FYI guys I am currently playing the Eng translation of the Stalker mod (Oblivion Lost) :) It will be released in a couple of days, and should help maintain sanity until the RP is released.

Do you have a link?

Sigh...when will this nightmare end? Killnap, please hurry and release the RP so I can take refuge from this dude's rantings. Its delay is the only reason I am allowing myself to be subjected to his/her/its constant barrage of stupidity by visiting this thread.

1. The smell, could make a drop in charisma. Though keep in mind, that in postwar hygiene isn't the priority, especially in Den, Redding and other not-very-civilized places. Survival is the most important.
2. This is Fallout, not The Sims ;). It is RPG after all, not a simulation.

I wonder how many people would prefer a certain release after 30 days rather than this situation.

And, judging from Killap's latest posts, I bet that if he gave some deadline, he would say "about tuesday to thursday, and it will be a certain release until the end of the week".

Yeah, it's possible to make a mod that adds food, water, sleeping, showering, and some similar features. I think hygiene does matter in post-apocalyptic world. And if most of the people are dirty, then being clean would be an advantage (+Charisma). Travelling between locations takes usually weeks, so the PC will be usually dirty.

Surely this is the simms?

I don't mind the idea of food / water as long as it was handled well. Just having to stock up on food and water at the beginning of the game and then taking it periodically would be boring. But...

Each "diner" only serving a finite number of food items per day would be a start. Couple this with food kept in your backpack for too long going bad / stale would be interesting. Throw in the possibilities of random occurences like food poisoning and the food / water system idea could be an interesting add on.

I have to say that I'm not a huge fan of the idea of introducing a food/water system. While it would add to realism, I'm not sure it would add much to the game except an annoyance.

The real problem to me, though, is that the universe of Fallout2 to me is not one of reliance on water. Certainly, there were the Water Merchants in FO1, but where are they (or their analog) in FO2? If water is truly to be as important in the game as it probably would be in real life, every town would have to be built on or near a water source. As far as I can recall, the only location with an actual reservoir is the Slag's. Most other places with wells don't produce water, only water-free tunnels filled with death and destruction. Where are the people dying of starvation and thirst? If the need and importance of water pervaded the rest of the game, then it would be a much easier thing for me to accept.

However, I am willing to have an open mind. As Chris Parks says, it's all in the implementation. Some perks could be devoted to minimizing the reliance on food/water (I got 3 levels in Camel, baby!) , you could harvest cactus, and there could be oases found as random encounters. Maybe you could have a "gas tank" similar to the car's gas tank that you would occasionally have to fill up, etc. Power armor probably has a body-fluid to water recycler. There would also be water collection farms, etc. And you could be a guard on a water caravan ("all the water you need for free!").

To sum up, I don't want to play a game with a jury-rigged water and food system without some (perhaps a lot of) systemic modifications.

Yeah, I know this is not the Sims, but realism is always good - no game is "too realistic".

Though to me, gameplay is like 100 times more important than realism and I personally won't like any change that makes worse gameplay and better realism.

And the food/water/etc. idea is for a separate mod. I won't like it, but some people will. And I agree, if it's implemented well, even I could like it.

By the way let's stop posting off topic. Everyone keeps checking this thread for updates on the RP and not for discussions.

Yes, there is a thread for discussing suggestions, etc here. This thread is for bugs and information regarding RP releases.

@Killap

At least give us some hint what will be implemented in your new release. You don't need to post changelog (I guess it isn't even done yet) but just one or two interesting things that you have put in. Just to keep us entertained so we don't lose our mind. I think that would help boost everybody's patience.

Yet again THANK YOU for all your contribution to Fallout community you make such a great game so much better and it is not an easy task.

Ne brini se rodjo :). Everyone here is expecting the new release to come out and no one knows when will it happen, I think not Killap himself. Just relax, sit back and enjoy the insanity.

Bigger? Perhaps you are missing the word "overhaul" used several times there. The changes in this release are massive.

I am actually kind of glad it didn't come out last week, I would've failed my midterms for sure, now I have a fighting chance. :P

Thanks for making this awesome mod Killap, it makes F2 so (, so, so, so) much better.
