Fallout 3 anniversary contest winners announced

For fucks sake!!Its a complete joke!!WTH is wrong with them?

Nuclear man is pathetic and grim reaper is pathetic!!

Bethesda fagballs picked an overpowered trait that most likely be possible to achieve the first few hours of the game!!

Una puta mierda!!

To be fair, as long as this is a high level perk, I can't see it being any more overpowering than sniper/slayer LK10 and 150 odd % on the relevant skills. It'll also make twitch gamers actually use VATS, which is probably what beth wants. Most of the others are stupid though, but I did like the klepto perk.

money talks was probably my favorite, but i can't stop laughing at crazy eye. i can't believe no one else has mentioned it. i don't think it would be very great in game, but i do think it's hilarity.

Opponents attacking from the front suffer a penalty to hit you because, seriously, that eye is freaking me out.

There are ways to fuck a game up !
Bethesda is mastering them all ...step by step !
Toilet Drinker
V.A.T.S
Brotherhood of Steel Marines
Fat man gun
Grim Reapers shit ...
what will be next ?!!!

oh hey, vault 13... the signature image you have annoys me because shitty has 2 t's. "shity" is incorrect and even though it's poking fun at some bad art, annoys me. :( while we're on it, i suppose i should also point out that in this case you would want to be using "it's" and not "its", but that is not nearly as annoying as "shity."

Now that I've looked at the runner ups:

Deal with the Devil
You sold your soul to the Devil. You feel hollow inside. You receive $500,000 in your inventory.

Submitted by: DUPARC Melanie

Because every level 2 should be running around with .5 million. This is almost worst than Grim Reaper's Spirit.

I'm a bit annoyed because I basically submitted the same thing, but better:

Pact With The Devil

You met the devil at a crossroads. In exchange for your soul he grants you greater physical powers* but since you're now a servant of evil, your Karma can never go above 0. Oops.

*like increasted stats or something, I was leaving that up to Bethesda.

Maybe I didn't win becuase I didn't draw a crappy picture to go with it.

Oh well, at least the response to Money Talks is generally positive. I was wondering whether to own up to it or not. It was one of my entries.

I never thought it would win though. It was one of the last few submissions I made to boost my chance of winning in the random draw. :o If any one of my entries had a chance of wining I thought it would be Dirty! (description: Being that this perk allows me to score a critical on a hit anytime my target fails a luck roll and more than likely blow their heads clean-off, you've got to ask yourself one question. Do I feel lucky? Well, do ya punk?)

...or Do or Die (description: Time to break your limits! If your hit points drop below 20% of their maximum, all your hits are upgraded to critical hits if you also succeed in a luck roll.)

While they weren't too original, being variations of the slayer/sniper perk, I though the descriptions were well-written... or maybe they got disqualified because they make reference to something outside the fallout world. They should have mentioned that earlier though, I mean I entered Dirty! because Dirty Harry was already referenced in the .44 revolver magnum weapon in earlier games and Do or Die because dammit, Cassidy wants a limit break, and it's high time he gets one.

And no, I still have no idea what I'd be getting, I haven't received any communication from bethsoft as of yet. Anyway that's not so important, I entered it for just for the kicks anyway, wasn't even sure I was qualified to enter the contest in the beggining, not being a U.S. resident and/or citizen.

The funny part is that this abomination will almost certainly win Beth yet another 'RPG of the year' award.

To be fair, that's a reasonable perk for, say, a level 30 (in fallout 2 terms). I don't get why everyone's freaking out :/

Some of the perks mocking the game are funny, good job to whoever did the crazy eye.

This is getting ridiculous.
'Grim Reaper's Sprint' must be one of the worst perks I have ever seen. ( 'Nuclear Man (or Woman)' being even worse)

'Money Talks' is actually a good idea if implemented correct, not making it a game breaking perk. (as the winner suggestion probably will)
For instance 1%+ to speech for every 10000 or so bottle caps (or Septims as the case may be), and maybe 1+ charisma for every 100000 or 150000 bottle caps.

Added: 'Crazy Eye' could really be a great role playing perk if the penalty opponents receive is weak enough. A good perk for a 'psycho' character.
As with the 'Bloody Mess' Trait.

(Too bad Bethesda don't do role playing games)

How the Grim Reaper one plays out obviously depends on how the combat system works; we can't judge it on how it would work inserted into the original. There it would be way, way overpowered even at level 24, you could work your way through a level of the Enclave in one turn. Here, maybe restoring your AP isn't such a big deal anyway, and maybe you won't be able to one- or two-shot as many enemies as you could in Fo2 with a Gauss weapon.

I cast my vote for the klepto one. The effect would obviously be that you soak up a Stimpak here, a piece of jerky there, a clip from somewhere else. Not something you'd pick over a "kill more" type perk if you're going for efficiency, but top marks for flavour.

some are actually not so bad... Money Talks, Kleptomaniac & You First. (if balanced correctly ofc)

anyhow, we all knew to expect a stupid perk, but hell, this really makes me wonder who the FUCK selected it...

I'm only hoping that because Money Talks, European Accent and Tonality placed as runner-ups, that speech skill and dialogue will have a large role in the game.

Money Talks was a great idea for a perk. It would balance out if you put it on a logarithmic scale (that is, you get an additional bonus at 1, 10, 100, 1000, 10000, etc).

As for Reaper's Sprint... I don't think it necessarily unbalances the game, anymore than Sniper or Slayer. But what bothers me is that for a winning perk it seems to lack character. Sniper and Slayer come as a reward for playing your character a certain way; despite how powerful they are, they're really just the cherry on top. They validate your playing style. Reaper's Sprint is just.... yay, more action points. It's power gaming. But then again, I might just be bitter.

Klepto was an interesting seed, but not developed enough. And as for Crazy Eye, it would have been cool if it had affected barter/speech checks (and not only for the positive). The fact that every* perk in the top ten only affects combat speaks to the mentality this game is targeted to.

What made the perks great in 1 & 2 was that many of them had character - something Van Buren was building on. BETHESDA - I'M SPEAKING TO YOU!

* At least, I didn't notice anything else, and I don't feel like reading through the list again.

Exactly. They gave the first place to a perk that doesn't add nothing to the atmosphere of the game. Actually, it's one of the most primitive perks that I've ever seen.

All I can say - пиздец.
Why fubar? :hide:

And looking at the perk that won, it's quite obvious why it won. As even if it give the player an extra turns beyond a certain point, it doesn't even mather, if the fights are one on one against the serious opponents, meaning bosses etc. And its an ad for the system.

But then again, if you look at the class, and it's half empty, this only means that the speech won't need to be as much meaningful or concentrated on(ps, it's an ad too), and thus it will be worse. :(
