior quality to Fallout 3 and 4 even if Fallout 2 had issues of its own.

They can make a mediocre game and still break sales record. Just look at Fallout 4.

How should I put this... Let's see... I actually found Baldur's Gate 2 too complex to enjoy. Yep, you heard me right. It was fun at first, but when I realised how difficult building the character as I go on was going to be, plus the semi-real time isometric combat, I just went nope. And while I tried Pillars of Eternity's writing fantastic for the few moments I was in it, there was just too many layers and too little things that drew me in.

In in the same way, philosophical themes in a fictional or historical novels I can handle, but a book designed to be deep and philosophical would just be too much for me.

While Fallout 1 and 2 is within bounds of playable parameters for me, I can see how the majority would find it not very appealing. Sometimes there needs to be a better balance in things like this. Either way, even back in Obsidian's hand and in isometric gameplay, Fallout would still need to be dumbed down compared to the first two, because otherwise no way is it going to make enough sales for it to have more sequels.

In short, simple games with quality will always surpass complex games with quality in the mind of the average gamer. Keep in mind I myself am somewhat average, and am a lot more "casual" than most people here.

They'll advertise a lot, more live actors, maybe Tom Cruise as an altmer or something
More fan-service also, I say it's time for Elder Scrolls to go boobs, or at least up the cheesy embarassmentness of their romancing
More all-in-one also, more sims, more mini-games, like tetris or something
They allready stole the drab and colorless palette from GoT, it worked wonders, now maybe they can steal the golden-sunset thing from Witcher (as well as the balls to show boobs, and card-collecting mini games!)

Pack it up and call it a day, we have the design plan for TES VI!

TES VI: Argonians stole my baby, coming 2017.

Grandmother I would say.

Can't do the same stuff over and over again.

Who turns out to be your daughter, who grew up and travelled back in time using magic before getting kidnapped. At the end, she is the real villain, and you have to side with the Thieves' Guild, the Dark Brotherhood, the Fighters' Guild, or her side for the ending fight which involves a dragon or some other contrived large-sized hostile creature.

Can do same stuff over and over again.

You forgot the addition of a dog companion and an English butler.

If they go this route of trying to make characters with backstories, voice acting, and dialogue wheel with Elder Scrolls VI people are probably going to compare it to Witcher 3 and realize how dumb and shallow Elder Scrolls has become and how robotic the characters look with that game engine.

After FO4, I fully expect the next Elderscrolls to remove even more RPG aspects, while their newly formed Montreal studio works on another FO game. Interestingly enough those leaked documents from earlier this year mention Behavior Interactive...funny how the head of the new studio worked at Behavior Interactive.

Nice HD boobs or gtfo. It will be shallow with hack and slash gameplay, spam the left mouse button to attempt to chop your enemy into choice cuts while you quaff 4 potions after the bullet sponges take your health down to 2%.
