* KILLAP * Before release the 1.3 version i have some ideas to add. (wenn like wasteland encounters)

Using Weapons Redone V1.7

I modified Throwing Knifes, Proto's and the Worldmap.TXT.
Maybe an idea to implemented as second choice for players who like more throwing in the game. Can be real annoying :D
Have modified females: Leather Jacket , Leather Armor, Metal Armor, Combat Armor, Power Armor & Adv. Power Armor Critters.
Guards from FRAN2_San_Fran_Caravan now wearing Power Armor.
HP's ; 75, 85, 95, 110, 125 & 150. DR & DT depends on armor they wearing.
All Skills are about the 90+, so wenn use a weapon they hit you 99% of the time.

Almost all Encounters are Modified.
But still tuning for a good nice balance.

Real fun watching Mobsters versus Gang or Yakuza.

Let me know wenn you are interested.
For me it's now real fun, but hard for my Party members.

While the above ideas are interesting -- and of course killap will have final say on this -- I believe they are out of scope for the Restoration Project.

The intention of the RP was to restore missing features and complete unimplemented areas that were intended by the original developers to be in the game, but for one reason or another were left out. What you have suggested falls more in line with enhancing the game. If killap is to allow for such enhancements to creep into the RP, he'll be introducing a whole new level of scope creep -- not that certain that he wants to do that.

Perhaps an alternate solution would be to add your own enhancements on top of the soon-to-be-released RP 1.3, and release that as your own mod. Needless to say, make sure you get killap's permission before you do this. :)

You have a point here, but what i wanna try to say is, it would be nice to add it in the Setup/Install screen, like the Cassidy's Armor.

Btw, do you know why those Yakuza's throwing so bad? Skills = 0%

And Mobsters had orginal on Worldmap.txt 2 pids, 1 with Sniper rifles, 1 with Tommy Guns.

This is the Original:

The firts type_01=ratio:50%, pid:16777253 will be overwritten by second type_01=Ratio:50%, pid:16777252, so you not see those female Mobsters with Tommy Guns. It always takes the last data. Reading from the top down. Same as the Map.ini's from Command & Conquer :D

Maybe time to PM each other.
 
So what's the exact procedure for installing this mod? I have an issue where the game crashes to desktop with the dreaded "Application Error" message when I have left Arroyo and meet the former Chosen One for the first time. I recall that this happened the last time I played it, and back then I fixed it by doing... something.

I've done a humongous installation of US Fallout 1.0. What now?

Start the RP installer, choose where to install it, choose what extras you want with it, and the go. You don't need to patch your game before, official or unofficial, since they are already included in the RP. Don't add any other mods, since they are most likely not compatible, at least not until you get RP working correctly first.
 
Meh, that's what I've already done and it doesn't work. I guess I'll just push it around for a while and see if that fixes it...
 
Well, you could always try to do a Manual Install.
Just remove everything to to with follout2 first, so you start out fresh.
This seems to be a rare problem, judging by the error reports, but the solution I've heard to work involved several re-installs.
you can also try the manual install version of the RP, but try the other thing first.

As a last resort option you can simply remove Kaga from your game.
Just move the file glkagaen.int out from your Fallout2\data\Scripts\ folder

This was what I ended up doing (after trying the manual install). As I recall, the Kaga subplot isn't really interesting enough to be worth the bother anyway.
 
Yay, another problem!

When I enter the Den, everything is just black and the screen doesn't seem to update properly. Almost as if the Den map is completely missing.

Hmm, I half expected that to happen. That seems to be the second symptom for whatever is messed up with your game. I know moving the Kaga file is not the problem. I'm going to see if I can find something about this, but can you please try with the manual install of the restoration project meanwhile?

Already tried that, didn't work. I'll prod around some more.
 
How about this then?

1. If the *.pro files inside your Critters and Items folders (in ...\Fallout2\data\Proto\...) are not set to read only, they will be deleted when you start the game.

2. If critters.lst and Items.lst are missing from those folders (or if it's the wrong ones), but the *.pro files are there, you get the same symptoms you have. (*.lst files don't seem to be deleted when not read only)

3. Maybe those files where never copied there in the first place.

Any of the above conditions will give you the exact same symptoms you are suffering from.

If it's the read only problem you are having, make sure you set the other files in the proto folder to read only, or maybe they will be deleted later as well.

Those files being read/write was indeed the problem. Thank you. :)
 
Dan's Wife

The lonely spouse Dan of Broken Hills is missing his wife
I am pretty sure she is supposed to be in the tunnels beneath the city but I can't find anything down there except ants. I am pretty sure when i played fallout 2 before I discovered Killap's work that she was always down there the first time i went in. Now i cannot find any trace.

Is this the effect of editing on the quest to make it run differently?
sry if this has been answered already, i need someone to explain to me how to find the answer without going through 70 pages of forum
 
@ Athas, Cool, glad it worked.
If you don't mind, could you please answer a couple of questions?
Do you have any idea how those files got their read only status changed? Did you only use the manual install of the RP or also the installer version, with the same result? It could be helpful for others, you know.

@ Goweigus, 70 pages... I think you can triple that at least, there are threads for RP 1.0 and 1.1 as well.
Oh, and then there's also the RP gameplay thread, where this probably belongs. :)
Anyway, the bodies wont show up in the tunnels until after you get the quest to find the missing people from Marcus.
To be honest I can't remember if this have been changed from the vanilla, but I don't think so.

First you need the Quest "Find Missing People" from Marcus. Then the death people are there.
 
oh... well thats kind of dumb... I think they should be there already and you should be able to go to marcus and say "holy shit theres bodies under the city!" then he'd be like "Oh yeah, that must be so and so. and so and so"

i probably dont have enough charisma or intelligence then to get the quest, anyone know the requirements?

No, it should not be changed. It was intentionally designed this way. It does not matter if it's dumb or not.
