Edit2: In the spirit of scientific inquiry, I disabled my fix (so the above = 0), and set a lower resolution (960x600). The problem was gone (or just didn't manifest at an observable level). I don't have the vocabulary to properly describe it, but the problem is clearly related to the resolution the mouse thinks it has, vs. what is rendered on screen.

I'm not optimistic about this helping me (as I said in the prior message, I'm not at home to try it), but I'll try it Friday. I noticed serious lag on the menu when I first launched F2RP, which initially runs at 640x480. The problem persisted when I changed it to 1920x1200 with 2X scaling (effectively 960x600). Oddly, it seemed a lot worse near the buttons on the menu than on parts of the menu screen with no interactive components. I have no idea why that would be.

Popping back in after crazy work deadlines and moving into a new place.

I'm still not settled in yet (I always forget how much moving really, really sucks), but when I am, I'll release an update to address the installer issue with Steam and any current standing bugs. I was going to wait until the translations are done, but the Steam issue is too much to leave until then.

So, expect a minor update soonish. 8-)

@agris: Good find

@everyone: Those bug reports better be finding their way to the wiki. ;) Wiki looks sparse, so I'm not sure I'm being listened to, since skimming this thread I'm seeing new issues only on here. Oh, and thanks everyone for helping each other out with questions. I'm not around enough to answer them all.

Steam issue? I use Steam and had no problem installing this mod.

Trying it out now, and most of it is a joy, I even discovered a vanilla game detail I hadn't before - but - Kaga is giving me a lot of trouble :I

I'm getting various versions of his gang, at first I imagined they would sortof exponensially get more badass, similar to old Kaga but I got metal-armored Kaga (or one later, which crashed) followed by power armored Kaga (which crashed even faster) before having defeated previous Kaga.
I have only successfully chased off two Kaga encounters, (one killed me, fair enough :D but not possible to load mid-battle), the rest crashed as soon as I 'touch' him with my aim, very unexpected :I

These are the only issues tho, Kaga being cash-happy, although I did enjoy the narrative rearrangement of Kaga, he feels a bit more believable
(I've only played one of the first versions of the RP I suspect, before this one)

As of now I'm sortof nervous, knowing a Kaga encounter is due, hoping I'll be able to luck out on the crash, but I'm suspecting it has to do with the order of advancedness mixing up somehow, seeing that I got fully-armored Kaga so soon (could it be geographic? I was messing around down south when I suddenly got the power-armored one).

Edit, chased away another Kaga, this was the metal armored one that previously crashed on me. Seems like they must be chased off in the right order.[spoiler:bb1ef14b24]
Also, nice redesign on the EPA, the lowest level sent me in a u-turn right back up again "D:"[/spoiler:bb1ef14b24]

Hm, I've noticed just two things:

- According to your guide, Metzger should reveal the location of his camp to me. I've talked to him with Speech skill > 80 and he mentioned the camp, but didn't mark it on my map. (The location appeared correctly on my map after defeating him and talking to one of the former slaves, though.)

- When entering the slaver camp for the first time, slavers turned out hostile on sight, without possibility to talk with them.

Both of them added to the bug-report wiki just for sure.

I got the Slaver camp location out of him no problem with speech around 70 and he's still alive and kicking :)
(And Slavers probably got hostile because You killed Metzger)

Is anybody else experiencing problems with two special encounters, the bridge guarding and a herd of brahmin. In both case kamikaze brahmin appear and they charge you(in bridge guardian if you attack him), my problem is that when I kill most of the brahmin they "respawn", or rather new ones appear. After a maybe 7 or 10 rounds the game freezes, and I have end fallout2.exe process from task manager. Does anybody know a solution to this?

I'm not quit sure if this is a RP problem, but I have finished both encounters successfully before without RP installed.

I've always had this problem with the Mad Brahmin herd. If you kill a lot of them, it will freeze up like you said. I don't remember if it did this in the vanilla version with me. It's been years since I've played vanilla, because the RP is too damned addicting. I'm curious to that problem as well.

Question: Is there any permanent stat enhancement added in Restoration Project so far, besides the current ones? I would like to get as many stat point as possible. Thanks.

Yeah, there is syringe in EPA that gives You 1 point to Agility

Well, they do get harder, in line with you. He gets better armor, weapons, etc, as do his minions. It was always this way.

As for the crashes/out of order encounters, huh, never had this problem. Do you happen to have a save game before you get an encounter? You shouldn't get them out of order like you are saying, it's all based on your level. Nor should crashing occur, especially not as consistent as you're describing.

Interesting. Does Steam install to your C:\Program Files ?

No I have Steam installed on another hard drive outside of the program files folder.
Well, that would be why. The installer issue is only if you have Steam installing games to C:\Program Files

No, sorry, I saved over it, but from what I can tell, the crash happens when I get an out-of-order encounter, and put my aim on Kaga himself. As long as they come in the right order, they seem to work fine. On my save now I just defeated the metal armored one, Marcus even killed him after he ran off the map, so now I'm worried again, since Kaga's too dead to be encountered wearing the power armor :D Hopefully he stays dead :D

I did decline some of his first encounter prompts, could that have anything to do with it? The only mod I'm using is the RP, so there are no additional conflicts with anything level wise or anything I can think of.

Just chiming in here regarding the 'sticky mouse' issue. I too have it, with my Logitech G5 (it's an oldie but a goodie). Win 7 64 (enhanced pointer precision is enabled on the Win mouse settings. Disabling it and running F2 w/ RP 2.2 re-enables it. Clue?) Using DX9, 16 bit color and 1280x800 in the high res patch config settings.

Now I'm really baffled about this mouse issue. I haven't had a chance to try your config file fix, but I had a few minutes this morning before work to try your resolution change fix.

I hooked up a second mouse to my computer, and verified that upon running FO2, the G500 mouse had lag problems, and the other mouse (Logitech M325 laptop mouse) did NOT. Then I changed the resolution to a lower non-scaled resolution, and the lag went away on the G500. I changed it to 1920x1200 without any scaling, and there was no lag. I changed it back to 1920x1200 WITH 2X scaling, and there was no lag.

I made changes in a circle, basically, ending with the same settings that I had started at, and the problem was gone (at least on the main menu - again, I only had a few minutes). Before posting my original message, I tried FO2 at multiple resolutions and the problem didn't go away, but, either causally or coincidentally, it went away after I connected a second mouse and THEN made changes to the game resolution.

I also quickly tried shutting down and restarting FO2. Still no lag with the G500 (at 1920x1200 w/ 2X scaling).

As far as I can tell, the net change to my configuration was precisely zero, but the problem is gone, at least for now.

I have two bugs to report but i don't have save :(
#1 If you play as male (havent tryied as female) and have sex in Modoc with Grishams daughter or son, when he comes in the room and starts to ask questions, you can run and starts to chase you yelling something like "wait boy! im not over with you" or something. well, if then you run out of the town so you don't get married, and go to another town, in town your party NPCs (I have Vic and Sulik) will just stay in place like you ordered them to wait for you and nothing can make them follow you thru the city.

#2 Psycho hangover doesn't recover according to the link:
http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Fallout_2_consumables
Immediate: +3 Agility, -3Intelligence, +50 Damage Resistance
After 4 Hours: -3 Agility, +1 Intelligence, -25 Damage Resistance
After 8 Hours: +2 Intelligence, -25 Damage Resistance

instead it recovers like this:
Immediate: +1 Agility, -3Intelligence, +50 Damage Resistance
After 4 Hours: +1 Agility, +1 Intelligence, -25 Damage Resistance
After 8 Hours: +1 Intelligence, -25 Damage Resistance

What do you mean decline? You mean on the world map you chose to not enter the encounter?

Yep. Like with other encounters, some I don't get any options, and are thrown in. The first was like that iirc, then the 2nd or so, I got a prompt, and declined.

Edit, finished it now, and must say congrats, this was all very enjoyable. [spoiler:96c98bfe09]I chuckled out loud to the Morpheus-esque dialogue of Obi-Wan ;D
Among the great surprises were the re-designed lowest level of the Mariposa base (astounding! And absolutely not intrusive as a change to the game, instead, quite spot on!), and the complete redesign of EPA, including the lowest level there, which gave me a good old fright that I loved with this game before getting too used to it!
On the next playthrough I am going to figure out how to get those damn companions down there![/spoiler:96c98bfe09]

Okay, cool. Thanks for the info. I'll look into this further.
