Fallout 3 Good Life Trailer HD and Stills

Although this forum is often negative about fallout 3 it still is very rational and points out legitimate faults most of the time. Also it is very entertaining, such as above jet packs.

Most of the time, yeah, but definitely not all of the time.

Eh. We're only human. Or, by some readings, we're only a single irrational hate-filled collective mind.

So we're the Fallout version of the Borg?

About time you updated that sig, old man.

Maybe more like The Master.

NMA will bring about the master race. Master Master! One able to survive, or even thrive, on the internet. As long as there will be differences of opinion, we will troll ourselves apart fighting each other. We need one race! Race! Race! One goal! Goal! Goal! One people... to move forward to a real Fallout sequel. Destiny.

That was... beautiful

Tie me up and dip me in the vats, I'm sold for this Unity.

This reminds me of something.... My apologies to our German brethren.

Agreed, *sniffs proudly* it brought a tear to my eye. *ponders "Only Mutants Allowed" as a spinoff site...* :)

2 serious questions:

The Vertibird. I can't see BOS insignia, or any other. Was it established that the Enclave is in FO 3? Or did that set of plans the BOS got from Navarro get put to use? Or is it just there to look cool (well, it does do that I guess...wish we saw more of the canopy to see well how they really did on it).

The lyrics for the song. Obviously ironic in the context of the trailer, but could it be a hint of how Vault 101 treats the protagonist? Like "Maybe"?

Not serious: So right after the baby-popping in the ad segment, the host guy says "And Billy, you'll have lots of swell kids to play with". Not, "There'll be other swell kids to play with", but little Billy will procreate and play with his kids. Right after the baby thing, I just had this nasty "but Leia kissed Luke...ewwwwww!" moment there.

Bethesda and inbreeding...is there a connection?

They do seem to be showing a great deal of explosions, which is fitting with setting the world on fire.

Also on the issue of the collective mind...
We are NMA. Lower your shields and surrender your approval of Fallout 3. We will add your biological and technological distinctiveness to our own. Your standards will adapt to service us. Resistance is futile.

Hey, bethesda used
the outsiders' as one of their pop culture references??? not sure, but these look just like greasers to me.....
VAULT DWELLER MEETS PONY BOY
stay gold pony boy stay gold

Ah, forgot to throw these in before.

The shot of the vault door opening: Why so short? It's barely a flicker. The FO1 and FO2 intros, and the end of the NMA trailer for Van Buren, both emphasize the vault door opening (fetishize it, actually). In the case of the VB trailer, it's quite a powerful thing. I suppose in FO3 it may be built up more...but then should it be in the trailer?

Dogmeat's face: I posted in another thread that it looks kind of like a person somehow. I think the worst of it is the eyes...on most dogs I've been around you rarely see more than a thin crescent of the whites of their eyes.

It's the Enclave. Confirmed to be in, and most likely, imo, the main antagonist group. Well, could be super mutants (unlikely, being as they've so far only been portrayed just as walking chunksplosions waiting to happen), or the BOS splinter group (allied with Enclave?). Anyhow, it's just conjecture at this point.

I Want to Set the World on Fire was the song that was supposed to be in the intro to Fallout 1, but the rights couldn't be acquired for it. Maybe was used instead. As for being prophetic towards the nature of the game, I think it foreshadows wonderfully our "darn nifty explodey cars and mini-nukes!"

Ugh...such a great song, and now all I picture when I hear it is epic fail.

To be clear about this:

I liked the Good Life trailer a lot. It did capture the essence and the spirit of Fallout, I find. Based and build on the 1950's real (not ironic) thinking about what to do when the bombs hit, it is great :)

The combat shown in the trailer not so much. I like shooting at things (hey, I'm a guy ;) ) but I do not understand what the over-the-top adolescent shooting people's head off will be good for, but I can live with this if I'm not forced into seeing this everytime I go into VATS to shoot at someone.

Do you need the bloody mess perk to get the heads rolling? I can't remember right now...

However, then we have this:

http://www.gamesradar.com/pc/fallou...080714133932662026/g-20070327151320531089/p-3

In this preview you do get to know that a certain mr. Burke is looking for you since you didn'tdo what you were supposed to somewhere in the game...

Now, this is a consequence for a choice I didn't expect...

On the ratings note, do you think this will get AO (adults only) rating because of the blood, gore and violence shown you do blow people's heads off??

It looks a lot better than what i thought it would be. I think the graphics capture the Fallout feel pretty well really. The vital questions are still to be answered however. Is it a *real* RPG? I doubt it. What is the dialogue system like?

I doubt it will be a proper RPG, and it will probably fail to capture the eerie emptiness that made F1 + 2 so very wonderful, especially when played late at night. It looks like they have managed to create some degree of Fallout atmosphere however. In fact the screenshots are more atmospheric than the entire Brotherhood of Steal game.

Well, Enclave in the game makes more sense than ghouls, supermuties, and BOS. With all the familiar faces showing up across the continent, is anyone taking bets on seeing The Master?

For that matter, Lieutenant and Harry are kind of core aspects of the game world, so can we have them too? And some of the Darkwater clan? And Queen Tandi the Fourth...but young and nubile like in Fallout, not old and pruney.

For FO3 song lyrics I didn't mean the lyrics for Set The World On Fire, I meant the lyrics for "Dear Hearts and Gentle People" (Music by Sammy Fain, with lyrics by Bob Hilliard, 1950) heard in the trailer.

I love those dear hearts . . . an' gentle people,
Who live in my home town
,
Because those dear hearts . . . an' gentle people,
Will never, ever, let you down!

They read the 'Good-Book' . . . from Fri 'till Monday,
That's how the weekend goes!
I've got a 'dream-house' . . . I'll build there one day,
With a picket-fence . . . an' ramblin' rose!

I feel so welcome . . . each time that I return,
That my happy heart keeps laughin' like a clown
I love those dear hearts . . . an' gentle people,
Who live an' love in my home town!

I love those people!

I love those dear hearts . . . an' gentle people,
Who live in my home town,
Because those dear hearts . . . an' gentle people,
Will never, ever let you down!

They read the 'Good-Book' . . . from Fri 'till Monday,
That's how the weekend goes!
I've got a 'dream-house' . . . I'll build there one day,
With a picket-fence . . . and a ramblin' rose!

I love the dear hearts . . . an' gentle people,
Who shout a friendly 'Hi' . . .
When they go passin' by . . .
Who live an' love in my home town!

Ah! These are my kinda people!
