Fallout 1 or Fallout New Vegas?

I get why people do place the blame like they do, I just can't do that or agree with it. It's too many parts that can vary from situation to situation to feel like a consistent way to point out what's wrong with something.

Cain's story about the simple line of code comes to mind. He's "in charge" but couldn't even have someone do that.

Any which way, it's all lightning in a bottle

You put your name in the credits as someone that was a lead on something, you have to be ready to take the brunt of the criticism regardless if you did it alone or with a million people. I think it's absolutely silly to try to take the blame off of project leads and lead designers just because "something is made by multiple people".

Should people stop blaming directors for a movie sucking too now? The recent Borderlands movie sucked and people are rightfully putting the blame on Eli Roth for it sucking because he was the director.

Yes, games are done by multiple people, but there are still a few individual people that steer the ship and call the shots. Even if you are the one responsible for a part of the game, the one (or multiple people) leading the project will have a say if it goes or not or if any changes need to be made.
It's probably more Todd Howard than Emil.

"All decisions run through Todd. He would hate, hate, hate me for saying that because he doesn’t believe it’s true. But unfortunately, it is true. If you want to have anything different other than the Bethesda usual, or something else you want to propose, you somehow have to get the idea in front of him."
I think stuff like the Settlement System in Fallout 4, which were meant to be minor side content, end up catching Todd Howard's eye and he changes the game radically to suit his whims.

Both are responsible for the bad design choices in the last handful of Bethesda games, i don't care who's calling what.

Fallout 1.

FNV doesn't even exist without it. Like seriously, what are we even talking about here.

The first 5 minutes of gameplay alone leaves FNV completely dusted. Leaving the vault, into an unknown post-apocalyptic wasteland, which will end up becoming the fervent breading ground of 10's of millions of adventures/fantasies/experiences, and a multi billion dollar media 'property', compared to ...whatever the the beginning of FNV is. Iconic vs. Not Iconic.

Fallout 1 spawned a universe. FNV just detailed it a bit.

(And I frickin' loved FNV)

You're not wrong, Emil getting upset about the criticism was silly. I do agree if you're going to be in leadership positions you have to be willing to be the person that people will blame or send criticism towards for the outcome. I wasn't only talking about blaming or taking blame off, but also the praise that's on the other end. I guess I was preparing for the X person sucks and Y person rules discussion to happen and devolve into fantasies that canning X or hiring Y would magically make it all better.

Exactly my thoughts

Benny tries to get you to leave the casino floor and go to a room to "talk" which is a trap. If you saw it coming, that's fine, but he does lie to you in an attempt to fool you.
It was obviously a trap, if thats his best attempt at making well done liars, well, can't say im surprised.

In fallout 2, after proving your worth and doing jobs to a shady leader for a gang of bad doers, the guy treat you as a good tool for the right job and offer to give you a holodisk containing the location of V13.

Theres no reason to think he is lying, you proved your value, worked your way and paid for the holodisk

What you get is the location of a fake Vault, made out of junk to fool morons into spending money

Once you return to the NCR and tries to talk to the guy (Mark), hes gone.

Earlier in the game you can take a quest to save a city (modoc) in exchange for information, the mayor which said he knew about the G.E.C.K can be persuaded to seal a promise of telling you that, to the point of your char being able to make him cut his pink finger off so he can show how dead serious he was in said subject.

After you solve the entire issue he reveal he was just desperate for help and lied to you about knowing anything about the G.E.C.K

I need to mention the Wright son's murderer quest in which everyone keep pointing out to another suspect, so lies were the main point of the entire conflict?

And yes, i know which parts gonzales is credited for, i just don't know why anyone would think Benny, Caesar or Vulpes are even remotely interesting
