Fallout 2 Restoration Project Gameplay Thread

Actually, removing a eckaga#.int file would not be a good idea. If you want to temporarily stop the encounters, move the file called "glkagaen.int" from your script folder. When you put it back though you will most likely immedialtly get an encounter with him.

This worked for me:
First wipe out the slave camp before you talked to the rangers in NCR. Then talk to the ranger girl, she will acknowledge the 2nd Rangers quest as done. Take out slave pen in NCR.

This might be your problem:
After that you can still report about the slave camp and she wants you to wipe it out again.

cheers

I guess too late now. I have already moved on.
Anyway, I have the ranger's pin. That's more important I guess.

SPOILER=>

P.S : To convert=>

*The help you ask me for as regards the lightning problem in EPA. When you are inside EPA, before repairing something, use your science skill on the thing you want to repair first (for example, you won't be able to repair the EPA generator without checking it with "science"). For the "junk" you can find a lot of these things around the Warehouse=>

Thanks McRae-

I have to admit the regular encounters when hoofing it on foot across the waste were a bit oppressive but a great way to acquire more guns and money.

As for answering the question- How to Kill Kaga.

I went into battle with Sulik, Cassidy, Vic and Dogmeat. Dogmeat might not do a lot of damage but he can knock someone on his ass- and thus makes it easy to "shoot em in the eyes."

My character- generally a Per inspired Gifted Team gunfighter. I got Bridgekeeper Robes on with L.E. Red Rider BB gun Vic as Metal Armor Mark 2 and a sniper rifle, Cassidy has Combat Armor and sniper rifle, and Sulik has super sledge and Combat Armor.

(1) Save frequently.
(2) Before meeting Kaga for the fifth round, try a little Psycho. If addicted, load again.
(3) When in battle, Kaga gets first blast- chances are he's only take you down 10-25 points.
(4) Hit him in the eyes for critical.
(5) Let Sulik or Dogmeat drop him
(6) Don't stop shooting his eyes out till the bitch is dead.

Loved the King Arthur and the Holy Hand grenade.

How to kill Kaga:

Hit his head with just about anything you can: fists, sledgehammers, guns, whatever!

Knock him out, loot all his stuff and then watch as he tries to punch you to death whilst you just shoot him up to your hearts content!

Kaga should much harder in 1.2. It should be rare to kill him before the last encounter. And knocking him out and stealing his stuff should no longer be possible either.

Hi, Great Job. You made fallout 2 even better. I have been playing this series since the beginning.
1 minor problem in the primitive tribe well quest. I can't get the *&^&% bucket to attach to the well.
I have read all the threads and downloaded your tribe1 fix (four times) and copied over the one in the scripts folder each time.
Here's the way I've been doing it.
-talk to marli
-attach rope to well ( always works)
-talk to marli (asks if the bucket has been fixed)
-attach bucket to well -------THIS NEVER WORKS----- tried it a dozen times------ out of ideas-----HELP PLEASE-----
Other than this, FANTASTIC RESTORATION. Keep up the Great work. Thanks.

Well, the original intent was to only get additional quests from the Tribe once you gained enough trust with them. The well quest was one of these but it was brought to my attention that being unable to repair the well, when the character clearly sees that it is broken, until until a specific time was dumb. I changed this in the new script file but perhaps something broke. Still, doing the quest the old way should work just fine.

Sorry, but what do you mean by doing the quest the old way??? I cant get the well fixed no matter what I try. I have a 77% repair skill, and it seems I can't get any more of the quests until I fix the well. I've tried using repair on it with myself or sometimes I can get Vic to try the repair, but it doesn't get fixed. Do I need a higher repair skill????

Sorry, disregard the comment that I couldn't get the rest of the quests. I just happened to be near the shaman's tent at midnight and did the ghost quest and then was given the huning party quest. So I guess I'm just missing something or doing something in the wrong order in the well quest.
Thanks for lisening :D (needed a rant, just got my hours cut a work)

I fixed the well with no problem at all...use the rope in the well, then I got the bucket and used it in the well, and that's it. It's fixed.

SPOILER ALERT!
SPOILER ALERT!
SPOILER ALERT!
SPOILER ALERT!

I'm having trouble at EPA, no, it's not crashing, but I can't do ANYTHING there! I went to EPA, entered through the air vent, killed some critters, entered in another vent, got inside the vent, and after exploring the 4 floors...I'm stuck! The only thing I did was fixed a hologram, and a PC that it seemed to have magnetic problems, but both of these didn't helped me at all! Some hints, please!

I did everything it could be done there alredy, forget this.

Have you talked to the argueing holograms in the room next to the computer that had the magnetic coil problem? There are a few quests there, plus talking to the last remaining scientist on the surface can lead to a few quests if you have high enough stats.

Would dearly love to know what that is. CANT get the bucket to attach. Simply cant. I click on the well, select backpack, select bucket, and get a message saying the well is missing a rope and a bucket.

AFTER I got the message saying "Well, thats the rope fixed". Talked to the tribal. He just says "Is the bucket fixed yet?"

Seriously, this many people asking about the quest, maybe theres a bug somewhere? But if not, whats this old way? Am I just blind?

Re: killap:

What I meant by the old way was getting the quest from the tribal himself as opposed to looking at the well and fixing by taking the initiative yourself. The quest was originally setup where the tribal near the well would give you the quest once your rep in the village went up some. Doing the weapons quest, shaman quest, etc, are ways to make your rep increase.

As of the fixed script file it became possible to fix the well without first being told to do so. I guess something got bugged here since so many are not getting it to work. Still, try and get the quest from the tribal and see if that works.

I think I managed to track down part of the bugs symptom, though I dont have a script decompiler to actually look for a cause. When I apply the rope, a rope is removed from inventory, but it doesnt seem to "take" on the well. I actually tried about 10 ropes, and the well ate them all.

Possible that Im getting a new quest every time I look at the well? Stacked with the one quest I get from the tribal? So I have to rope for every quest I get? Or maybe the perception based quest is eating rope without updating the quest status?

Just trying to help troubleshoot. I love the mod, want it to be perfect :)

I searched a little and I saw that a lot of people are getting this problem but there were no official answers(word from killap, or someone saying "Yeah, it's bugged, all right" , so, I'm going to ask it again...

How do we finish the quest about raiding the Slaver Camp for the Rangers in the NCR???

I killed everyone that were there, freed the slaves, and Elisa at NCR keep saying I should hurry and shit like that.

Bugged. Fixed for 1.2 though.

Ok, thx for answering

Hm...I think I found a bug that happened even in the official patch, and doesn't seems to be fixed in the Restorarion patch as well...When you have the perk Bonus Move, you get 2(4) AP just for walking, yeah? But it seems that if you walk 2(4) hexas using the AP from the perk, save the game, and load it, the bonus AP will still be there. I don't know if it's old news or what, but, can it be fixed?

Out of curiousity, is there a point to a peaceful ending for allowing the tribal to survive the slaughter of the raiders?

I am open to the Spoiler. I got through the caves and right into a raider fire fight. When I tried to talk to the resident tribal he gave me the stone cold glare of tribal defiance. I'd whack him, but... tribals gotta show some def to each other.

Oh an is the clocking ticking on the Bishop wants you to whack Westin quest?
