When the cursor is static, the game runs at about 30 fps but if you keep moving it, the fps rises to up to 300. Is it normal? Also, specifically on the character screen, fps skyrockets to around 1500 whether you move the cursor or not. I'm on Win 7 64 bit.

Try changing the CPU idle setting in ddraw.ini (found inside your main Fallout 2 directory)

(PS: hope you will come back to it for new content like Ms punk girl etc :wink: )
I always did say I'm a sucker for new Fallout graphics. That is one thing that could pull me back.

killap, you know how to remove the maxmovedestination-limit? if you want to move through a map you need 3 well placed clicks. the limit is like 30-40 squares. Fallout FIXT has that limit removed. Some people like to keep clicking, but in some occasions it's pretty annoying if you have to wait till you can click again :P

it's a f1_res feature.

@Schezza
There's an identical feature for f2_res, check "NumPathNodes" setting in f2_res.ini.

FYI everyone, I think I'll be making a minor update before the end of the year (i.e. by Dec 31st) to put everything on a truly clean slate. It will be very minor and just be called RP 2.3.1. Still, it'll put my mind at ease for the coming year and for the long modding hiatus ahead.

@killap

Thanks for a lightning fast response. I found the setting of "1" to be the best compromise between the smooth cursor/high fps and a bit laggy cursor/lower fps. Now the fps rises to around 110 when moving the cursor, and to 550 at character screen. Higher values doesn't seem to improve anything but make cursor and movies very laggy. I just wish there was a way to maintain constant 30 or 60 fps without any fluctuations. Still, it's a very minor issue compared to FOT where I'm getting constant 1,5k fps no matter what I'm doing and my card is sweating like it was rendering some 3d modern shooter :)

you've made me curious. I installed fraps and at character creation it shows 3200 fps... that can't be right, graphic card is not even blowing? moving mouse over load for importing .GCD it even climbs to 4200 :o

alright, I love this game, but missing a 39% chance 7 times in a row is... that's what I would have said, until I met the next ant. I missed THIRTEEN times in a row LOL, that's some bullshit right there LOL. can't help myself but complain.. I forgot, I turned both difficulties on hardest, but it's still hilarious :)

Looks like the UP will benefit more from this final tidying up, but still some goodies in store for the RP. Some fixes to Cassidy and the return of lost dialogue with him too. Also fixes to an issue or two that were brought up since the release of RP 2.3.

Lost Cassidy dialogue?
You already voiced it and I totally remember reading it years ago. I guess it got lost at some point? Must have been a long time ago because I can't even find it in my records.

It's dialogue where Cassidy discusses his dislike of Myron.

Let me know if you need me to re-send something to you. I should have all the lines.

@killap, what about scripts sources? (ssl files)
I need to adjust some restock inventories and some quest rewards for my rebalance mod, but cannot use original script sources, 'cause it will break all RP changes related to that script.

Also I'm wondering, why ammo PRO files were included in 2.3 version (there were not in 2.1), can you describe what general changes were made to the ammo?

If you choose YAAM (which is the default option in the installer unless you uncheck it) it's perfectly normal there will be lots of them.
If you only see a few of ammo protos (should be 3), .44 JHP is from official patch, DR changed from +50 to +20. 9mm ball & BB's only have their "size" set from 1 to 0 to match all other ammo.

About the source files, I think you need to wait a couple of days after RP 2.3.1 & UP 1.02.30 released.

And if there's any extra lip files needed, please ask Killap. I'll do my best to get them done before the 31st.

It's good to hear you are going to update your mod - I love it!

Now I finished the RP third time, and my f2 didnt crash a single time! Good job Killap. Is there any extra secret can be found after the ending? I met the Umbra Tribe's leader once again, who set himself fire :P
Could it happen somehow else? He wanted to tell me something.

I really wanted to try this mod since I have the FIXT mod in the original Fallout. However I have a very crappy Acer Aspire One D260 that even playing Baldur's Gate makes it lag and can't handle very well Quake 1...

Fallout 2 runs pretty well and no lag with the 1.2 version of the RP because it doesn't have the high resolution patch... when I moved on from 2.3 it lags a lot when I have 5 party members or when I am in san fransisco. I tried disabling the high resolution and doesn't lag anymore... however the RP requires the high res enabled so it doesn't make the maps weird.

My question is:
1.Is there any way that can be done so that the RP is independent of the high resolution?
2.If not, then is there any way the high res patch can be made to make it less laggy on slower systems.
3.If both can't be done, then what version of the RP can i use so that I can still enjoy Fallout 2 RP without lag?
