@ killap

and other persons,too.

just encountered next bug.

I'm at Vault 15, sub-level 2. Shooting around with the "Jack Hammer" and missed my target --> crash and is say application error and it displays some hex numbers

Do someone know how to fix?

shit I'm trapped!

I can not get out of Vault 15 neither via the elevator nor via the ladder which is there too.

It's always the same: during the loading of the new levelpart the game locks up.

I did the following down in Vault 15.

Repaired the generator at sublevel 2.

Than went down to sublevel 3. Shout the Forcefields. Searched the archives for vaul 13. Went to the locker an took computer parts out.

Went to the leader killed him and his men. Went to 3. computer and download NCR Spy Disc. Went into the inventar used the Spy Disc. But didn't read it in the payboy.

Moved up to sublevel 2 killed there every guard. Moved up to sublevel 1 killed all gaurds there too. And now wanted to leave the vault via elveator or ladder but --> crash.

So I'm fucking trapped. Problem I've no other savegame where to restart the mission or so.

Please help. I don't like to start all over again.

So did anyone manage to plant the seeds from EPA in Arroyo? I too (as one guy informed before me) get only a crash when I try to plant them.
And it was one hell of an adventure - first you can't plant them, before you plant the abnormal ones in the EPA garden. Also you CAN plant the abnormal ones in Arroyo at any time you want, which is very annoying because if you have them in your inventory and try to plant the normal seeds, the abnormal seeds get used automatically instead of the normal ones (so in the end you have to drop 'em if you want normal results). And after all of that - voila - crash. :crazy:

Nope. At least in january release they caused a crash. Either of the february releases might have fixed it however.

I planted the seeds but nothing seemed to grow up, at least not as fast as from the one seed I planted in EPA.

Regarding skill dex bug - yes it is a general bug that been tagging along, but there was discussion on it in one of RP threads so I decided to post it here. Also Br4zil - I meant 23 entries as sum of number of cities and holodisks, not just holdisks (I don't think that there even are 23 holodisks in game)

I'm curious: I've selected the Gain Intelligence/Endurance perks, but they don't seem to help my stats in all the ways they should, or at least, that I think they should, ie:

Gain Intelligence brought me from 8 to 9, but I still receive only 16 skill points per level...

With Endurance I thought my healing rate should have gone up to 4 when my end moved from 9 to 10, but that hasn't happened either, what is the verdict, is that just how the perk works, or should it work a little better?

It should work better, you're right. That's something killap can deal better with.

Hi!
Are you having crash problems with EPA? Help me, to help you!
Go to the fallout2.cfg, and find this code:
Code:
[system]
art_cache_size=8
Its on the bottom of the file. Next, change it to:
Code:
art_cache_size=261
and report back here if you are still having problems. Sadly, i cannot reproduce the crashes occuring with Klamath. I do not guarantee that this will work, i am only presenting a possible solution.

When installing from an old 1.00 US CD, I have
Code:
art_cache_size=1048
as default in my fallout2.cfg. I'm not 100% certain, but I don't think the version installed from my copy of the Fallout 1+2+Tactics DVD has such a high value. Perhaps the DVD version (and possibly other versions prone to EPA crashes) simply makes a cache which is too small for something in EPA, causing an overflow or something similar, thereby crashing the game? It already defines an incorrect path to the music files by default ("/sound/music" instead of "/data/sound/music/"), so it could simply be a similar error.

I'm gonna have to uninstall the game and check the DVD install.

Interesting find on the art_cache_size value everyone. It would make sense for this to be the problem since there are *tons* of new art files ranging from floor tiles to new scenery objects. I have a feeling it is all the new floor tiles that causes the problem. Does everyone else with an EPA crash notice good things occurring when increasing the value of art_cache_size in the fallout2.cfg file found inside the main fallout2 directory?

Update on project status:

I have been busy with classes and haven't done any Fallout work. In the small amounts of free time I do have I spend it playing Gothic 3. So, one could say I am on a Fallout hiatus at the moment. In addition, I will be out of town from March 5th - 15th during my university's spring break so no Fallout work will be occurring during this time either. The good news though is that 1.2 should hit the streets at the end of March. I still have some bugs left to squash as well as waiting to receive (no rush whatsoever to those working on this) translated text files for French/German. So, not only will 1.2 essentially be bug free but it will be multilingual. Save games should be compatible with the new release and starting over isn't needed. There might be some quests that will not work properly if you are in the middle of them, so loading a save before receiving the quest will fix this.

And if I haven't gotten to everyone who messaged me personally, don't worry I haven't been ignoring you. I'll get to you. :D

I can now confirm that the fallout2.cfg included with my DVD version contains
Code:
art_cache_size=8
.

I wouldn't be surprised if this is all that needs to be altered. I'm gonna install the restoration mod, change the value of art_cache_size and try out EPA right away.

Well, don't sweat, as i've already done the work in checking numerous FO2 releases, including DVD collection releases and such. Thats how file after file i arrived at the .cfg.

The question is, will other "unexpected" errors get fixed by this.

Nice. Great work, gracul :D
Changing the art_cache_size to 256 instead of 8 allowed me to reach the EPA sublevels without a problem, using a savegame that always crashed before on my laptop. I tested 1048 first (since the CD install set that value on my desktop pc), but it caused the game to crash during the intro due to lack of virtual memory :P

Edit: Killap, perhaps you could bundle a standard fallout2.cfg file with the mod? That should prevent the EPA problems for those who install with the DVD version or other strange versions. :)

Bug Found

First off, great work. I haven't played fallout in a while, but this is definitely making it worth it.

Unfortunately, I've found a bug that's rather annoying. After defeating the masticator, I get the 2500 exp, but I do not become a prize fighter. I suspect that the error has something to do with the scripting, since the camera jerks around right after the fight, but no dialog with Stuart Little is actually initiated. Furthermore, I can't talk to him at all. Frustrating!

PS - I did not save/load during combat.

Please, please help me. 'cause I don't knoe what to do.

@killap
bugs:
1, I broke the raiders' strength by talking to shadow-who-walks, then wipe them out, but now I can't tell the first citizen about it, can't get the "deliver holodisk to Westin" quest.
2, There are double karls, both in Modoc; double sulik's sisters, one in Slaver Camp and the other in Primitive Tribe.
3, The New Reno Arms has almost nothing in its special stock. BTW, after I completed the Orphanage quest, Flick has nothing to sell, poor guy. But I think he should have something remain at least.

I'll send you my save if you want.

hi,
don't know if this has been posted already but there is still ab bug with the well by the primitive tribe. if you pick up the bucket BEFORE using the rope on the well and afterwards speaking with the guy next to the well, the quest is impossible to complete. There will be no 'use on" function available for the bucket.

besides that, i love the add-on. thank you very much.

There's a way around that.. instead of doing the 'use on' option, you can hold down the left mouse button over the well, click on your pack, and select the bucket from your inventory. This worked for me.

Elevator seems to work... tried it some times... so this may really be the cause.

/edit

set art_cache from 8 to 256
