Fallout 3 Full E3 Trailer

Well the time as finally come when we can all glance upon the game which many have feared and so far I like it,but I can completely understand why many do not. Allow me to elaborate.

Ghouls running. I don't give a fuck if the ghouls run or shamble.Just doesn't matter to me although I can understand why some may be bothered by it.

The ragdoll physics.I myself like ragdoll, but sometimes it can be overdone. All personal preference though.

The environment.I liked the environment, and I doubt what little they showed encompasses the entire game.People complained of everything looking the same.....it was a few minutes of gameplay.Give me a break. If so....that sucks, but I doubt it.

But the people complaining about no dialog in the trailer is what bothers me a lot.I really don't think showing dialog in the initial E3 demo would have been interesting. From Bethesdas POV I can understand them wanting to show some action to draw the crowd in and then later during the week unveil more of the games RPG elements. If I'm wrong it fucking sucks, but I hope I'm not.

BLOODY MESS.Todd was using Bloody Mess in the demo. Why is this not understood. In the other demo it looked like Bloody mess wasn't used and all the limbs were not blown off in every shot.It actually looked pretty good IMO.I understand a sniper shot to the head does not blow off your limbs, but from all the recent games I have seen the death sequences are not anymore impressive. If I am wrong please tell me,but what other game has had better death sequences?
I am by no means a Beth fanboy either.I fucking hate Todd Howard. He is a shitty speaker and talks like every thing is full of AWESOMENESS !!!!111. I must say though that I enjoyed the demo and trailer very much so. The 50's style advertisement hit on point IMO.The Mr.Handy made me laugh and the little warnings at the bottom of the screen were funny as hell.I liked how when they talked about the daughter pumping out babies she looked weird at her Father...don't know if anyone noticed that.I really don't see what was wrong with that scene, but meh...to each there own.

I also don't feel Dogmeat is a issue.Don't fucking use him if you feel he is one.Too easy.I doubt you will HAVE to use Dogmeat. In the previous interviews they said you didn't have to,so I must assume that you don't.
Mutants looking a bit orcish is a small issue as well IMO.Yet again I do understand some peoples issue with it.Doesn't bother me personally, but I do admit they don't fit the original design exactly. To me they fit the Tactics design more so than 1 and 2.

I am a hardcore fan of Fallout and PA in general.I love anything and everything PA and that is one reason why many of the issues that bother Fallout fans don't bother me.I just fucking LOVE apocalyptic games....minus POS.I can relate to the way many feel because I am a BIG comic book fan. When the studios make garbage like Fantastic Four 2:Rise of the Silver Surfer and they butcher Galactus and many other story elements, it pisses me off.In XMEN 3 when they called Juggernaut a mutant whenever he isn't and never mentioned the fact that he is Xavier's brother; I fucking flipped out.
So needless to say I understand the disdain of the NMA community

The game did look a little too action-orientated,but lets just hope the RPG elements are being saved for another demo.TBH the part that pissed me off the most about this thread was when someone mentioned that a bunch of faggot little 12 year olds were bitching about Fallout coping Bioshock.Made me want to cut soemones throat. But when someone mentioned that it is sad that Fallout 3 is even being compared to Bioshock it made sense. That is the reason why so many Fallout fans are mad.I know that a duh answer to anyone who has been on these forums for longer than a week, but it really made sense.
Anyway....thats my take.

Now, I'm glad you understand why we bitch about all the small things. If they only messed up a few small things, ok. This is not the case. They messed up hundreds of small things and several huge gameplay aspects. And also named it Fallout 3.

Yeah it took a video to make me understand it all. That and hearing Todd's annoying ass bullshit. The interview on G4TV actually made me ashamed to say "I watch Attack of the Show and XPLAY". Olivia Munn is fucking hot though so.......

I don't understand why Todd didn't make it clear he was using the perk and perhaps also show what kills look like without it. Because what I saw look horrible (oh and the deaths looked bad tool :P ). But seriously people who buy it are going to wonder what happened to these "awesome" deaths and if I were them I'd be upset if I had to use up a perk spot for this.

In the Microsoft presentation he does note that he has bloody mess.

But he's obviously not going to show the normal deaths. They're less epic-immersive.

There's also a mechanical advantage to it: more damage. Basically it's the new Bonus Ranged+Melee Damage with an added graphical effect.

Mini-games For A Better Tomorrow!

No one spot any jumping puzzles yet?
Don't all console endeavors evoke jumping puzzles?
That BOS console FO spin off was reported to have a jumping puzzle.
After years and years of 8 bit jumping, jumping puzzles became an unwelcome poke in the eye.
If I wanted jumping puzzles,
and tit physics,
I would be manipulating some incarnation of Tomb Raider.

Hills-far had a lock picking mini game, well Hills-far was all, all, all, and all mini-games.
Certain that others have memories where the spirit of the moment was similar, much repeated theme. The mediocre mini-game one appreciated after the fact.

Locks. Much repeated real life dilemma. No keys. No. Break in, finesse the latch, or call a lock smith.

Lock picking mini-game.
Kind of like the present you never expected
from the great aunt that can't remember your name, and, or your age.
The collagen dictionary, when 12 or 13, was the best of that bunch that I remember,
and the odd candies were always an adventure.

O.K. kids, the basic principle of these lock picking looks like real life.

Don't ask.

Won't tell.

Use of a lever, the screw driver. One would use such a mechanical advantage.

The rake is that cute hair pin. For this B-soft game, the angle of the dangle seems to be important.
If one were to do this at ... home ... one rakes each pin to the sheer line until the core turns,
turning core opens the latching mechanism.

A lock smith is allowed to purchase the professional equivalent, the picks, and these basic pieces are of special steel, and in numerous sizes.

Lever and rake, takes practice, yet is effective for a number of small domestic lock sets.

Letting you know that you FO3 kids are one up on real life skills,
then your ball bat negotiating pals @ GTA.

New skills for a better tomorrow!

Prepared for the FUTURE!

So kids when you employ these new won skills to support your video game habit,
don't tell officer friendly, until your lawyer is present,
you learned lock picking from Todd Howard's E3 FO3 expose!

And remember, this slippery legal dodge, the door was NEVER locked when you 'achieved' entry!

4too

That was very poetic.
Also the use of the bloody mess perk is likely to attract as much attention as possible early. The same with the combat focused demo.

Dammit 4too, Australia is going to ban you. Now even locks won't be able to stop kids from getting at those damn drugs!

Hmm, I just a found chronologic error in this trailer. The typefaces (read: fonts) I could identify are Agency Gothic (the NOT AN ACTUAL ATOMIC BLAST to the phone number), Futura (SUPER DUPER MART, thanks radnan), and Freestyle Script Bold (We have what you need!). I'm a little too lazy to research the others at the moment.

While Agency Gothic and Futura were created before and used in the 50's, Freestyle script was made in 1981! Hell, even the Bold face version was made in 1986, which is featured in the trailer. For me as a graphic designer, that's absolutely irresponsible.

Sure, it doesn't really matter all that much, but a typeface from the fucking 1980's? Do some research Bethesda!
