Fallout 2 Restoration Project Gameplay Thread

Hello again. I suspect I'm just a retard but I'm stuck at a couple of points. In the EPA, I've fixed the lights, fixed the holograms (and the toaster) and (I think) completed all the quests for the four holograms. But I still can't get through some doors. Such as the one to the arboretum. Whenever I use the door it says "Confirm override code." I have the piece of paper with the password and the PR director hologram gave the the "ABRE" password. But I still can't get through the doors. Am I missing something?

Also, do the heart pills cure Cassidy? Or are they just kind of there and they don't do anything?

And last but not least: Thank you! This expansion is fantastic. I love it. It makes the game new and good again. And it's incredibly stable. I haven't had my game crash yet. This is professional grade work!

Out of curiousity, is there a point to a peaceful ending for allowing the tribal to survive the slaughter of the raiders?

I am open to the Spoiler. I got through the caves and right into a raider fire fight. When I tried to talk to the resident tribal he gave me the stone cold glare of tribal defiance. I'd whack him, but... tribals gotta show some def to each other.

Possible spoiler in black text (I hope this is as invisible to others as it is to me):

If you enter the raiders' cave from the top entrance and convince the tribal to stop helping them they are neutralized without the need to fight them. A bit more peaceful.

The doors are bugged.
After you get the password "ABRE" and then open a door you haven't tried before (get a list of passwords), will make you unable to open any other doors.
To get around this, just try to open all the doors, so you get the "Confirm override code" message BEFORE you are given the password.

They cure him, but only if you use them on him. Putting them in his inventory does nothing. Also, the heart pills will not work if you have the talking head mod for Cassidy installed.

cheers

Has anybody figured out how to get other test subject out of the hibernation area in the EPA other than the dying one? Thanks!

I am experiencing a game crash in EPA. When I'm trying to go to lower levels from repering level black screens appears after seconds of loading and the game crashes.
I didn't do any quest for the doctor yet might that be the reason? Does any one had such problem?

There is also someone in the Abbey who can use the heart pills.

Speaking of which- Isn't Brother Thomas the fellow who got eaten by the beast in the basement of the Abby?

If so, how does one finish the Father Tully- Brother Thomas quest?

Hi, I just reinstalled the game and the expansion package, with all the script fixes too, and have started playing a new game, and I noticed that as soon as I left Arroyo, I haven't encountered Kaga yet, which happened as soon as I left Arroyo in the other games I have played. Is it like a specific time or date I encounter him, or is something wrong? Thank you!

Something isn't right then. What does your main menu say? What does the rock at the beginning of the game say?

It says the Killap Expansion Message, and I even got a dialogue from the bridgeguard about Kaga being out in the wastes. Any suggestions or just be patient? Thank you!

Much obliged. And great job by the way. I have honestly played the expansion several times since it came out. Thanks again for the help!

The Abbey: Tully connection

The dead brother in the underground cave is just that... DEAD.

The brother-in-drink that Tully mentioned is the Graveyard keeper.

The patented Abbey whiskey is quite good, a -3PE/shot. Nice eh?! I do wish there;s a quest to smuggle Abbey whiskey into Vault City or NCR though. More flavor for the expansion.

During the temple of trials quest at the beginning of the game, I couldn't help but noticed that the key that could be used to open the first locked door wasn't in the chest in the same area. Do I need a low lockpicking skill to find the key or was the key removed for this patch?

There is no key for the first locked door. You use lockpicking skills just like in the original game. The key to the exit door is on Cameron, but you don't have to steal it from him.

You'll have to forgive my inept question there, I've only started playing Fallout 2 again after a long period of non-fallout-playingness. I'd almost forgotten that Cameron had a key.

I've done a bit of reading in the Fallout bibles and came across an little entry pertaining to the random encounter which first introduces you to the Enclave, Horrigan and their "persuasive methods" as praticed on a man and his family.

In the final version of Fallout 2, Horrigan tells the player that "this is none of your affair. Turn around and walk away." After this warning, the player can only watch as Horrigan and his fellow enclave cohorts walk away. However, it turns out the programmers thought of allowing the player to attack Horrigan (there's no mention of attacking the cohorts, but I assume attacking them yields the same results as attacking Horrigan.) However, rather than attack the player immediately, Horrigan will give this warning to the player...

"That was ill advised, but I will overlook it due to your obvious ineptitude. I will not do so again."

The notes for this encounter ended right after the Horrigan warning text. I'll assume that attacking either Horrigan or his cohorts the first time will immediately end combat mode and Horrigan gives his warning and continues to walk off with his henchmen. Attacking them again will warrant a full-out combat session which, given the player's low level at that point, is going to end up being won by Horrigan and his men.

The notes for this event can be found in voulme 4 of the fallout bible.

My question is whether or not I can expect to find this part of the encounter restored. If not, do you have any plans to restore it at all? I kind've felt that encounter lacked interactivity.

Oh, there's a spelling error during your first meeting with Kago. During the line of text in which he says the people of Arroyo call him evil, he says "they call be evil" when it should be "they call me evil".

Hello again to everybody!

The following is for killap but everyone else is invited to take part in.

I've some questions. For this I've prepared a little download. It's not a large one just approximately 380 kb (I added some pictures).

Here the link: http://rapidshare.com/files/93909040/fallout2.rar.html

It might be interesting for killap because I may found a bug.

And two other questions. How the hell can I cook the fish I found at promitive tribe? Because when watch the fish in inventory it says "cooked it will taste good" or so.

Second question what about Petey in the Den, he begs all the time for money if you talk to him. So is there any use of him (like quest, or gives he some information later in the game?)?

I would be thankful for replys :-)

Thx

patey dont do anything in game (at last for me) he just ask for money and say "damm flick is dead" :D
killap can aswer better than i of course
