Fallout 3 anniversary contest winners announced

Nuclear Man (or Woman)
Your body reacts like a battery to radiation and you've learned to harness it. Once per day, you can unleash a mini Nuclear explosion from your body, causing (X) amount of damage to all combatants in (X) radius.

Nukem
A twist of fate had turn you into a gas-leaking monster. Enemy will get +2-10 damage based on their endurance if they are 2 hex near you. So are your friends.

Someone stole my idea!
Well not really. But the "Grim Reaper's Sprint" has to be the worst perk IMO (in this case, only strengthen the proofs that Fallout 3 will use Real-time combat with pause yucky feature) since a character will has his action points full when is his turn, unless he suffer certain damage that will cut his action-point.

What was you favorite Perk from any of the previous Fallout games?
Sharpshooter
<-from the blog.
Guess that explain his idea...

Sharpshooter was effectively just a skill bonus, and didn't even work properly...

You mean sniper? Sharpshooter work correctly in my game, I believe...

Nou, I think Sniper worked ok while there was something wrong with Sharpshooter.
Also, you shouldn't question Per when it comes to stuff like this :aiee:

im da masta.i now ol!!1

Anyway, ad verecundiam. And I still think it was sniper that was bronken... I read it somewhere at least, and not all my shots were criticals, so I think it was bronken. Sharpshooter worked fine (giving +1 perception). Unless I'm completely lost here...

Because you had to make a Luck roll to get critical. I believe with 10 luck and Sniper you'd always crit with guns while with 5 luck you'd have 50% chance of critting

Wow. Those were the best? From over 17.000 entries? Really?

I guess the winning perk would be best suited as a special perk, one which you can obtain only through playing, not through leveling. Should be hid really well, and be extremely hard to get, it sure has a premise of being seriously overpowered.

As for the runner-up's, most are ridiculously silly, like -

Falling from Heaven
When you're in a combat and losing it, a random object (a spoon, a table, etc.) might fall from the sky and hit your enemy, causing damage (the amount of damage is relevant to the mass of the object). This perk naturally only works outdoors.

and -

Deal with the Devil
You sold your soul to the Devil. You feel hollow inside. You receive $500,000 in your inventory.

What the fuck, seriously. Is this Fallout or Crimsonland? I can't believe that those perks were even considered!

Almost all of them seem like easter-egg perks. Crazy Eye? Starfish Limbs? Puppet Master? Loads of fun, i'm sure. I might say "hey, what a totally fucked up, crazy, random thing to get for doing that/talking to that guy etc". But i thought it was more about normal perks, which shouldn't really be easter-egg'ish.

The two perks which boost the talking skills of the character (Tonality and European Accent) seem like a very silly twist/rehash of the Smooth Talker and Speaker perks... at least Puppet Master and Schizophrenia have some novelty value.

That Crazy Eye perk is actually my favorite one. I don't think it would be out of place at all in the originals... It gives me an idea for a similar perk:

Evil Eye
With this perk, even the meanest wasteland warriors might shake in their boots from those... eyes. You receive a %20 speech and +2 charisma bonus for purposes of intimidation dialogue options only.

This was mine:

Star blazin!

Bust a cap in Mad Max's ass...

0.5% Chance of enemy turning into a Hollywood star/character!
Each star you assassinate earns you 10% extra experience points.
(depending on current Level the star would range from easy to difficult)[/img]

This is the perk I should've submitted to Bethesda, it probably would have made it into the game:

Urine Connoisseur:
Many years of drinking your own urine has given you a particular taste for the golden juice. Everytime you drink your own piss, you rejuvenate your health and action points. Once per day, you will also gain one level. Results may vary when drinking any other urine besides your own.

Yay for making the game ruthlessly simple!

Oh goodie.... so the Perk winner was made by a power gamer, for power gamers. Building the "perfect" character in Fallout 2? Was this guy playing the same game I was or what? I was personally just trying to get my characters good enough to not get wailed on in random encounters, or persuasive enough to talk my way out of it.

And what's up with his talk about the inspiration? Because, hey, the ultimate goal of any Fallout combat was to have a mega-kill round where you just slaughter everything, right? ......RIGHT?!?

With this sort of stuff to go on, I'm not really surprised at the direction Fallout 3 is going. Somehow certain fan input is making the game worse. And that's pissing me off pretty badly.
