Fallout 3 Good Life Trailer HD and Stills

Possibly they tried to create a midsized laser weapon and had to think up a new design, as in the original their is no middle ground between the pistol and the large sniper-like laser.

There's still no excuse for that ugly block they're trying to pass off as a laser rifle. The old model would work so much better with all the little wires sticking out and it actually even looked like a rifle. Remember, the desgins weren't necessarily realistic, but fitting of what the idea of a laser rifle would have looked like in the 50's.

I was merely providing an explanation why they did not use the original design not a reason why the design is good. Also we have not seen many of the weapons that are being used in game yet, they may have preserved some of the designs. I also think the mini gun they showed looks okay.

I like most of what I saw in this trailer but the animation of the dog at 2:15 is shockingly bad. I'm pretty sure it's an exact copy of the wolf animation from Oblivion. I really hope that isn't Dogmeat but I'm sure it is

The gameplay demo they showed was bad, but the trailer was a lot better.

I think maybe if the combat was spaced out rather than what they showed in the demo, it would've looked better.

Considering the picture is black and the weapon doesn't look like a block but a tube, I'd say Bethesda were pretty off the mark if that's what they were going for. That's not really large enough to be considered a rifle either.

In addition, I think the minigun looks too small and the Fatman looks suspiciously similar to a rocket launcher weapon from one of the N64 Turok games.

I saw the somewhat disappointing gameplay footage first and despite the impressiveness and quality of the Good Life trailer I was left too bitter afterwards to truely feel pleasure in watch the trailer.

Really like a lot of the visuals, especially the look of the tunnels and the scene of the ghouls all rushing from everywhere. Dogmeat's animation when he appears is pretty bad. The way the dude says "bacon and eggs!" made me chuckle, as did the animated dancing and baby-shooting. Overall a pretty good trailer.

I noticed something that bugged me on top of everything else. The tunnel snakes(is that official naming) seem to all have pipboys.

I don't think technology should be that accessible(not to mention, working) in a post-apoc world. At the same time look at their pants which seem to be patched or made of various pieces of torn cloth...

That bugged me throughout the trailer, some things seem too real-worldish and too well preserved(another thing those are well groomed and clean faced gangers!!! Not to mention their leather jackets are only minorly worn out and certainly not in a condition they should be nearly 300 years after the war.)

(graphics)

Some people will say "don't judge a game on it's graphics", but when they are being used as a selling point, and aimed at a market that cares about graphics.

They deserve critisism

nearly every shot had a goddamn exploding head in it. i'm HOPING (why am i still hoping at this point???) that this gameplay footage/trailer was geared at all the "OMFG EXPLOSHUNS!!!" console kiddies out there, and that they're trying to win over people that are used to that type of game and have never played Fallout before.

i'm HOPING that the trailer is misleading and will disappoint many of those same people. i could see bethesda purposefully attempting to beef-up their promos with action to keep the kids interested. what leaves the hope laying on the floor, trampled...is the lack of any slightly interesting non-combat gameplay.

*sigh*

I like the laser effects, although I would prefer that the lasers cut the enemy to bits rather then toasting them as in the original. It looks like the effect that should be used for the plasma weaponry.
laser effects are not that bad, but than ive realised ive seen that effect (disintegration) waaaaay back then in Jedi Knight 2, and some time before that in FF7 (or FF8, cant seem to differentiate them now) (id also preffer cutting effect, but given other dismemberment occurs only through preset paths, this wouldnt be so exciting either)

also note, 10um to 20um is far infrared ... im not a rocket scientist, but this laser beam shouldnt be visible imo

also, laser is beam and not bolt now?

edit: these shots in the vault looked quite neat imo

Those are sandbags in the gears of war screen.
If your talking about what I think your talking about in the fallout screens those are concrete blocks idk why they are there but we have them were I live on the highways sometimes.

My bad.

The rest of the comment still stands though. That screenshot looked like a copy-paste object job, in some rudimentary editor, instead of looking whole, like work of a world artist.

The Tunnel Snakes are inhabitants of Vault 101, so if everyone has a Pipboy 3000, they'll have them, too.

(Not that I think a 50s biker gang in a Vault is a very good idea, but I digress.)

You guys are crazy. I'm as big a fan of Fallout as anyone, and I have been since release (I watched the VHS trailer for Fallout that Interplay sent in the mail, and loved it).

Bethesda's new trailer captures the essence of Fallout perfectly. It hit the nail on the head. The game may suck for other reasons (Oblivion sucked), but if you think that trailer didn't represent the best parts of Fallout's theme, then you've allowed your hatred for Bethesda, or some other thing, to blind you.

Eh? Most people here complimented and/or applauded the non-game footage part of the trailer, you'll note.

So I'm not sure who you're talking to.

most of the negative remarks refer to little things in the trailer, but the overall reaction was very satisfied. mine, too, that trailer is a good one. perhaps you misread objections against the gameplay videos as directed against the trailer.

or:

you have spotted the truth behind nma: rabid, bethesda-bashing hatemongers!

oops, have to go, and inject my poisonous hate-remarks on another thread, with my

 Fucking classic man. I just had to say that. I'm still laughing. Did you make that,or is that off of something?
