Collecting Salvatore's tribute from Renesco through a 'discount' doesn't seem to work. While making my 'purchases', everything I try to barter from him still has a price.

In other bugs, here's a fun experience: I saved during combat in my fourth encounter with Kaga, since I was slightly skeptical of my chances of withstanding minigun fire. I loaded that save and inflicted enough damage in once round to end the combat. When the combat ended, Kaga and my character had the dialogue that is supposed to play at the beginning of the encounter, and Kaga said his farewell right on top of that. Then the game crashed.

I did some experimenting on that save. If I manage to drag on the combat, Kaga and my character give their lines of floating text once per turn. Once they finished their initial exchange like this, I could chase Kaga away and get on with the game without it crashing.

My 5th Kaga encounter go off without problem.

We got 1 Combat armor mk2, 1 bridge keeper robe, 3 metal mk2 (Marcus, off course, is unarmored). Kaga is in Advanced power armor, with Gattling Lazer.

I was trembling with fear and greed. Greed is because I lust after that APA we shall surely loot. Fear... you know

It went off quite well. Gattling didnt do much damage that a quick pocket couldnt fix. Once I had to use a Super Stimpack on Marcus, was all.

That Kaga got knocked down because of my purposeful groin shot. Once down, I loot all his weapon, leave the ammo behind. Then just killed him.

The greatest pity is that we couldnt take the APA from his cold dead, bullet-ridden body. Oh well, money, minigun, gatling lazer, and various other loots satisfied my greed somewhat.

EDIT: damn! the bug with pistol rear its ugly head. This time when I duel with Lo Pan, as usual the bastard draw his .233 out after being beaten within an inch of his life... Crash!

Test something for me. Go to your Fallout2\data\sound\SFX folder (if it exists) and look for two files. The files are: "WAE1XXX1.ACM" and "WAE1XXX2.ACM" If they are there, delete them. Let me know what happens.

You guys really seem to like to save during the kaga fights. Saving in combat is a no-no.

As I remember in old F2 1.02 days, there wasn't any troubles by saving during combat. At least it didn't occured to me - luck? so in my opinion, there shoudn't be any problems by saving in combat.

Maybe things have changed with killap work, which is great BTW - maybe technical causes?

Odd thing (bug?). Being in Slaver Camp I killed all slavers and had keyring but I couldn't open slaves right of slavers building. I used keyron fence door but it said just I locked/unlocked it but no way that fence door could be open to free slaves...

oh and when I'm in Primitive Village I cannot get any mission, just spears & knives, reputation:neutral - I think it should be accpeted for rescuing sulik's sister, true ?

This happened to me too. After trying to open the chain-link gate maybe six times, I did the next logical thing, grabbed a stick of dynamite and attempted to blow the gate off of its hinges. Instead, the woman nearest it exploded in a glorious opera of bloody residue and the door remained in place, however, I could open it after the apparent "obstacle" was out of the way.

No, saving in combat was always a bad idea. There were probably situations where it would be okay, but generally scripts would break when you do this. The most common thing would be that the NPC would no longer be angry at you. The reason you are noticing more breakage with my expansion is that I added many scripted sequences which generally break when one chooses to save/reload in the middle of it. If you want examples of bad things occurring when saving in combat, just recall the New Reno boxing fights and San Fran fights. These broke horribly when one saved and reloaded during them. I did fix this problem with my patch, but I am sure there are still ways of breaking things.

having issues when traveling across the wastes, cannot go far without an encounter, however encounters are nothing but open ground(no NPCs other than my party, no enemies, nothing), started a new game still same problem, uninstalled everything then did fresh reinstall, started new game still having problem. any advice?

So, you're saying *all* you are getting is blank (empty) encounters?

Mess with the Enclave on the Gecko computer and feel the wrath of the verti assault encounter

I just happened to read this a minute ago and remembered the prank I played on the guy...

My question regarding the issue will follow at the end of my post ^^

Here the situation again:

the guy you anger is trying to localize your position and you have the possibility of telling him, you are at the 'end of the other corridor and you dont see me you idiot'... or something like that(translated from the german version)

if you now consider the terminal info written on the computer screen from earlier:
'...offline.... whateverA offline.... whateverB offline...whateverC offline... Enclave Terminal xyz ONLINE... Enclave Research terminal blocked by firewall...

I think you get the idea...

so now to my question: if you tell the sucker you are down at the corridor terminal and terminate the connection after that, will this have impact later in the game like some poor innocent sucker having been shot.
I was just curious if the 'wrath of the verti assault team'-change was limited on attacking you or to what degree the mod had new content to see.
I think it would be a great easter egg to exchange one of the computer terminals in the Enclave to a smashed and blown up terminal in case the player meddled around earlier =)

Sorry for my bad english, but I hope I could make clear what I was wanting to ask ^^

regards, Skel

Is it just me or both lockpick and explosives don't open the locked doors on the surface in EPA? Even if I use the lockpick kit MK2 and have 300 skill - there is just no attempt to open the doors :|

Correct. There is another way to get in.

I hear and understand. Now I know how to worm myself out of that situation anyway. Any comment about the issue with Renesco?

Coolies.

Say, I noticed both the passkey found on Klamath's enclave trooper corpse and the one given to you by Harold don't work in Gecko's power plant. You still have to... obtain the one in the locker to open the yellow security door.

Might it have something to do with the fact I have the UK version?

It is simple. There is no issue, a discount doesn't mean you get items for free.
No, that is exactly what is supposed to happen. You get a mission to collect protection money from Renesco. He says he doesn't have the cash, so you settle the issue by him giving you merchandise for zero price. The 'discount' is an euphenism here.

I came up with another issue as well. I encountered the Cafe of Broken Dreams, but it didn't leave a location marker on the map.

Code:
• Discount modifier is no longer incorrectly applied with Renesco which allowed you to get all of his goods for $0
Taken from "unofficial patch corrections.txt", yes the one you can find in your very own fallout 2 folder.

All right, my mistake. I apologize for the inconvenience.

Of course it is hard to tell whether some things are related to the restoration pack or the patch. Here's another one: I fought in the ring in San Fransisco, and got several critical hits which according to the text are instant kills, but my opponent remained alive. This makes sense in a way due to the statement that these fights are not supposed to be to the death.

edit: Addendum to the Cafe of Broken Dreams bug: I encountered it a few squares west of NCR, but the location actually was marked on the map, a couple of squares north of the Primitive Tribe. Pretty much the opposite sides of the map. I have had marker-leaving special encounters before and after this one, and they have behaved normally.

regarding the crashes/application error when entering the Vertibird crash site in Klamath.

The main menu shows the usual buttons:
Intro, new game, load game, options, credits, end game.
Copyright notices,
FALLOUT II 1.02.23 EXP 1.1 <-I guess this is what you wanted to know?

Im running the game on Win2k, installed german version 1.0, official patch 1.2, Restoration Mod 1.0, updated to 1.1 later and exchanged the files you provided on your FTP.
regards, Skel

Hmm. Ok, well the menu looks right. The thing is you are experiencing a crash bug that was only present in my patch afaik. Can you send me a save game right before you enter the Trapper Town? Use the address found in the readme inside the Fallout folder.

I sent you the file yesterday, I hope you received it. Were you able to find out anything yet?
