Fallout 2 mod Fallout 2 Restoration Project Discussion (ideas/suggestions)

One thing I like that killap dose it that he never add anything to the game that was not there in the core, s adding this mode would be against that, you can always add it ure self.

I'd bet all my chips that the devs would've done something like this if they had had the time and resources available. This is such an improvement over the original game that it warrants inclusion. It is just graphically lazy not to show armor changes. Besides, Killap is including the B Team npc armor mod with his expansion anyway. This is just an exquisite upgrade to that concept.

Killap, any comments?

Mein werke!

And awsome work it is Fallout Ranger! If you need any gruntwork done, I'd be happy to help.

I am including the B-Team mod as well as a few others. However, they are ALL optional and can be checked or unchecked in the installer.

Thus, if the armor frms for all the NPCs gets complete I will definitely add it as an option in the installer.

Thanks for making these additions optional.

I'm not a fan of the B-Team mod because it strips the NPCs of their identities, however, if this new NPC Armor mod becomes complete, I would be happy to use it.

The ammount of work you're plutting into making Fallout 2 the game it should have been continues to bring a stupefied grin to my face. Seriously, this forum should pool together and get you a gift certificate for a new piece of hardware or something. I'm sure a lot of the folks here would put up $. I'm down for $20 if you get a paypal site up.

On a different note, have the mac guru's that helped with the unoficcial patch figured out a way to make a modular installer? Or are the OS X heathen going to have to fend for themselves on this one by creating custom patch000.dat files?

I usually only lurk, but wanted to pop in to say that I, too, would also donate to the thank-you-Killap fund.

Not that I am in any way speaking for killap, but I believe he is waiting for his patch to solidify (no more bugs). It also seems to me he is pretty close, just needing a little more input from a few helpful members on any remaining issues.

Then; as I believe he has stated before, he will move all fixes into the expansion. This makes a lot of sense release wise, it should hopefully allow for any issues that are reported to be only associated with the code he has introduced for the expansion solely.

AIIIIIIIEEEEEE finish it! Finish it! Finish it!

Pwetty please?

It's amazing that a game this old, with graphics even I could slap together, can be so addicting and entertaining. World of Warcraft? Screw the elves and orcs, I want whores, childkillers, drugs, sex and gore!

My most favorite play in Fallout 2 so far, is a martial arts thief with 2 charisma and a dog as companion: kamikaze, onehander, unarmed, sneaking and lockpicks, then a tag to stealing at level 12 and skillpoints into speech (75%) as soon as possible. I love oneshotting a 200hp clawbeast with a single haymaker.

Also, I -never- use power armor, I only use combat armor, mainly for the looks, but also to add an extra level of difficulty to the game, because I dislike playing on "hard" mode.

Of course you always have to avoid the encounters where 12 roughnecks start up pointing heavy support machine guns at you, but not having endless 80K gold worth of guns in encounters adds more monetary balance to the game anyway. I'm not entirely averse to adding some minor modifications like +5 melee damage and a normal damage threshold of 5 with a character editor sometimes, but I've earned that after finishing the game!

Looks like the topic completely died, no expansion after all?
No, there will indeed be a expansion. I have been more active in the patch thread than in here and thus have not posted info here which I might have mentioned elsewhere.

Expansion has been delayed a bit until I get through the bug reports still coming in for the patch. In addition, classes are getting in the way and taking up more time than I would like. I had mentioned in the patch thread that an expanison release should occur sometime in early November (perhaps the end of the first week).

Just sit tight. I don't give up on my projects.

Just like to say I'm looking forward to your expansion mate and just about to run through the game with your patch.

Must have played it around 10 times without it and never got to San Fran. Time to change that I think :D

I'm just playing Jagged Alliance 2 while waiting on the expansion, it's a cool game as well, much more realistic fighting, but not half as addicting.
I'm just in love with Unarmed in Fallout 2.

I'm already bored of it actually, finish the expansion soooon. :(

Maybe the first post need to be updated, right?
How about the chinese sub? And the Vertibird encounter?? ...or the posibility to use Vertibirds to get to the Enclave...
