Ads on F2RP Tech Info wiki

A bulletin from the Marginally Interesting Info Department: I've just received a message from Wikipedia regarding upcoming changes. Among other things, they plan to plant ads on all main wiki pages. It was bound to happen sooner or later, I guess.
 
ok. mayyyyybe i'm just fuckin' nuts here...but after installing this new version...i have more "was hit for no damage" or -1 damage hits than i've seen in 10 years combined playing this game.

i am currently watching as Lara's vs. Tyler's gang do "no damage" or (-1) to each other over and over and over and over.

is there an explanation or more importantly a fix for this?

Thanks, by comparing what was different between Follout 1.02d and the RP, and then moving files around a bit.

Check to see in the ddraw.ini file if "DamageFormula=2", if you don't have the vary latest version of RP then this might be it. There was a bug in the Tweak mod.

However, even with the bug neither of my mods woulds allow for a negative value to display. So "-1" seems extremely odd.

The no damage with Tyler and Lara is probably the result of metal armor and the ammo you are using. I suggest either switching ammo types or disabling the ammo mod in the ddraw.ini file.

I appreciate the offer. Checking for grammar/weird spellings is surely something that will be needed.

Alright, I had some time to sit down and trouble shoot the problem and I'm pretty sure I found it.

Shop keepers HATE lit flares. If a lit flare is part of the deal you're offering, they'll always say that it's not enough, no matter what.

See I had a bunch of lit flares that Sulik stupidly lit and threw in combat, so I wanted to offload them. It didn't take me very long of messing around before I realized they were the problem.

Is this a bug in vanilla FO2? Can anyone else confirm this?

Alright, I've just done some more testing, and not only is this a bug in vanilla Fallout 2, but also in Fallout 1. Interesting.

alsoplustoo: i did not mean -1...*ahem* i meant 1 damage. i guess i was thinking it subtracted one health point when i wrote that.

i haven't been to EPA yet,but i'm sure it'll be awesome

i did face one problem though
in new reno,i became a made man for the wright family and i'm supposed to get "special stock" at the new reno arms
but when i ask for the special stock the dude has no items on his side

did i do something wrong or is it a genuine bug?

other than that the game has been awesome
 
NPCs not leveling properly

I was going to post this in the Gameplay & Tech forum, but since I have the latest F2RP v1.2 installed I guess this should go here.

I have Sulik in my party. He leveled up. His HP was 93/93. Then shortly later I noticed his HP became 93/84. I don't remember this ever being a problem in the vanilla game, party members leveling down?

I save and load during combat all the time and have never gotten issues of any kind, aside from this one, I can swear by that. I replay Fallout 2 every couple of years. Does this just apply to encounters inserted by mods?
 
A possible bug in the Abbey: when I look (binoculars) at the bulletin board outside the Abbey's main entrance, it says that it has notices about employment; but when I use it nothing happens.

Possible bug: even though I finished the "Chad skimming" quest in Broken Hills, he still came along on the caravan to NCR :?
He does not react to any attempts at talking to him, not even a piece of floating text, but he did take part in fighting off the radscorpions who ambushed us.
 
I didn't want to clutter up the RP thread with something I wasn't certain was an RP issue. I even faintly remember something like this happening in the vanilla game some time ago, but I'm just not sure.
 
The new appearance mod seems to alter Sulik's behavior. Before, when we entered combat, he would pull out his sledgehammer, and start swinging away, but now I have to go into combat control and tell him to equip it, or he'll insist on going hand to hand.

I'm not sure this can be considered a bug since if i was a shopkeeper i wouldn't want to buy a burning stick of white phosphorus either. I wonder if they would do the same thing with an armed bomb?
