Progress report:

Alright, spent some time going over the wiki bug list. I think I've fixed every scripting related bug that I could. Next up are the map glitches.

You'll notice that the random encounter/misc bug sections don't have many confirmed tags. The reason for this is that most of the issues reported there are random engine glitches; I can't really do anything about them. Ones that might not be engine glitches just don't have enough info to go by to warrant me spending the time to find the root of the problem.

i have a crazy suggestion: dont create a thread with the next update of F2RP where ppl can post, just a sticky thread where the guys can see what the updates are, otherwise ppl will post most of bugs here instead there like it always happened, also, all reports that dont have a savegame should be erased, if ppl cant upload one or more savegames to help you with the problems they dont deserve that the bugs that annoy them so much get fixed, this thread is FULL of posts like this. :x
 
I think it might be useful to release the next version of the RP for a week or so (a mini release), just to test the mod for any major or obvious issues, then re-release it properly with all the whistles and fan-fare. After all this might be the final release of the mod. The only possible new content in the future would be new critters...Mr. Black and Miss Red Head, and considering how long it takes to make new critters, we might be talking about years here... :roll:

Just saw the wiki and the stuff you fixed. wow. Awesome stuff! Looking forward to that stability patch. :clap:

Yeah, I was thinking of doing something like that. It will be a closed beta though of ~5 people. Won't happen for at least a few weeks.

Yes, a new release of the RP will happen in the next few months.
 
Hi all, I've installed the Gog version of Fallout + the Restoration Patch. Nothing else.

When I try to start the game I can see the music (so, the game starts rightly) but all I can see is a black screen.


What's the problem?

I have some questions:

1) I saw in new places text file, place Abbey.
How to find Abby?

2) What I can do in EPA? I killed all plants and saw 2 elevator. The First cannot open and I use rope with the second and go down level, but there is nothing, just a generator which I cannot be repair...?

3) How to open this elevator in Vault 15?
I trying EVERYTHING! Here is a screenshoot:

4) And the last question,
Fallout 2 crashed with this error:
"Privileged instruction was executed at address xxxxxxx"
What I can do?

5) Can I play Fallout 2 in windows mode and how?

3) Like it has said before it requires a red keycard

4) This is Killap's department, but more information on the cause of error would be appreciated

5) Edit the ddraw.ini in Fallout directory (using notepad) and in the graphics area set to mode=5

Just finished the game with this mod installed, it was awesome, so thanks to all involved.

First I played a good char with many followers, I got the EPA location from a traveler and thought it was very well done.

After NCR though the endless doorblocking and backshooting of my followers, combined with a feeling of repulsion towards my own character for being such a fucking goody shoes, I decided to make a solo evil char instead.

It was a lot more challenging, and definitely more fun, however I never met any travelers whatsoever and never got the EPA location on my map. Is there any way to get the EPA location as an evil char?
I was pretty evil from the start, after playing a good char for so long I just felt the need to lay waste to Klamath and joined the slavers as soon as I got to the the Den. Never met a single traveler in the game, yet as a good char I couldn't move go two squares without tripping over one.

Being so evil, bounty hunters came for me. I have to say, those encounters were too hard too fast. I mean, I was lvl 20ish with metal armor and a .223 pistol and 4 guys in power armor show up with sequence so high they all get 2 rounds in combat after my 1 turn. What the hell, I had no chance until I got power armor and a minigun /w double lifegiver for 300+ hits and even then they often killed me in 1 round.

No big bugs that I remember, one I do remember is that after killing the emperor I got in a big fight in Chinatown and fled the area, when I came back I tried to talk to the Dragon 8 store guy he said he hated me and the only response I could give was "error" =)

Anyway, great mod, wont play FO2 without it anymore!

As far as I know you should still encounter travelers as an evil character. It was probably just a strange coincidence that you didn't.

Yup, just bad rolls. Those encounters are available to anyone.

Nothing to report. I've been extremely busy at work the past few weeks. Hopefully in the coming days I'll have some time to get back into fixing the last bit of issues.

If you post that on the wiki, that will help KillaP to find and squash the script bug ...

First of all, thanks for all the work you've done on the restoration project. I'm replaying Fallout 2 for the umpteenth time - first time with the RP - and what I've seen so far is great. (Mom's Orphanage, etc).

I've noticed a few things that seem odd to me (apologies if this has been brought up already):

- The scoped hunting rilfe displays terrible odds of hitting anything. Is this intentional? I'm at 50% small guns and a regular shotgun gives me 95% chance to hit my target while the scoped hunting rifle says it gives me -30% (yes, minus 30%). Is that normal?

- I remember getting the prizefighter perk and having about 12 flat damage reduction and playing the game pretty much in my jumpsuit and in melee, for fun. Now it seems the perk only gives me 5% DR, which is essentially nothing. If this was an intentional change, can I get rid of that somehow?

- One minor (no pun intended) typo that I just noticed:
In Broken Hills, Max the Caravan Guard tell's me about a "minor's strike" that should be a "miner's strike" unless the kids refused to work....

The scoped hunting rifle gives you a negative bonus at short range so only use it at medium/long range.
Prizefighter perk giving you 12 flat damage reduction was an old bug.
 
Thanks for clearing that up, Sobboth. Even though I find it very strange that the sniper rifle is highly accurate at melee range but the hunting rifle would not be... Oh well. Bummer about the prizefighter, but I guess I can just go and get some real armour. Though using martial arts in power armor somehow feels wrong to me.
