I'm getting the classic 'Fallout appears to be running in compatibility mode' even though I'm not running the game in compatibility mode. It is only fixed when I uncheck the box to run it in 256 colours, but then the colour goes all wierd and fuzzy.
 
In the NPC combat control screen, under Chem Use, two of the options are "Stimpacks when hurt a bit" and "Stimpacks when hurt a lot". I'm thinking this would be more accurate if it said "Healing drugs", since stimpacks aren't the only healing drug in the game, and the NPCs do use them. (Is that script-based, or engine-based, though?)

I guess I still have to post this here, even though it feels off-topic.

What does having Skynet add to the game after it is recruited? Does his presence affect anything in the Enclave platform, for example? (I assume I crash the Enclave's party at some point, but not sure since this is my first play-through.) Does he get a mention in the ending? Et cetera?

Since I lost him to the EPA bug, if I can go on without him and miss very little, all I need to do is find out what I'd be missing and I'll be satisfied. But if he'd suddenly start having lines later, well, I'd feel gypped.
 
You won't be missing much of anything. After you get Skynet, he helps you kill shit, and that's about it. There are no plot developments centered around having Skynet in your party.
 
@Jatopian: a vaild question. (Perhaps a better fit would be this thread?)

[Edit @ Dravean: unless it's the Skynet from Terminator, and then you'll have the power to control the nukes... and therefore, the entire plot ;-) ]
 
1. I was feeling lonely with just 5 followers, and I went by Modock to pick up a wife. I then discovered Moira (and so probably Davin, too) does not change her appearance when wearing an armor. I here was hoping to form my very own Enclave patrol outfit of 6 power armors.

2. Also, it would be nice to find EPA by means other, than Myron. I tried talking to travellers around New Reno, but none of them knew anything about it.

Armor graphics would have to be created for Miria and added to her critter. With as much labor as goes into changing the critter graphics (which is discussed extensively in other threads), and as minor of a character as Miria is (even with the Miria mods), I sincerely doubt that anyone will be making such a change, unless you decide to do the modding work yourself - which I'm sure would be welcomed, if it's important enough for you to invest the time to do it right. Outside of that, I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for a Miria power armor appearance mod to be part of the RP.

1. Where did you get 6 Enclave PAs? Moira is a Fallout 3 character, you mean Miria.

2. I think it makes sense that noone points you to a place completely invested with plagues like muderer plants. I don't even understand why there is a caravaneer in Fallout 1 who tells you he periodically travels to The Glow.

The Miria for Real mod (either the original one for vanilla version or the Restoration project one) has armor graphics for her. Even through those sprites are the same as if the player female character wore the armor.

I am still waiting for the new release of the project to make another version of the miria for real mod, a less glitchy one than my previous one. (I am not the author of the Miria for Real, I only made it compatible with the Restoration project, even through nobody in this forum seems to like Miria for some reason)
 
I like Miria fine as the joke/burden she was intended to be. It defeats the purpose of her character to make her into a useful NPC, hence why the RP project has not gone out of its way to support such endeavors—it's not in the spirit of what the RP is about.

That said, I have absolutely nothing against other people modifying the game to suit their tastes.

thanks for fixing the bugs and for still giving your time to improve this mod, btw, i noticed something i'd like to ask: i noticed that you didnt go through the misc/kaga/ending bugs, those are unfixable stuff at the moment or something that depends on Timeslip like those engine bugs?
 
Companion bug

I have encountered a strange bug. My companions delevel if I travel to another map.

All I have installed (besides rp 2.12 with all option) is Nirran's Miria mod.

I noticed there is an segment of the mod dealing with companion leveling, could that be at fault?

Is there any hope of fixing this bug without needing to re install the game and mod and/or needing to start a new game?

No, I did go through them a few weeks ago. Left many comments in bold. As always with Misc/Random Encounter reports, they are mainly engine/installation related issues. I know we all want a 100% bug free Fallout 2 experience, but don't hold your breath. The best I can do is fix all *known* map/script/text/item issues in the original game and the RP. I think that goal has been met with the original and it'll probably take another patch after this for the RP.

Didn't get around to fully implement Kaga fixes yet. And endings bugs save game is no longer available.

I still have a dozen or so issues/changes I still need to make to this release before it's ready for testing. I've been sick (yet again...) these past few days which is why I've had the time to go squashing.
 
Gabriel - u should report this at wiki and you didnt give the specs of your computer, neither savegames like it's recommended, plz read the 1st post.

Killap - i see, but dont understand me in a wrong way, i know we cant have a totally free bug experience ;) since lovely bethesda doesnt want to release the source code of all Fallouts before Fallout 3. :/

Short answer is that the mod is most likely at fault. Which companions are deleveling though? Just Miria/Davin?

Even with the source code it wouldn't be that easy to track down and fix some of these issues. We'd at least have a standing chance though.

More checked off the bug wiki. I feel like I should take a break but I need to take advantage of modding bursts like this.

1. I am curious if that included the bug I recently encountered - Brain Bot completely vanishing from the game upon climbing down the rope in EPA.

On a side note, would you be kind enough to post a link to this bug wiki?



2. In a separate Hi-Res mod, it was possible to increase the resolution without rescaling the graphics, which resulted in much wider visible. Is this possible in RP? I tried various scaller options in ddraw.ini, but they all resize everything to scale. It would help not only sniper characters, but also make areas like EPA entrance and 2nd level less prone to screen locking in unreachable areas.

3. I am playing on WINE and I am getting really low FPS. On the fastest scale option, I get 5-10 fps at best, and after some time it drops to 1-3 fps. Is this avoidable? HiRes fallout mod did not lag like this.
 
On a side note, would you be kind enough to post a link to this bug wiki?

see ALWAYS the first page of restoration patches, fixes or any mod related to anything, the info is ALWAYS there. ;)
