Fallout 2 Restoration Project Gameplay Thread

There's quite a few changes from the original version, so Per's guide is not as ultimate as before. In this restoration pack anyway.

For anyone who care about Raider base: now is quite hard to stumble upon the circle of Raider's base. Either you need very high Outdoorsman and/or Luck (my guess), or you steal the info from Bishop's family.

Yes, outdoorsman and specific time of day plays a role in one method. The other is taking the map from Bishop.

Thanks, but could you be a bit more specific?

I have 115 outdoorsman + the scout perk. I believe I am in the right map square. I've been walking around for days in that square, and all I get is like a million encounters.

cheers

EPA again: i collected the gecko pelts, turned the lights on, repaired the science hologram but the 4 hologram still wont talk to me: they keep saying the come back later we have a conference or whatever line. What should i do? (i reloaded the game now i would be able to repair the voice computer)
Do you remember the message in the window that came up when you initially walked in the room? Look in rooms nearby for the answer/explanation to the message.

I know they say something about the strong magnetism but if i repair the computer the powered armor guy wont accept the quest later

It seem when they say strong magnetism now you can diagnose the computer next door that it has a loosened magnetism coil or something. That's when you can repair it. (my memory is abit fuzzy about certain steps)

I'm aware of this but if i repair it and then talk to the hologram guys one of them (in powered armor) asks me to repair the voice computer so isnt this the same computer ?

Edit: I figured out the voice computer is near the science hologram on the second sub level. I repaired it before so the guy dont wanted to accept it but after reloading and doing it after i speak with him it worked out fine.

Are there any quest left with the other 2 holograms? The public relation director and the doctor like person?

PR director gal? It seem not. Convince her to give password so you may access some rooms and that's it. Even though botanical garden require some pass from her I havent had success in talking to her (about that). the remaining hologram is satisfied if you kill all the plants on the ground level.

you can also get a password from a hologram in the red level, after you get the key to get there
that password you can use to open door to elevator which gets you to the other part of EPA, where doctor is. Dont know, which way is it shorter

Next to the ventilaton shaft, there is a small pile of rocks, watching at it writes, that they look like somethings hidden inside. I just didnt get anything out of there, even with ST 10 and PE 10

Still wondering where is Vault Village and where to find Sulik's sister :D

There was a mention about "Servant allocation quests" and some slaver camps but haven't come across any.

Any hints would be welcome, just don't spoil it please ;)

Anyway another big thank you here. Been dreaming of such thing ever since I completed FO2 for the first time, now the old legend is back with a bang. IE. The Primitive Tribe place was amazing, Arroyo seems like very healthy and well doing community in contrast. Had a major surprise outside of Gecko as well, I was so disappointed in the original game when there was no greeting party :D

Do quests for Stark and hell give you location of VC village, wanting you to kill the rats there. Then you can finish it in 3 different ways i think

Suliks sister is in a slaver camp. You can get the location from Metzger by becoming a slaver or by killing him and his party and asking one of the slaves you search for a certain person

If you looking for clues findig Sulik's sis first you have to complete some quest in the primitive tribe and talk if i remember correctly they leader, he will give you a clue about a guy named "Metzger". Talk to Metzger and you will have a new dialog option, or you can kill Metzger free his slaves and get info from them, before you let them go

Trouble is that, every old timer kill Merzger as quick as they can. So they are screwed. Why? because when we ask him there's no dialog concerning the sister ==> we thought he's useless for that purpose ==> no reason to postpone the pleasure that is execution the slavers' nest.

And we cant ask any slaves about the sister... trouble with script perhaps. They just run away all of them.

I was able to talk to them to give me the location. Plus it may also pay to put off free suliks sister till you get the quest to elimanate the slavers base from the rangers cause then you get a couple of buddies who tag along for the ride :)

Yeah i used to kill Metzger ASAP too. Maybe you can try to become a ranger and after clearing out the NCR slave den maybe they will give you the coordinates. Not sure but its worth a try i think

Where and how do you find the raiders that attack Vault City?
I'm trying to get a day pass that way, but can't find them. Is this something that has been changed, or am I missing something/being very stupid?

=>concerning the day pass, it's quite simple... put off your armor and then talk to Wallace... he will give you a free day pass.

=>concerning the raiders, just to sum up, I give you a copy of a mp I sent to somebody who asked me the same question=>

"No, this is not what to do. Before the mod, you could find the raiders immediately wandering at the south of Vault City, and at the north of Broken Hills. But now, you've got to bring Moore's briefcase (Moore is the guy next to the Vault entrance...the guy in green) to Bishop. Then, once you're are in new Reno, you give the briefcase to Bishop, and during the conversation you accept the job to kill Westin (even if you won't do it...it's to be sure that Bishop won't kill you ). When the conversation is over, you've got to manage to go to Bishop's room, and you've got to open his safe... there's a map showing the way to the RAIDERS."

... and of course there is the skill "outdoorsman" which can let you find the raiders base.

I had the fifth kaga encounter...
quite interesting, i was surprised and had all my hi-tech stuff in the car, so i loaded the save and equiped myself with the pulse rifle i found in EPA.
Well, it wasnt that much fun. It is a night encounter and i dont have the night vison, so i had to shoot him into the head instead of eyes.
I hit him for 10 HP and he died, is that some special pulse rifle thing or what?

Do you have the Better Criticals perk? AFAIK, that enables instant kills.

*Concerning the Vault city patrols, I've got a suggestion. When I meet them (keep in mind I'm citizen and captain of Vault City) they say things like : " hello citizen", "I suggest you go there now", "anything we can do for you, citizen?", "Do you need an escort to Vault city?", "What are you doing so far from Vault City, citizen?","We were worried you might have been hurt, citizen".

=>so I think in the first time they should show me a little R-E-S-P-E-C-T (c'mon Aretha )... they should say the same things that the guards outside in Vault city when you are Captain of the Guard : "Just keeping an eye on things here, captain", "Vault City prevails, Captain", "Good day, Captain", "Nothing to report, Captain"

=>plus what the guards inside Vault City say : "Sir.It's good to see you, Sir", "Sir, yes, Sir".

...It would be more realistic!

About Slave Camp:

According to Killap, there's only two source of info about SC, both in The Den. The Rangers is a last resort, when your team cant handle the slavers at the SC, then you go to NCR Rangers to ask for help. So if you got enough firepower NCR Rangers' help is not necessary.

About Per's guide , let me 'paraphrase' Shadowman's introduction in it

Let me enlighten you, grasshopper. Per's Nearly Ultimate Fallout 2 Guide is cool because it's a detailed, multiple solutions, tactic-rich and strategy-wise walkthrough for that nonlinear, nonclassbased kickass postnuclear computer roleplaying game with a high replayabillity value. Per's guide allows you to squeeze every minute in the game to the fullest possible enjoyment. If you want to play a goodie-two-shoes, you can. If you want to play an evil bastard, you can (Yes, you really can hit children in the groin with a sledgehammer). If you want to play a moron who can hardly talk because of his low intelligence, you can. With this guide, no longer you have to grope your way through the maze that is Fallout 2. But, remember this, Per's guide is not for virgin. It's not for newbies, or noobs, or firstimer. Once picking it up, you shall not leave it alone. So before you click on the document, think again. Think hard, for your future with Fallout 2 depend on it.
