Best mod (patch) ever!!

Hello everyone,

I have recently started replaying fallout 2 in anticipation of fallout 3 coming out (Finally! it's only been about 10 years). Anyways I came here to download the 1.2 patch and I noticed this mod made by Killap.

I must say this is some of the best and most deticated modding work I have personally ever seen.

I also have one question I noticed with your patch(es) that sometimes critical head or eye shots kill instanteously, even if they do no damage. Now I somewhat remember playing fallout 2 when it came out and I don't ever remember this being able to happen. Is this something new that you added in or has it always been a part of the game and I just never experienced it before?

I did read them Chucky, but I guess I just wasn't understanding. I still can't believe I never had it happen to me before now. I've played this game a bunch of times and even used the trainer to max out my stats a couple of times and I've never had it happen until I installed Killap's mod.

Oh well I guess I've just been missing out. Thanks for the help anyways.

btw, in case you were wondering I was running Fallout 2 with Killaps newest restoration patch (minus glovez AP mod).

I've gotten many 0 damage critical kills before in the original game. I don't think I ever got it during a quest kill though. Seems odd it doesn't register since the critter is indeed dead. I don't think anything can really be done about this since this is all hardcoded.

If you are getting too many 0 damage hits, then you might want to reconsider what ammo you are using or disable the ap ammo mod in the ddraw.ini file.

Still, 0 damage critical kills did happen in vanilla Fallout 2.

Fair enough, I thought I'd mention it though.

I'm currently using just your latest RP with all the features. I'm not sure what ammo version this makes it.

I am finding the pipe rifle and an early pistol (the same pistol that is given at the start of FO1) are basically rubbish now, and that the first gun I have that does any real damage is the Desert Eagle. Could be that I'm not using the correct bullets mind. I didn't know if the lack of damage being dealt was due to the Finesse trait. Its the first time I've used it.

Thanks for replying so fast :)

I recently downloaded the restoration pack 1.2 and have a problem with the kaga encounters.

after taking one hit, he ends combat, says his deal, and runs off. but, i continue to get this first encounter over and over-several times between arroyo and klamath. i haven't been following the entire topic, and would like to know if there is a solution to this.

That would mean the variable isn't being set. Doesn't make sense. Did you grab the fixes from the first page? Are you using an old save?

interesting, I started a game, ran straight to San Fran, got the power armor and vertiplans in navarro. I got my UA high enough and challenged Lo Pan, this time it worked.

I am going to try playing and seeing if I can figure out what flag causes it to stop.

I don't know if this is a bug or not either, or if someone else already mentioned it.

When you access the vault 13 computer and it has a history of some of the vaults, it list 6-7 vaults. All the vaults in the list have a history except 106... I was just wondering if someone missed putting in a history for it?

@sarcastic wolf

Assuming you are not running Windows Vista:

Go to your Fallout2/data/SAVEGAME directory
rar/zip the folder corresponding to your save game slot.
e-mail this file to the address found in the readme of the RP (or you can upload this file to some free hosting service)

@Chesty La'Rou
Ah, good catch. I probably planned to include a history file on that one but decided not to in the end. There are a ton of vault mentioned in the Fallout Bible and I only chose to mention some of them. I shall fix that for 1.3.

@clones
Also, did you use the installer and choose the Polish language or did you install the separate Polish language files found at NMA?

i found the file, and tried to email you, please let me know if you got it.
I got it. I ran the save, encountered kaga, hit him twice, he ran away and I made it to Klamath without another encounter. Everything seems to be working.
