Fallout 2 Restoration Project Gameplay Thread

I restarted playing Fallout a few days ago after finding out why the Restoration Patch kept crashing(renaming language folder).
Since I do not want to miss any pearls lying around the floor, I wanted to ask about the new possibility to kill the rat-god in Trapper town.
I already noticed the damaged support, but cant find any possibility to make use of that.

Besides, I read about some chip and armor lying there too, which I never found in the original game. The gun on the second lvl went missing too(happens after reentering the sewers I read, but still very inconvenient to me(rats eating corpses ok, but guns? ^^))

ps: maybe need explosives? Or shoot the ceiling with the missing gun?

Explosive sound like a good idea. Don't forget to get the pistol and car part first though.
The bodies does not disappear right away, you can still go and get the car part and then the gun if you want.

The armor and chip is in Redding I believe, it's not in the rat tunnels.

I have 115 outdoorsman + the scout perk. I believe I am in the right map square. I've been walking around for days in that square, and all I get is like a million encounters.

The key is night time. And perhaps being in the right city. I mean, they do raids on some location in the game, right? 8-)

thanks for the hint Darek. I tried shooting, throwing stones, bought a rope, using a 'rope with stone' to throw at it, make a trap on that thing so the rat god would crash the ceiling when trying to pass, cutting the tightly bound together logs that cover that hole in the ground and a dozen of other things.

The only thing I didnt really try out was just blowing it to bits... I thought explosives wouldn't really be neccessary, because it was inconvenient to blow up the support logs if you could as well use the explosion to kill him directly...

You can get the gun after you go up and get the fuel regulator, but you can't get any of it after you use the explosives.
 
It seem that once you enter the tunnel, if you leave it, the corpse, being organic and not skeleton, will decay, leaving the gun on the ground. As the gun's graphic is not standing out it will be hard to find. This time play I cant get the gun because of that (I forget where the corpse is).

The support beams: According to Killap, you need about 3 (4?) dynamite to destroy those beams. SO, if you got that much dynamite, you also got enough resources to buy good weapons to make mincemeat out of that king rat. Killap are considering making changes to this option (making 3 beams 'weakened' by crowbar, and one destroyable by dynamite) in the next update (is he?) but currently the new option is just too novel.

Just needed one dynamite to get the whole cave collapse in a chain reaction(if the support planks are what you're talking about).

I revieved the cave using an older savegame. If I remember correctly, the place I usualy found the gun in my old games, I found a combat knife in this one, but not sure, dont have a installation without mod any more.
 
Game Crash

Hey there, I have a question. I just completed the slaver camp quest, and my game kept crashing last night, something about an application error. This now happens whenever I put items into my car trunk inventory. Anyway to fix this? Let me know. Thank you!

There are two ways to prevent the attack. Did you even go to the village yet?

As of 1.1 all you need is one explosive to bring all the supports down.
 
** SPOILERS **

So, I got the quest from Modoc to find Karl in 30 days or they'll attack the Ghost Farm. Maybe I wasn't paying enough attention, but I don't think there's anyway that a month went by during my straight-line trip to and from The Den where I found Karl. Still, when I returned to Modoc, they had already massacred The Ghost Farm residents. Does this have long lasting implications for the rest of the game besides the experience points I won't be getting? I don't think I have a game saved early enough to go back and change this outcome.
 
The game keeps crashing when I put items in the car trunk, or if I take to long getting items out. I tried saving in different slots. Any suggestions? Thank you.

This car trunk issue (crash) is something I have never heard about until recently. I think there have been three cases with this occurring. If you suffer from this problem please post your computer specs and original version/lang of your Fallout 2 game.
 
Well my Computer is a Windows XP (Dell 4600C). I guess I am a little lost on what you meant by the language of the game. I've had the game crash at times before the expansion was put on, but it never did the car trunk thing to me before. Sorry for all the questions and posts, and thanks for the help as well.

Lets move this discussion to the 1.1 thread. This thread is for gameplay questions. (ie how to do a quest)

When I say language, I mean is it the UK/US/etc version of the game. Again, please answer in the 1.1 thread rather than here.
 
Resolved the issue - had to drop the Raiders map and pick it up again, then "use" it again for it to add the base to my world map.
 
first of all I’d like to say thank for this great mod. it's perfect! the first time I
entered abbey I almost wept ...

now lets get down to business:

1. primitive tribe: what's supposed to happen when you save the guy in the cave? I just
appeared in front of the shamans tent and got the exp, the funny part was that when I
returned there (to the cave) the dude was laying on top of the cave (the tiles that
surround the cave itself) and therefore was unreachable

2. primitive tribe: how do I get the herbs quest?

3. EPA: I finished all the quests there and explored everything I could but there are
still 3 doors that require password that I don’t have (though I found a paper with some
password but when I use/examine it nothing happens) - the doors are: those leading to the room with paintings,world map and tactical map in the red area; the door in the green area leading to the animal pens; door in the blue area leading to the room with lots of computers (with the one that should contain some secret data)

4. EPA: how do I download the botanic data? I get an error message when I try to. do I
need an empty holodisk or something

5.EPA: is there any use for the various items like cigarettes, test tubes, pop rocks,
shampoo etc. and how do I use the seeds?

6. Abbey: any use for those books there?
