i tried the file again, and i still get multiple first encounters.
Something is not right with your files then. Perhaps uninstall the game (make sure everything is removed), reinstall and then reinstall the Restoration Project.

i have not done that since you suggested, but i tried that multiple times before with no success. should i delete the saves too?

No need to remove the saves. They worked for me, so something isn't right with your script files.

ok, i'll uninstall and remove everything, then reinstall and let you know how it turned out.

@killap

when installing the rp, should it be to the file: C:\Program Files\BlackIsle\Fallout2
If that is where you installed the game, then yes. The installer should automatically detect where to install as long as you didn't install the game manually.

@killap

if i did the automatic install, do i need to add all the fixes, or just the last few?
Just the last few - the ones marked not included in the latest installer/archive.

@killap

thank you so much for your help. i started with a completely clean slate, and did everything over, and it's working like it should now.

Glad everything is working. Not sure what happened, but whatever.

@ khing,
I tried your save. I talked to the BOS dude, went to Navarro, and nothing. It wouldn't crash for me.
What else did you do before going to Navarro? And what map in there crashed?

I just talked to the BoS dude, then took the car to Navarro, and clicked on the triangle to enter. It would seem to load the map, and then crashed to desktop immediately after displaying a black screen, ie I can't enter Navarro at all.

AFAIK it also crashed if i did not take the car.

@ khing,
Since it's working for me there is nothing wrong with your save game.
I would suggest that you remove everything except those and then install the game + RP again.
Also you mentioned that your friend have the same problem, did you both install from the same disc?

Sorry if this has been posted before, but it's hard to find something specific in 45 pages...

I have an issue with the RP: my character (and party members) does not take any damage from weapons anymore, except when I receive a critical hit. I tried to remove all armor and it's the same thing (the SAD turrets should have ripped me to shreds, but I "got hit for no damage".

I first noticed this in New Reno, but I didn't pay much attention initially, my character was rather strong and I had the bridgekeeper robes anyway. But I got to SAD and I noticed I still don't get damage...

This hasn't happened to me in my previous, non-RP playthroughs and I haven't heard of this bug in the original version, so I figure it could be related to the RP. Does anyone have a clue?

I tried to reinstall the patch, still the same. I really don't want to start over at this point, but being almost invincible kinda takes the fun away...

Thanks for the help!

yes we did. will try your suggestion

Edit: I did try reinstalling, but it did not fix the problem. looks like an error on the disc. Was there a different version released in Australia?

I'm wondering if you guys could fix this issue. At the military base killing the last uber super duper mutant on level 4 had a nice bath in the FEV pool with his brains sqwashed. See what happen was Sulik was blessed by grampa bone spirit and he gave him a hit that sent that uber super duper mutants sliding all they way across the pool like a surfer riding a wave. Then the uber super duper mutant sank like a pile of rocks.

I went to see what loot he had but all I can touchs is radioactive goo. I can see him but he's floating just under my reach...

I told sulik to calm his anger and chaos spirits next time lol.

Is this fixable?

Thanks for your time.

In ddraw.ini is DamageFormula = 1 or 2?

If so change it to DamageFormula = 0.

I'm going to work on a AP Ammo Mod that does not change the original damge formula soon, but that still will change the way AP Ammo works.

The original games proto vales are way to unbalanced, this is why the slight change to the damage formula I made may be the cause of so many late game hits for 0 damage.

Edit:
But, if in ddraw.ini DamageFormula is already =0 then the problem is something else entirely.

I found another bug in reno:
when i loose 3 boxing fight and want to fight another i automatic loose 4 fight when it starts. (have save if someone want see)

For me boxing works fine, and yes, I lost one fight intentionally to get the fifth DR-boost.

There's a bug for Killap to fix, but this is not an RP issue but an old bug from vanilla FO2, and most likely this is what happened to you:

From Per's Walkthrough:
If you lose by knockout there may be a bug that makes you lose the rematch before you even get to start fighting. This is because when combat ends directly after you score a critical failure that makes you lose your next turn, the game remembers that you have a lost turn coming up, and if that happens to be at the start of the next fight you lose again. Simply entering combat mode once in between the fights to get rid of this "debt" should take care of the matter (assuming you wouldn't rather reload after such an unfortunate occurrence).

Try to do a manual install first. Then you could try to re-download the RP mod. You could also try the manual RP version, but then you loose out on the extras.
If you have the time you could try to just install the game without any mods, and then run down to San Fransisco, talk to the BOS guy, and then see if Navarro works (to make sure the problem is not RP related).
I don't know whether it's the US or UK version in Australia, but that should not be the problem.

That did it, thanks a lot!

Boxing problem fixed by re-enter in fight mode... no bug.
Amo-dmg problem fixed by changing DamageFormula to 0. (was set to 1)
