I volunteer, but it might take me a lot of time, I'm lazy and busy but spend a lot of time in the PC reading about Fallout, playing, etc. I was already thinking in volunteering but didn't to avoid rising hopes :p
Although the official Fallout had no spanish version, there is an unofficial translation which is updated to the unofficial patch.
I think we could start from there. Would you join me, jupiter?
Also, I know of at least two or three friends of mine who are gonna volunteer free beers for me if I make the translation
I would like to help but i am not sure if my spanish is good anough, and i have to get a better dictionary couse what i have will probably not sufice.I was just thinking how good it would be to play fallout again and practise spanish at the same time.Ok,i will look around town for a good spanish dictionary and i think ill be ready to help.So how do we do this?

Wondering if I can get a link to Spanish translation of Unofficial patch by Killap?

Sorry, I checked again and "officially" it's updated only up to 1.02, but it works well with Killap's patch (I didn't check it wasn't supposed to work before I used it :P).
I think it might come with the known "Error" dialogs bug, because of possible changed dialogs, and is patch000.dat also, which might cause problems with the patch (IIRC, it warns about any patch000.dat being in Fallout 2 folder). But that is easy to solve IIRC. I don't remember having any problem, but I play it in english from the first day I knew about Restoration Project, so my memory might be wrong about it.

EDIT: I'm checking some files inside, and seems to be made in a hackish way, it patches over the english version instead of making a spanish version of the text.

The easy part, the one I sort of know how to do (I'm not sure if there are some conditions the translated strings must accomplish, like a size limit or a need to avoid tildes (spanish speakers calls tilde to ` and ´ symbols, not to ~)) is just translating strings in a text file. Other things might need us to read some modding tutorials. The unofficial translation has translated graphics already, which is IMO the more complicated part.

I think we could try to contact the people who translated it first to check if they can help too.

Thanks, Oppen. For the links.

I'm trying to get a Sticky Topic for Fallout translations with links to various languages

Hi there, i'm one of the members of the spanish translation project on the web Oppen has posted before (Clan Dlan). Just want to clarify one thing. Actually there is no translation for Fallout 2, neither RP nor the original. The patch Oppen has posted wasn't made by Clan Dlan, but instead by a web called VaultX (which went offline several years ago) and it's not an "unofficial" traslation. Alas, it's a poor work which was rushed out and totally messed up, with over 80% of dialogues translated with automatic translators (yep, i know it sounds a bizarre move but they really did it). So i wouldn't call it a translation.

Nowadays we are translating the game, but you know its a really long and complex work, and our project has seen big problems (the previous translator lost all his work in an unfortunate pc failure), which forced us to restart the entire project from scratch when it was almost finished. It's like the Duke Nukem Forever of the translations, hehe. We also want to translate the RP, but first we need to end translating the original. Being said that, all help is welcome.

Might be a stupid question but I'm new at the whole Fallout mods thing.

If I start a game using 2.1.2b will I have to start over when 2.2 comes?

I think Yes
I certainly hope not, considering that I've been waiting to continue my game after being told that my issue would be solved in the next patch.

I know this isn't the place, but I've got a simple feature request, which should be quite easy to implement. When you win the game (in vanilla), Lynette tells you you can enter Vault City with any companion, and consequently Marcus is allowed to enter. The problem is that if you talk to the Doctor inside the Vault, he becomes hostile and call the guards because you have Marcus in your team. It shouldn't just check if you are the Captain of the Guard to avoid being hostile if a mutant is in your team, but check if you are Captain of the Guard OR you won the game. Either should give you the same dialog path with him. I'd implement it myself but I don't know the language used. What do you think about it? Maybe it's already fixed and I didn't know, in that case, sorry to bother (I didn't win RP yet).

Here's a bug: I asked the Bridgekeeper about his spear and he told me about the flint. Then I went to Klamath, bought Sulik to accompany me and returned to Arroyo. In Arroyo, I bought the flint from Morlis and went to the Bridgekeeper. I then got no dialog option to have him sharpen my spear, all I get is him nagging about not having found Vault 13 yet, and no lines whatsoever regarding the flint or the spear..

@ocelot
Well, it's mentioned in Pers guide, but not labeled as bug there. Not sure who would be a good judge now if such dialog change, making the quest impossible to finish, was intentional or not.

Back from 2 weeks out of town on work related matters.

Hopefully I can get back into the swing of things and push out a beta.

Did you check out the WINE section of the RP technical wiki?
Yes, I did. As I said, the game runs fine, except it does not seem to be the RM mod, so I don't see how WINE wiki could help here, anyway.

Make a fresh install of Fallout2 with RP. Then you have to set up ddraw override for fallout2.exe to make RP active. It's because sfall runs by dll injection so you need to tell wine to not use it's build-in ddraw library.

Code:
WINEDLLOVERRIDES="ddraw.dll=n" wine FALLOUT2.EXE
You can set it up also through winecfg if you do not want write this long command to shell all the time.

I did just that last night, and I graduated to a new problem (which, I suppose, is progress):

"Error initializing video mode 640x480"

I keep Wine virtual desktop, f2res.ini and ddraw.ini files with the same resolution defined, and whether it is 640x480, or 1307xsomething, I get the same error.

Try to set up opengl as default renderer for fallout2 in wine registry and use graphics mode 4 or 5 in ddraw.ini

Superb. That did the trick.

And additional scaller modes make everything looks excellent. Great game, great mod!
